This inspiring Aldeburgh holiday cottage offers flexible 'any day' arrival dates for two or more nights all year around. Plus a short walk away (approx 1 mile) is Aldeburgh's bustling high street and beach, so you're ideally located. The large garden is a real must for anyone travelling with a family, and wanting outdoor space to soak up the Suffolk sunshine or for your four legged friend to enjoy! The Vintage House lives up to it's name with a kitsch 1920s feel throughout the family holiday home. Worry not, there's every mod con and creature comfort you could wish for during your holiday to the Suffolk Coast.
Can you believe it? The house amazingly still has all the original furniture that was bought for the house in 1928, all brought back to life by careful restoration. How wonderful to be able to show your children history in action! There's even the Newsom room, a room dedicated to preserving the history of the house! It's like having your very own museum!
The ground floor of the house has a sitting room, dining room and kitchen, all with original furniture and open fires (in the case of the kitchen a cast iron range), plus a cloakroom. Upstairs there is one double room, one twin, and a gorgeous family bath and shower room. Outside there are two large gardens with room for barbeques and drinks, and unrestricted on-road parking in front of the house.
The front door leads into the ground floor hallway, which connects the dining room, kitchen, ground floor cloakroom, sitting room and has stairs to the first floor.
This double aspect room has an open fire and large windows to the front of the room and to the rear overlooking the garden. In the room there is fully restored original furniture, purchased in 1929, soon after the house was built. There is one sofa and two armchairs, and a subtly concealed flat screen TV with a DVD player and an iPod docking station.
This room retains it period character, with the original (non-working) range cooker and hot water boiler, but has modern amenities, including a free standing dual fuel cooker and fridge tucked away behind the scenes in the pantry.
Frozen in time, this room exudes the calm and gentle atmosphere of the 1920s with its open fire, original furniture and restored bay window to the front garden.
A set of original stairs from the ground floor leads to a first floor landing from which both bedrooms, the bathroom and Newsom Room can all be accessed.
This double aspect room has views over both the front and rear gardens, an original fireplace and once again it retains the original furniture, including it’s restored double bed, purchased for the room in 1929. There is also a set of drawers, built in wardrobe, dressing table and bedroom chair.
The room overlooks the front garden and has twin beds, a dressing table, chest of drawers and built-in wardrobe.
To the rear of the property there is a spacious family bathroom, complete with roll-top bath with shower over, W.C. and hand basin.
