What a gem!

A beautiful quaint cottage, located within easy walking distance of Saxmundham and ideally located to visit the surrounding area. The property is well maintained and cosy with a lovely little garden only a few steps away. A genuine home from home.

A brilliant base for exploring what is a wonderful area.

Kelsale is a quiet village and the social club opposite isn't noisy even when an event is on (as it was the weekend arrived). I wanted to like Peggoty's more than I did - I definitely felt welcomed but struggled with the feeling of busyness and amount of 'things'. The kitchen has little space available on worksurfaces and kitchen table (so many salt & peppers!); and I never managed to find peace with the multiple ticking clocks. Not for me, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be another person's happy place.

Peggotty's is a charming cosy village cottage which is perfectly equipped for self-catering and well located for pubs and quality lunch and evening meal venues.

The cottage is well decorated, the bed comfortable and there's a substantial stock of books and DVDs (the owner seems to share my interest in steam railway history!). In summary - a highly recommended bolt hole close to coastal attractions.

It is always lovely to come "home" to Peggottys!

A lovely cottage in a nice area.

No issues with noise from the community centre. Decent parking. Lots to look at in the local area. Did a fair bit of exploring, Sutton Hoo very interesting indeed. Lots of lovely places to visit

Very quiey, cosy and comfortable cottage.

Extremely well equipped with many extra small appliances, for example airfryer and coffee machine (we did miss a dishwasher, but could live without that). The welcome goodies were very much appreciated. Thank you. Extremely well stocked with maps, books and DVD's. The stairs to the second bedroom are very steep, which should be noted for the older person. The location of the cottage was perfect for us visiting RSPB Minsmere. Overall we really enjoyed our stay very much.

Very quiet location,fully equipped kitchen, comfy bed,good walking and cycling area,nearby pub excellent food Poachers Pocket,quaint and cosy cottage.

This little cottage is packed with charm and character.

It is full of pictures, ornaments and bookcases and has the most comprehensive library of maps and regional information that I have ever seen in a holiday cottage. It is also well equipped, even down to the umbrella, binoculars and shopping bag you can borrow. I found the bed a bit saggy as I prefer a firmer mattress but that is personal preference. The cottage is warm and cosy and very well situated for visiting the beautiful Suffolk coastal towns and villages. Saxmundham is walkable or a very quick drive away with supermarkets and all facilities. We did not find the parking a problem as the free car park is only a few yards from the cottage and always had plenty of space.

A super clean cosy cottage, with a well equipped kitchen, great shower and really comfy beds.

All thats missing is a friendly purring cat.

Would have liked a firmer mattress, but that's just us: for others - probably most people - it would be spot on.

We had been to Peggotys before and thoroughly enjoyed staying there.

Peggotty's is an absolute delight and possibly the most well-appointed cottage I've stayed in over 20 years of holidaying in the UK - the owners seemed to have thought of everything, and were extremely helpful sorting out a logistical problem for us .

There is a well-stocked kitchen, and plenty of books on Suffolk as well as a wide selection of fiction, children's books, games and DVDs. The little garden and summerhouse are a perfect place to sit and listen to birdsong and the location is a great base for exploring the Suffolk coast. The village social club (a beautiful Arts and Crafts-style building across the road) is also open to non-members, so you can also pop over for a drink.

We loved Peggotty's and would return.

It was clean, comfortable, warm and welcoming for our Christmas break. It is well located to explore the Suffolk coast and countryside. We made good use of the log burner. The owners had taken care to think of everything to make our stay enjoyable. Thank you.

Lovely cottage that had everything you could want and more.

Comfortable and warm, quiet and relaxing. A very big walking section on the shelf and a lot of time spent preparing such information and plans, maps and books available for the area. Appealed to us as walkers and we changed some of our plans after seeing better looking walks put there by the owners. Nice small garden to relax in at rest of property with summer house, never used as this was October/November, but in right months of the year, this would be appealing. Cottage situated in a good location, only a few miles from the coastal resorts and Sutton Hoo was also a good visit. Great inland towns and villages also only a few miles away, yes , cottage good for exploring this lovely County. Owners recommended the local pub for a meal, again spot on recommend. Would return.

