    “Lovely house on the edge of town with panoramic views over the reed beds.”

    Street parking was not a problem for us. Spacious accommodation with different seating areas to choose from and a modern, well-equipped kitchen. We found the beds and mattresses comfortable too. Having showers and WCs both upstairs and downstairs was ideal for our two-couple party. Plenty of hot water. Internet and a smart TV meant there were plenty of streaming possibilities. Easy walk into town for shops, pubs, and restaurants, as well as being equally close to the pier and seafront. The back garden and patio were nice, but the lawn and shrubs could do with some cutting (a small quibble for what was otherwise an excellent stay). By contrast I found the Sykes customer service to be particularly useless! Phone calls were never answered, and using the Whatsapp messaging service was a painstaking process sometimes waiting 24-48 hours for a response. In the end I had to contact the owner directly on arrival at the cottage to find out the information I needed.

The property

Long View is a truly beautifully presented holiday home in Southwold, located just a short proximity from the sandy beach, iconic Southwold Pier and bustling High Street. The ground floor offers an open plan space for family and friends to come together, with a beautiful sitting room/study located at the front, with comfortable seating positioned to enjoy the wonderful wood-burning stove and Smart TV with guest Netflix. To the rear of the property opening out onto the garden is the light and airy kitchen/dining room, with every mod-con needed to cook up a storm. In addition on the ground floor is a bathroom, perfect for washing those sandy toes after a day at the beach. On the first floor are three well-appointed bedrooms, one king size, a double and a twin bedroom. In addition there is a shower room on this floor. The private garden offers a truly tranquil space to dine alfresco on those sunny days, it is a great spot to enjoy as the sun is setting. Ground Floor Entering into the entrance hall with space for your shoes and coats. Sitting room/Study Area With views across the marshes, this room features ample seating for the whole family to sit and relax, whilst enjoy the Smart TV with guest Netflix account, or whilst enjoying the roar from the wood-burning stove. There is a perfectly positioned desk area for those looking to do a spot of work whilst away. Kitchen/Diner Located at the rear of the property, opening out onto the garden space. This room features an electric oven with four ring induction hob and extractor fan above, dishwasher, microwave, 70/30 fridge-freezer, washing machine, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine and toaster. Southwold is a seaside town situated along the East Suffolk coast within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and resting between Lowestoft and Ipswich. Southwold is known as the home of Adnams Brewery which was established in the town in 1872 and it also has its own lighthouse, a museum and a picturesque pier which has a selection of colourful beach huts and which plays host to the regular Southwold Model Yacht regatta. The town boasts a number of excellent restaurants and eateries with a particular nod to its seaside location so there is always plenty of seafood and fish on the menu. Southwold has some fantastic independent shops, boutiques, galleries and pubs which are great for a browse and to stock up on essentials for your holiday. Just outside Southwold there are a number of great attractions for the whole family including Africa Alive Zoological Reserve, RSPB Minsmere and Dunwich Museum as well as scenic towns such as Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Leiston and Lowestoft to visit.
