“A cute and comfortable cottage, very well presented and furnished.”

We love Southwold and have visited many times. The location of the property is perfect for the town, beach and walks to the harbour, Walberswick.and beyond. A very relaxing stay. Sykes did not respond to reported (minor) issues and ongoing refuse collection issues. We did recycle locally as much as possible (glass Adnams; paper, plastic bottles & cans Gun Hill). Contractor refuse collectors did not visit.

“We had a mass of flies in the kitchen, bathroom tap very loose, basin cupboard filthy, towels stained with holes, outside bin overflowing with rubbish and cracked outside window pane in dining area.”

Arranged for maintenance to come, took rubbish, cleaned cupboard and cleared messy yard. Couldn't fix tap, took photo of pane. Also mouldy shower mat. Cottage was charming in good position, some lovely features but badly let down by housekeeping. A real shame

“This is the second year running we have stayed in Parsley Cottage.”

It is a very well equipped and beautiful cottage for a stay in the lovely town of Southwold. We have a couple of quibbles, in the dining room there is a cracked window pane which we pointed out last year and the tap in the bathroom basin is loose, again pointed out in last year’s review. Our biggest concern was with refuse collection. At the start of June Suffolk County Council introduced a new recycling system and it looks as if this does not apply to Parsley Cottage. It looks as if the very small wheelie bin has not been emptied since this system was introduced. Having said all of this we will most probably book the accommodation again for next year for lots of reasons, proximity to the beach and all of the facilities in the town. And not too far from the nearest pub.

“This was a late booking.”

It was close to everything, had all we needed and we slept well. Due to the time of year, we did not have any problems with noise from the pub next door. We also knew how difficult the steps were and we were very careful. Maintenace issues were dealt with quickly. We wished we'd reported the small bedrooms radiator earlier, but I'm sure that would have been dealt with once we left. Thank you for letting us stay.

“Lovely cottage in a superb location which is really well equiped.”

We loved the kitchen which had everything you need at your fingertips. The bed was super comfortable with lovely bed clothes which felt really luxurious. The only slight criticism is that I didn't find the front room furniture that comfy but my wife didn't think it was that bad so it might have been me. Thanks for letting us stay.

“We had a lovely stay at Parsley cottage, staying between Christmas and New year.”

Great bits - location was excellent, 2 min walk to the beach or the high street. We found parking easy enough on the road nearby, but imagine may be harder in the summer. Cottage was really cosy, furniture and interior design all lovely and can see it’s all been newly furnished and renovated. Kitchen was well stocked had everything we needed and worked well. Bedrooms were comfortable and bedding nice, lots of storage if you needed it. Welcome bits were a nice touch thank you. Organisation through Sykes was easy just picked up key from the lock box there, no other issues. Less good bits - probably just that it’s right next door to a pub so can be noisy from the lounge if people are sitting outside or passing by. Not a huge issue in December but probably more in summer. Stairs were narrow and steep which fine for us but others may struggle. Overall a lovely stay and great location for the cost- thanks a lot

“The stairs are very steep and narrow and can be slippery when sand is added the back yard is badly maintained and the seats in the front can obviously be noisy but that is understandable with the pub next door.”

“Lovely stay at an iconic cottage in this lovely town.”

Furnished to a very high standard. Very comfortable clean and everything worked as it should. Only downside is the stairs. Visitors should note the stairs are very steep and narrow as its its an old property. Otherwise super location, was able to park right outside and the pub was actually quite quiet of an evening.

“Sweet cottage but not really dog friendly with the lack of enclosed private garden.”

The stairs are very steep and care always has to be taken. On Sunday night we could not get the oven to work even when reading the operating manual. First time I have been to a rental where the welcoming package does not include milk and basics which would be a proper welcoming package. Great location to pub and beach and quiet eve though next to pub.

The Sole Bay Inn being next door was fine. Really well equipped kitchen. Parked immediately outside for the week. Comfortable rooms and beds with adequate storage for family of 4. Being able to open the living room window would be ideal.

“We did very much enjoy our stay, it's a lovely property and so special to spend time in the heart of such a wonderful town.”