Really charming cottage in a quiet, pretty village.

An ideal location for exploring the wonderful Suffolk Coast and Heaths. So many lovely villages, towns, farm shops, beaches and nature reserves within half an hour of Pegotty's Really livable, lots of utensils, products, storage. Along with nice touches left for you - tea, coffee, sugar, spices, logs for stove etc and a box of chocs). A ton of of tourist and practical info there for you too. Lots of facilities five minutes away in Saxmundham - including supermarkets, restaurants and train station. Poachers Pocket Pub is a nice walk and fantastic Sunday lunch. Only suggestion would be a larger TV. I appreciate that it's a period cottage and very well priced, but I still think 100% would be disappointed with such a small screen these days, when there's very little else to do in the evenings. All in all, an excellent value, well equipped, ideally located holiday cottage. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay at Peggotty’s, a lovely cosy cottage with absolutely everything you could possibly need!

, probably the best equipped cottage that we have ever stayed in, the owners had literally thought of everything. It is beautifully situated, with many lovely places to visit, would definitely recommend.

Such a lot of thought has obviously gone into setting up this lovely cottage.

So many books and information pamphlets with information on Suffolk and places of interest (plus instruction info on all appliances). Couldn’t fault the high quality kitchen. Bed linen and bed made for an excellent sleep. Shower took a bit of getting used to but adequate. Many thanks for a great week’s stay.

Fantastic cottage in quiet location.

Property owners were very helpful with their information prior to our stay, by way of a phone call where details were given to us of local areas to visit and good restaurants to eat at.

They have also taken time to supply a complete inventory of the many walks in the area which was most useful. We had a great stay at the cottage which was very comfortable. Would definitely return.

A fabulous stay at the cottage, we thought it might be noisy being opposite the social club but it didn't disturb at all.

Very friendly people in there and nice to drop in for a drink. The little garden was a delight. There was everything and more for use at the cottage. My only recommendations would be, time to change the pillows and a blind on the bedroom window for privacy. My husband would of liked a bigger TV in the front room as his eyes are mot as strong now. Highly recommend this cottage.

Loved this cottage the moment we walked in the door.

Probably the best equipped holiday property we have ever stayed in. Has everything. No criticisms. Lovely village and one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas in Britain. I never realised that such places still existed in this country.

We had a lovely week, 27th April - 4th May 2024.

The cottage is located in the perfect place for visiting the nearby coast and villages such as Aldeburgh, Woodbridge, Framlingham, Orford, Southwold, Dunwich, Norwich and Ipswich. The cottage itself is quite compact and not a lot of storage space in the kitchen there was an empty drawer for our own belongings. The owners did leave us milk, cookies and chocolates which were greatly appreciated however we did find a water filter in the fridge assumably by the previous guests that had a lot of mould on/inside of it which wasn’t that pleasant. The stairs are very steep and wouldn’t be very good for those who struggle to get up and down easily, especially the top stairs to the attic bedroom but we managed. The bathroom was spacious enough however the shower head could have done with being cleaned or changed but all was pleasant besides that. The cottage as a base is perfect for those just coming to travel around the nearby areas. We enjoyed our stay for the most part and would recommend this cottage to others.

A lovely little cottage sitauted in a quiet village not far from Saxmumdham.

It was central to the areas we wanted to visit too. All the facilities in the cottage worked and there was everthing one needed for a pleasant stay. Thank you.

Peggotty's is a wonderful cottage.

I liked the furnishings, the beds were so comfortable, we slept really well. The cottage was fitted out to a very high standard. It has given me some ideas for my own house. I loved all the pictures and books and ornaments. The location was perfect we visited Minsmere, The East Anglia Transport museum and we had a river cruise where we saw seals. southwold is just a short drive away and a lovely place. I would like to visit again when it's warmer as it wasn't warm enough to use the garden, which has a peaceful summer house at the end. I intend to revisit.

This cottage is absolutely amazing, it just keeps on giving!

