Garden Cottage, Southwold

Our second visit to Garden Cottage, it suits us so well, a short walk to the watering holes, restaurants, cafes and shops.

And also quiet and wonderfully close to the promenade. Great for dog owners like us and the cottage has everything you need. Plus you can hear the sea in bed!

A fantastic cottage with excellent facilities!

Next year will be our third stay here, it feels like our second home!

Parking on arrival was a nightmare, not what we were lead to believe.

Needs a filter kettle as there was a disgusting scum on any tea or coffee we made.

Garden Cottage is well kept and has everything you need for a comfortable, relaxing stay.

It is well located for the beach and town at Southwold, with the added bonus of peace and tranquility in it's set back position. We've already booked again for next year!

Lovely cottage tucked away in a perfect location, across the road from the beach and pier and a short walk to town.

Three good bedrooms, with a well equipped kitchen, modern bathroom and a nice enclosed garden for our dog. Will definitely be back.

Garden Cottage is perfectly situated for all that Southwold offers, close to the beach, pier and shops.

The cottage size is deceptive on arrival, as only the front entrance is visible, once inside it becomes apparent there is plenty of space with three good bedrooms, bathroom and a great kitchen dining & lounge. The garden is fully enclosed and private perfect for relaxing and keeping your dog safe! We will definitely be going back excellent value for money.

I will be following this survey with a letter of complaint and supporting photos to Sykes detailing my concerns.

These include the dampness of the property, the black mould on the walls, the freezer in desperate need of a defrost and clean, the dirty fridge and wallpaper bubbling off the wall due to damp. The cottage advertised as sleeping 5 did but there was only seating for 4 and the dining table was pushed up against the wall making it unusable for 5. Fortunately we were able to visit another property to celebrate Christmas with extended family. As you can see from my concerns I was extremely unhappy with this property and would recommend Sykes review it as soon as possible.

Homely feel. Perfect location. Accessible for a walking frame being all on on level. There was so much we loved about the property and would highly recommend.

Had a wonderful stay in Garden cottage. It’s our favourite place to stay being so close to the beach.The driveway approaching the cottage looked nice and clean and trimmed. The grass in the garden had been cut that looked lovely. The cottage seemed to have an extra sparkle we thought! Very lucky with the weather we were down on the beach every day and having breakfast watching the waves and brave swimmers,surfers!

Lovely cottage in a great location

We had a lovely stay in April 2024 as a couple with one dog - Very clean , well equipped and convenient to walk to beach , town , pubs and restaurants - We managed to park right outside on the seafront road every day we were there - We will definitely return to this cottage outside of the school holidays now we are retired.

Not very clean, lots of cobwebs and windows extremely dirty.

Garden Cottage was clean , comfortable and warm with all equipment required for a week’s holiday.

The wine and crackers were a nice welcoming touch . This was our second visit but won’t be the last.

The property was very quiet and ideally located.

It is well equipped with everything you require in the kitchen area, although the fridge could have been slightly bigger, but there is an individual freezer in a separate area. The garden area was a good size but it was starting to look tired and the furniture required cleaning before we could use it. The garden was also overgrown. The property was clean ,although some areas appeared not to have been cleaned for some time. We had an enjoyable stay in Southwold and the property was generally okay just a few things which could improve it.

Furnishings, cutlery , crockery etc were good quality and well maintained.

The garden area was beginning to feel tired....the furniture was beginning to rust and felt uninviting. Generally however it was a comfortable and inviting place to stay. This was our second stay here and we would be happy to stay again.

Appreciate the need for ventilation hence the locked windows slightly ajar but would have liked the option of opening the window more at times.

Also would like to be able to offload and load up the car by using the driveway , appreciate that the car cannot be parked there 24/7 because of the flats

Lovely break at Garden Cottage.

Went for a long walk to Dunwich with the dogs, and they didn't want to get up the following morning!

It was like coming home.

Such a beautiful cottage. We come every year and its never fails to deliver. Great friends, great town, great location and a wonderful view. Thank you.
