The Hive, Southwold

The Hive is very well situated for staying in Southwold.

It has the added bonus of a parking space. Being on the ground floor it’s ideal for those who have mobility issues and the wet room is great. There’s been a lot of thought put into the accommodation. We hope to return in the future.

The Hive was an amazing holiday home to spend NY in and had the wow factor from the moment we arrived!

! Fantastic location, incredibly warm with thermostats in every room, homely, comfortable beds, ridiculously spacious, its own parking space and bathrooms galore!!! Our only feedback would be that the TV could be modernised for those cosy evenings in and perhaps a blue tooth speaker or DAB radio would be a great addition…..

Yes, good property, our 2nd stay.

2 things that should be addressed. The front door has no curtain or blind which would make for privacy especially for night time as there is a footpath through to the Green only 2 yards away from the front door. Also in the small bedroom the broken blind at the window on our first visit has not been replaced which leaves the room very open to passers by and nearby properties.

not good a great deal of scafolding going up all around the property the noise was arendus we were looking for quite week it spolt our week

The kids loved the park being right outside. It had everything we needed. It’s the most perfect location. The Hive was clean, spacious and we could not recommend enough. Thank you!

Lovely property.

Only 1 improvement needed is a new mattress on the double bed, as dips badly on both edges.

Really good apartment too a high spec but rug in the en suite bedroom is in a poor state and dangerous for tripping needs replacement.

Also ants in the wet room are disconcerting. Also would be good to have kitchen roll. Nice that a bottle and biscuits were available

As we had a frail person with us, anti-slip mats under rugs would be useful otherwise the property suited our needs completely. Shout out to your cleaner as the standard of housekeeping was faultless

The Hive exceeded our expectations.

We did not realise on booking how user friendly it was for a disabled person and the car parking was a real bonus. The only minor thing if l am being really picky it would be useful for a usb socket in the odd plug. All in all would definitely recommend friends and book again.

Have stayed at The Hive many times as we’re frequent visitors to Southwold.

It’s one of our favourite holiday homes. Great location, warm and clean. However a few things a looking a bit tired..the seating in the lounge could do with a shampoo, as could the rugs in the bedrooms. A spare key would be a great help, especially as there were 4 adults staying this time, coming and going at different times..and only having one key was a little restricting. But overall we had a great stay..and will definitely look at booking again. Thanks for the Prosecco and biscuits, and great to have some tea bags etc too to start off our holiday. Thank you ☺️

Floors slippy in bedroom….

rugs need fastening down with grippers as one of our party slipped and fell. Squeaky door on twin bedroom and bathroom. Cold draught coming through twin bedroom window (part not double glazed) Clothes maiden fastener broken/loose on top

A well appointed, comfortable and ideally located apartment with a designated parking space.

Location in Southwold allows you to explore the town on foot as well as providing a base from which to explore the coastal area by car. Would we go back? Yes.

Lovely spacious,very stylish apartment.

Thank you for the Prosecco and biscuits. Very welcome after a long drive. The apartment is little closer to the swings etc on the green than anticipated but didn’t cause us a problem. Only used by very small children with their parents. Did find the very stylish taps in the bathrooms a little difficult to negotiate. All the windows have venitian blinds which don’t block out the morning light in the main bedroom. As the mornings were beginning to be quite bright we did get woken up earlier than we would have liked.Wouldn’t be a problem in the winter. May be possible to add curtains in the main bedroom? iGreat to have our own parking space. Easy to walk into town/beach. All in all a lovely place to stay.

The flat is spacious warm in winter and beds comfortable, the location with parking is ideal, probably one of the best in Southwold.

However there are some points to be borne in mind for anyone considering renting. Two of the lights in the kitchen/living room do not work because replacement bulbs are no longer made. Two people can have a good reading light by sharing an adjustable lamp by the sofa. This only matters if you want to read on long dark evenings. .We reported to the agents that the en suite shower door is jammed and will not close. This was noted by the agent but no immediate action was proposed as there is another shower in the wet room across the passage. Some of the design features assume very tall residents, eg mirrors above wash basins and top shelves in kitchen cupboards are very high. The saucepans and crockery are of good quality but incredibly heavy. The Smeg kettle is so heavy that even when empty it requires immense effort to lift, fill under the tap, and to use. There is only one very big frying pan and for two people all three saucepans are enormous and also very heavy. All these could be problematic if you have mobility issues. It is not possible to turn gas rings low enough to simmer,and the smallest one, front right, would not light despite numerous efforts.. The electric oven is fine. We could not work out from the manual how to use the microwave. The hot water button control mentioned in the notes could not be found, but there was a switch which we could turn on when we wanted hot water. The clock for the underfloor heating was not set correctly, and should be checked and reset; no button could be found on the Right hand side. . When on the bathroom floors were comfortable and the electric towel rails much appreciated. Excellent towels provided. The information about glass recycling was out of date - it is not on or near Southwold market, nor would it appear to have been there for many years. There did not seem to be a local contact so problems were reported to the agent in Chester who replied after consulting the owner. We reported the lighting and shower door and otherwise coped.

A really great flat, plenty of room for the four of us.

So nice being on the ground floor and with the bonus of parking. Will hopefully stay here again very soon.

Lovely apartment in a perfect position.

Brilliant to have our own parking space. Very comfortable beds. Cosy underfloor heating. Lovely welcome gift of cookies and Prosecco. Only tiny negative was that the bathrooms seem a bit ‘tired’ and could benefit from a refresh. We still had a lovely stay and would love to come back.

I rated our stay very low because we came home after after three days, unfortunately I am physically disabled, needing equipment to get around, The Hive didn’t really lend it self to this.

It was entirely my fault, I should have looked into it more. The other factor was it overlooks a huge children’s play ground, which comes right up to the lounge window, we were trouble with inquisitive people, mostly adults peering in.

We really enjoyed our stay in Southwold.

Upon arrival we were pleasantly struck with how clean the property was and beautifully presented!

We absolutely loved the central Southwold location (just a short walk to all of the shops, cafes and the beach) and the parking space, which is a real bonus given parking is at a premium locally. Our lively 6 year really enjoyed being able to run straight out of the back door into a big playpark! We also really appreciated the pingpong rackets and balls. Just a couple of minor issues to flag - We found it initially very hard to open the master bedroom garden door and the backdoor in the kitchen/lounge was consistently tricky to open and shut so may need looking at. We also felt that in contrast to the beautifully presented interior the outside space at the back overlooking the playpark was definitely in need of some TLC and some weeding! The description had described it as a spot for a morning coffee and yet the bench seat is broken and there are weeds all over the ground, so it could do with a bit of a tidy up and could be made every bit as lovely as the inside of the apartment with very little effort. The Adams Fizz and oats biscuits welcoming us on arrival were a lovely touch, and overall we really enjoyed our stay in the Hive, and will definitely be back, thank you!

Really lovely apartment- a lot more space than we expected.

Very helpful and detailed instructions on where everything is and how it worked. Had a wonderful weekend break and already looked to book again next year (though noted the prices have significantly increased)!
