Seal Cove

Seal Cove is a lovely split level apartment with every convenience and comfort that you could need.

Our slight misfortune was to go on what turned out to be an extremely windy Christmas long weekend. The wooden windows were extremely draughty, especially as it turned out the main bedroom window hadn't actually been shut as fully as it could have been. Our first night before we spotted this was cold, windy and noisy from the wind and the gulls. Perhaps some nice thick curtains to draw across would have aided the situation. Once I'd spotted the issue and managed to more firmly close the window things thankfully improved somewhat although quite a draught still persisted

Lovely apartment in good location,the only drawback was the sound of the air exchanger which is noisy!

We had a problem with closing the door to the balcony,but after phoning a maintenance man came and soon solved the problem.Very efficient.

The accommodation was comfortable, modern with all you would need for an enjoyable stay.

Bedding and towels of good quality. The position close to the high street and sea front is great with parking and the balcony area a bonus.

Had a wonderful stay at Seal Cove, again.

A beautiful appartment providing literally everything you need for a succesful family holiday. Highly recommended!

Lovely apartment centrally located with parking space.

Can walk easily to the town, No mention of stairs in the description which we found challenging. En suite wasn’t mentioned either but was welcome. Heating was full on when we arrived on a hot day. Windows only open a fraction so was difficult to cool the flat. Wouldn’t want to stay there during a very hot spell

We stayed at Seal Cove this time last year also.

We found it hard to beat which is why we stayed again this year. Brilliant situation very close to everything. Great living space and we absolutely love thebalcony. Well equipped kitchen and lovely property throughout. Thank you for the wine and biscuits left for us! A great overall apartment with no minus points at all! I had also earlier requested if it was possible for us to get into the property slightly earlier if it was ready. I was very impressed as received a phone call on the day to say that we would be able to get in from 3 pm. Just a small point – it might be an idea to leave your guests with a bit more toilet roll! We had brought our own in case we ran out - but for the cost of a toilet roll to keep your guests happy, it might be worth it!

We have stayed here many times and woukd do so again.

However the double bed is very hard and I had to move to one of the singles which was only slightly better. Also the TV is too small with a poor picture and needs updating. Some smaller items of crockery would also be nice. Smaller plates, a couple of cups and saucers, smaller bowls. A whisk! On the whole a lovely holiday apartment.

Disappointed in the detail!

We've stayed here several times before, and always enjoyed our stay, but this time noted a few frays at the edges. - the entertainment info states the presence of a Firestick to allow streaming of programmes via the TV. No Firestick was obvious, so no possibility of streaming. Eventually discovered it by accident behind a box of tea bags on the top shelf of the kitchen wall cupboard! Plugged it in, but couldn't get it to work. - the toilet flush in the bathroom only worked intermittently (water dribbling constantly into the pan, presumably the valve needs sorting), so couldn't be trusted to flush. - the extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work, so the room tended to get steamed up. - the radiators in the bathroom and ensuite both need bleeding, as the top half was permanently cold. - dust obvious along the top of the bedhead, so a bit more attention to cleaning more thoroughly needed. We didn't bother to report these at the time, as we were only there for a few days, and it's a pity really, because it takes the edge of what is a delightful and well-appointed duplex. It hasn't put us off considering a return to Seal Cove, but you need to be aware that when you're paying for a top end stay, it's the details that make all the difference

Excellent location in the middle of Southwold.

We really enjoyed our stay at Seal Cove, having a parking space was really handy. The apartment itself was great, roof terrace was lovely and the bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable. The sofa in the lounge wasn’t particularly comfortable but we didn’t spend much time sitting on it! We stayed as a family of 4 and felt very safe and happy at the apartment. Hope to be back!

The apartment was immaculate when I arrived.

I really liked it's clean modern look. Everything worked fine, but some doors and windows were hard to shut properly. Really good location in the town and the patio/balcony appeared to get the sun all day. I contacted Best of Suffolk and they were very helpful. Great base for exploring Southwold or further afield. Marked parking space a bonus.

We enjoyed the spaciousness of the property and appreciated it was so well equipped.

