Meet the Team – Tamar Martin

Our team at Best of Suffolk are a wonderful group of people who love Suffolk.

Let us introduce to you Tamar Martin from the Best of Suffolk team.

How long have you worked for Best of Suffolk?

I have worked for Best of Suffolk for over 2 years.

What do you love most about the Suffolk?

The continuous countryside and coastlines for exploring. I also enjoy discovering the extensive history of our beautiful county and its buildings.

What do you do in your spare time?

I spend a lot of my time walking my Staffy-Cross, Pig, all over the local countryside and finding new places to explore. I also enjoy the abundance of pubs with amazing food and drinks!

Where is your favourite place to eat?

Difficult choice as there’s so many options depending on what you’re looking for. The places I most often frequent would either be The Ship in Dunwich (during or after a long walk), or The Pizzeria at The White Hart in Aldeburgh as the pizzas are some of the best in the area (we’ve tested a few), and you can either enjoy eating within the pub atmosphere or sat on the beach.

What is your favourite food?

Chocolate cake 🙂

What three words would you use to describe Best of Suffolk?

Driven, passionate, foodies!

What would you say to someone who is thinking about holidaying in Suffolk?

If you really want to make the most of it, then pack your walking boots. It is stunning all year around if you’re not afraid of a bit of wind and rain, and our pubs are especially enticing during the bad weather!

Have you stayed in one of our properties?

I have, and I am looking forward to experiencing some more in the coming year. With my job role I am fortunate enough to be able to visit many of our properties, and as a team we make it an aim to visit all of them between us, as often as we can.

In your opinion, what is the most scenic spot in the area?

When I was young, and before moving to the county, my family used to holiday here in Dunwich. It is still by far one of my favourite places to visit and walk as you have miles of unspoilt heathland, beaches, woodland, and open countryside with a variety of wildlife. Much of which is looked after by the National Trust. Dunwich also has an extensive history as one of the UK’s largest ports until the sea devoured it, and there are hints of this history dotted all over.

If someone is looking for an amazing holiday, what are the best activities to try in the area?

If you are looking to experience something beyond walking, the seaside towns such as Southwold, Aldeburgh, and Orford are all worth a visit with plenty of fresh local dishes to try and things to do. Woodbridge, Framlingham and Lavenham are steeped in history and are bustling towns if you want a livelier atmosphere. There is also an abundance of castles, ruins, and country manors that are worth a visit too!
