Walton House sits in one of the best locations in Southwold with the high street just steps away to the west and the sea a pebble's throw to the east. The sandy beach, adorned with a string of colourful beach huts that lead along to Southwold Pier at one end, and towards the harbour at the other end where you can buy fresh fish from one of the fishermen's huts. Southwold boasts several excellent pubs and restaurants as well as a range of independent shops and galleries.
There is a pretty walk over the Common to the harbour and over a footbridge to the picture-postcard village of Walberswick, home to two good pubs (The Anchor and The Bell) and a long sandy beach. In the summer months you can come back on the ferry which will row you across the river.
Southwold is home to the Adnams Brewery and the town’s excellent pubs include one of our personal favourites and The Lord Nelson is a few doors down from Walton House, where you can try a range of Adnams bitters.