Visit the Electric Palace if you can and definitely go on the new tour up the lighthouse. But there were a few things we picked up on... - Cutlery, plates, bowls etc were not clean and had not been checked (lovely set though) - It felt uncomfortable not being able to open the sitting room window (painted shut) - both in terms of not being able to get some air flow without opening the front door (difficult when you have the dog) plus from an escape route point of view - Wheelie bin missing wheels, so very difficult to move - you just have to drag it (commented on by bin men) - No recycling facilities or dedicated bin - doesn't look good in this day and age - Lovely tiles in bathroom, but state of paintwork very poor - flaking off due to high humidity; it just loses the property that 'premium' feel - Fridge very unergonomic layout - Freezer still full of out of date food, plus it is in desperate need of defrosting - only 50% capacirty left due to icing - Broken pane of glass in dining room (acknowledged by owner) - Cooker clock and lounge clock not set correctly (attention to detail) - Very noisy sound coming from pub in rear bedroom resulting in poor sleep (possibly their cooling - outside of your control) - 24/7 bright light coming from sweet shop resulting in poor sleep - conflict between warm nights needing open curtains and bright light needing curtains closed (outside your control) - I'm afraid we found all the matresses to be rather uncomfortable - Missing set of towels and bath mat upon arrival (brought over after a day or so) - Something for the future perhaps? An external power socket (or even a charging point) for electric vehicles... - Our experience, not in anyway feedback or criticism - we were luckly enough to be able to park direclty outside the house for the week. Problem we had was that people still squeeze between the car and the picket fence, regardless of how much room you leave, resulting in a dented door and a deep scratch from a pushchair. Plus my black car was practically white by the end of week! And the seagull poo doesn't do your paintwork any good. My advice to anyone staying in Southwold is wash your car as soon as you can! But relish your time there, there's nowhere quite like it....

“Parsley Cottage was an absolute delight.”

The facilities, location and furnishings were all top class. The kitchen was beautiful. Bedding was extremely comfortable. The heating/weather system was extremely useful. Welcome gifts always very much appreciated. Just a couple of points for the owner - the WiFi login details in the Welcome Pack were incorrect (we found the correct info on the router in the lounge). The stairs are extremely narrow and very steep - perhaps that should be outlined in the ad; anyone with a slight mobility issue would struggle. A bathmat in the shower room would be very nice (other guests had also requested that). The floor is stone cold tiling - not very comfortable. We have an electric car and discovered the charging point about 20 m away, by the Adnams Brewery. Perfect. A mention of that in the ad would I'm sure be a bonus to other EV owners. All in all - a delightful stay in a town that we know and love very much, thank you!

Guests are warmly welcomed into the living room, leading through to the quaint dining room with a kitchen and bathroom beyond. Two charming bedrooms sit on the first floor with a large king overlooking the green and twin at the back. Ground Floor Wooden and stone flooring run throughout the ground floor, which consists of living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. Sitting Room This cosy yet stylish room is the heart of the home. There is a luxurious Laura Ashley two-seater sofa and two arm chairs, with a gorgeous flame effect fire to sit and enjoy. There is a a 42'' wall mounted SMART TV with freeview for your entertainment. Dining Room Centred between the sitting room and kitchen, this wonderful space has a dining table with four chairs, for you to sit and enjoy those culinary delights. The room has a flame effect fire to create a cosy atmosphere, with additional heat provided through the stylish cast iron radiators. Kitchen A gorgeous cream kitchen with black granite worktops is currently being installed to create the perfect space to cook up a storm. Light streams through the large window, complete with shutter blinds. There will be an integrated fridge with icebox freezer, electric oven with four ring induction hob and slim-line dishwasher. The cupboards are filled with beautiful Emma Bridgewater crockery for you to be able to enjoy that well deserved cup of tea and slice of cake in stylish fashion. Southwold is a seaside town situated along the East Suffolk coast within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and resting between Lowestoft and Ipswich. Southwold is known as the home of Adnams Brewery which was established in the town in 1872 and it also has its own lighthouse, a museum and a picturesque pier which has a selection of colourful beach huts and which plays host to the regular Southwold Model Yacht regatta. The town boasts a number of excellent restaurants and eateries with a particular nod to its seaside location so there is always plenty of seafood and fish on the menu. Southwold has some fantastic independent shops, boutiques, galleries and pubs which are great for a browse and to stock up on essentials for your holiday. Just outside Southwold there are a number of great attractions for the whole family including Africa Alive Zoological Reserve, RSPB Minsmere and Dunwich Museum as well as scenic towns such as Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Leiston and Lowestoft to visit.
