Ed Sheeran Ends His Tour in Ipswich!

Ed Sheeran comes home to Ipswich!

As the bank holiday comes to an end, Best of Suffolk have been reflecting on the magnificent weekend.  England winning at Headingley, the 30 degrees + weather and Ed Sheeran performing a series of homecoming gigs at Ipswich.

The four night performance at Chantry Park finished Ed’s 260 night world tour.  Of special significance to Ed thanks to the proximity to his home town of Framlingham, it as a weekend to remember!

Local Boy Done Good

Ipswich, in fact the whole of Suffolk, welcomed Ed into Chantry Park.  Raised in Suffolk, he was performing to his home crowd.  With over 1 million people attending to see him over the 4 nights, Ipswich was buzzing!

Castle on the Hill

The global superstar opened his concert with ‘Castle on the Hill’ written about Ed’s home town of Framlingham.  Roars from the crowds of delighted Sheeran fans singing their hearts at about “those country lanes” we all love so well.

Football Shirt

Famed for wearing a football shirt from the local team of the stadium in which he is performing, Ed’s visit to Ipswich didn’t disappoint!  Ed was supporting his home football team, Ipswich and Framlingham.  The crowds had opportunities to purchase a Ipswich football shirt with the cover of ‘Divide’, Ed’s recent album on.

Competition Winner

Best of Suffolk ran a competition to give away 2 Ed Sheeran tickets for the Friday night.  The winners of the competition met up with Tim and Matthew from Best of Suffolk to collect their tickets and from there had a wonderful evening singing along to Ed Sheeran’s classics!

Ed also ensure the pupils of Thomas Mills high School (his former school in Framlingham) were each given two complimentary tickets each to attend the concert.

From the Best of Suffolk team, Becky, Donna, Matthew and Tim, along with their friends and families, all had a wonderful time.  They continue to make the rest of the team jealous with stories of the evening.  We hope you’ve all enjoyed seeing this Suffolk boy return home after achieving such global success.