Our stay was very enjoyable and we would stay there again. This was the second time we rented this property. We couldn't find the code to empty our bins so contacted the office. It would be helpful if a note of this could be left with the welcome pack.

Excellent apartment, location and car parking.

The only two downsides worth mentioning are that the king-size bed is a little on the firm side and most of the wood doors and windows don't fully close as they're swollen.

Information folder completely out of date with regards to recycling and facilities in town.

i.e. no bank in town etc. Washing machine didn't work well and tumble dryer not at all! Would have been difficult to dry clothes if the weather had been bad. For recycling and waste would help if the code was available to access the bin store. Did email the help line but the code they gave didn't work. However, the apartment was generally first rate apart from the niggles above and would thoroughly recommend it.

I'd like to give the apartment a better rating but honestly 3 stars is as high as I can go.

The flat is comfortable and quite well equipped and is in a very good location. However there are a number of drawbacks with the property. We laughed at the roof terrace which is described in the listing as "stunning" which implies quite a lot but this "stunning roof terrace had not been cleaned recently and was covered in bird droppings - its "stunning" view was of window and brick walls! Parking for a second car is a real problem - "available roadside parking" was hard to find and we had to keep moving ours due to a four hour limit on road parking. Sykes did not reply to my email about the fact that the Kings Head pub which is one of the landmarks used for finding the flat closed 11 years ago and is now a solicitors! I'm surprised Sykes weren't more responsive as I would have thought they would want to keep their customers onside in what is a very crowded holiday lets market place By the way if you are an arachnophobe do not book Seal Cove as there were many very large spiders about the place - mainly in all corners of the high ceiling in the living room.

Everything about seal cove was brilliant - very clean with all facilities, comfortable beds and settees and really loved the roof terrace - plus it was right in the heart of Southwold within easy walking distance of the shops and the sea.

The only minus is the fact that there are no curtains in the bedrooms - the blinds just don't do the job as once the sun has risen at 5.00am, the bedrooms are bathed in light

We returned to Seal Cove after staying there the previous year.

It is such a lovely light space to relax in. But also so comfortable, well equipped and a well organised space so a pleasure to stay in. The location is also great. Thank you.

While the property itself was nice and clean, I was very disappointed to find stains on pillow protectors and on the duvet.

The property including the communal staircase is ready for redecoration. The property is well placed and nice and modern.

Lovely apartment, great position, parking a bonus, throughly enjoyed our stay only negative blinds in bedrooms do not block out light efficiently it really needs curtains too.

The bedroom curtains are not sufficient, we had to hang blankets and ultimately buy eye masks!

Black out blinds required. Otherwise wonderful apartment in a perfect location.

We have stayed in this property before but have always found the beds too hard and the quilts too heavy.

The toilet in the en-suite doesn’t flush well and the shower is very slow in draining the water so the shower tray fills up very quickly. Otherwise a very comfortable bright and cheerful accommodation and nicely furnished.

Just a perfect property that works so well for a holiday and has a perfect location to the town and the surrounding town and facilities ie shops, sea, walks etc.

a good level and standard of equipment . Shall be back again as such an easy, enjoyable and relaxing holiday and place to stay.

Delightful property (we've stayed here before) badly let down by very poor customer service.

Advertised as having Wifi (important to me, as I needed to complete some work on-line), but Wifi not working when we arrived (booked to stay 8th - 12th May). We had not been advised of this problem, so had to contact Admin, & was told the router had developed a fault the previous day (Bank Holiday w/e) and we'd been sent an email advising this (we never received one!), but a new router should arrive next day (Tues) or Wed at the latest. Received an email on Tuesday to say there was a "delay in transit" & the router should be installed by Wed or Thurs at the latest. No further comms from Sykes, router still not appeared by the time we left on Friday! I can't understand why a router could not have been sourced within a day or so (I could have got one myself from Amazon with next day delivery), and there can be no excuse for lack of information from the management team. All in all, a very poor experience from property management, which caused significant inconvenience and marred our stay.

Lovely apartment very clean and tidy and enjoyed our stay.
