Amazingly equipped holiday cottage – really appreciated the little luxuries – and such a treat to have a decent knife and equipment to use. Excellent meal at the Oysterage, amazing bedding. We were lucky enough to get to Orford Ness – wow, what an amazing place – a definite must if you get the chance. Ickworth House was fantastic on-route. Orford is such a special place, we will think of you every time we have some fantastic Pinney’s produce – yum!” Ground floor Enter up a step through the wide double glass doors into the sophisticated open plan living space, with high ceilings and oak flooring which leads through to the chic spacious bedroom with attractive en-suite bathroom. Living Space You’ll enjoy preparing meals in the contemporary kitchen of this great living space. Equipment includes a feature white SMEG fridge/freezer, Bosche dishwasher and single oven/grill with four-ring NEFF ceramic hob, beautifully integrated into the wooden worktops, with a built-in wine rack. There are two tall white stools at the breakfast bar, making this kitchen a super place to socialise and cook together. To the side of the kitchen, next to the patio doors with linen voiles, is a drop leaf dining table and two chairs and to the other side of the double doors is a comfortable modern living area. Underfoot is a large, thick pile rug and you can take is easy on the huge couch after a long day of mooching around wonderful Orford, perhaps making use of the SKY channels on the wall mounted flat screen TV. Bedroom Down a small step through a doorway from the living space is a bright and airy elegant bedroom with high ceiling, feature colour wall with a window, and additional high velux window with a blind and soft woollen carpet underfoot. This room offers a peaceful ambience with a calming mix of textures and colours. It is furnished with a king size bed, bedside tables, wall fixed bedside lamps and a double wardrobe with hanging rail, drawers and shelves. Bathroom A door from the bedroom leads through to the bathroom, which has a bath with fixed rain shower over plus an additional hand shower and folding glass screen. The Victorian style floor tiles and white bathroom suite give this room a contemporary feel whilst the large velux and wall window with blinds allow the natural light to flood in. Outside With a slight step out of the kitchen/living area there is generous sized cottage garden, with table and chairs to enjoy alfresco dining next to the outstanding view of the keep of Orford Castle. There is also a BBQ for guests to use. Just a short walk takes you to either the market square with its bounty of excellent local food, or to the picturesque quay offering river cruises and the home of Pinney's delicious smoked fish, where you can enjoy a 25% discount courtesy of the owners of The Curious Oyster.

ORFORD

Snape Maltings 5 miles; Woodbridge 12 miles;

The attractive, unspoiled fishing village of Orford is situated on the bank of the River Alde and looked over by its magnificent 12th century castle built by Henry II. The village is home to a hotel and restaurant, two pubs, village store, bakers and wonderful fish restaurant and smokehouse. Orford is surrounded by farm land and forest in an area known as the Suffolk Coasts and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Centrally located, just 12 miles from Woodbridge to the south and Aldeburgh to the north, and just 5 miles from the famous Snape Maltings complex. The village of Orford is steeped in history. Henry II commissioned a castle to be built in the 12th century which is a must see when you visit the area. Owned and maintained by English Heritage you can enjoy this wonderful 'keep' and from the top there are breathtaking views for miles on a clear day.
