Long a destination for famous writers and artists, Southwold retains a distinctive character which has made it the choice of the discriminating holiday maker. From Sailor's Rest the Pier is just a few minutes’ walk away and is home to Tim Hunkin’s fun amusement arcade machines.

The beach with its memorable row of colourful beach huts stretches either side of the pier and, in the town above, history is captured in the Sailors’ Reading Room, the fine fifteenth century Church of St Edmund, and the working lighthouse.

Southwold boasts a fine range of independent shops and galleries and several excellent restaurants and pubs. Our favourites, the Nelson and the Sole Bay Inn, are both Adnam’s pubs serving a range of beers from the local brewery.