I had everything I could wish for. The positive energy in the village and cottage was all I needed. I joint the yoga classes with Norie in the social club and met some lovely people over there. The birds in the garden while I spend time in the garden house were amazing. I would recommend shopping at Maple Farm in Kelsale. Thanks to the person who left the tastefull cucumbers in the church

Cottage was lovely and we had a good holiday and an enjoyable stay.

Only criticism is that there is no storage for food so this had to be left out. Stairs were steeper than expected but we had already been warned. As we are now older and not as mobile and found the stairs difficult we probably wouldn't be able to stay at Peggottys again.

Wonderful location near the sea.

Beautiful countryside. A little compact but had all one needs for a lovely break.

Peggotty's is a nice cottage.

..immaculately clean and well kitted out. The owners have done an exemplary job. We enjoyed our stay very much. We only took 1 child with us...if the other one had come, things would have been tight. Peggotty's is not a large cottage. The cottage is ideally located and very quiet. Parking is very good. The social club opposite is welcoming.

Pretty much an ideal cottage.

Great facilities, certainly all you might reasonably need and more. Easy parking outside the front door or very close . Good heating . Good sized bedroom. Nice sheets etc. The bed is marginally too hard for us but this is one the owners can never win!! A v. comfortable cottage and highly recommended. Contact with the owners was first rate and all went well. Access to Aldeburgh v good BTW as was shopping in v nearby Saxmundham. (Should you have car problems then Saxmundham Service Centre LTD trading as HOLMES AND JONES at 3 st johns rd IP17 1BE are really great. 1.5 miles away towards Sax. as we discovered. Straightforward guys).

Our third visit and another enjoyable stay, we love the new kitchen.

Lovely cottage - complete with everything you could possibly need - so well thought out Slightly cluttered as so many bits and bobs on every surface and wall - but that’s just personal taste.

One thing to be aware of - we already knew the shower was over the bath but for safety’s sake would suggest a hand rail put on the tiled wall of the bath to assist getting in and out

We were very impressed with Peggotty’s cottage.

It was quirky and cosy, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped, even down to the provision of rubber gloves! We were intrigued by the little alley way leading to “Peggotty’s garden” and the garden itself was a delight. Even the summer house was comfortably furnished. It was so convenient being able to park outside the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would seriously consider another visit.

A very conveniently placed cottage for getting out and about to visit the area.

Comfortable and well equipped with a homely feel and friendly messages from the owners. The walks leaflets are really helpful as if the owner when you phone about the key arrangements. This was our second visit and we wuld use the cottage again for another holiday in the area.

The property was exactly as described.

We've stayed here three times and each time we've found the owners have made improvements. Ideal location for us as we like to walk.

The whole holiday was perfect, and staying at Peggotty's was a major part of that.

Perfectly placed for exploring Suffolk's coast; lovely location; and a charming, well thought out cottage. Everything we needed was there for us. We spent all but one evening at the cottage (returning to cook with the amazing local produce!) and it never felt a strain to go back. We will be returning, hopefully, in the near future

The cottage is comfortable and extremely well equipped. Parking outside the property was a bonus. I hope to return one day.

Lovely cottage and very clean with a great selection of books and interesting objects.

The only downside was the very steep and slippery steps up to the loft room and the low beams up there but we were expecting this as the description and photos were fair and accurate. A great place to stay for two adults on their own or with one or two older children. Would definitely recommend.

We absolutely loved this cottage.

Wonderfully kitted out with all of the things required to make your stay special. It's a great location and it really felt like home for the week. There were lots of special touches which elevated it above the norm too.

Peggotty's was a lovely cottage - so quaint and my daughters loved their attic bedroom.

The kitchen was really well equipped and a few lovely suprises were left which we really appreciated. Some previous reviews mentioned mobile signal/wifi - the cottage had fantastic WiFi! Due to illness we weren't able to stay for the duration of our stay but we definitely plan to return. The owners were immensely helpful and we were really grateful to them.

Quaint old fashioned cottage but with top of the range kitchen appliances and wide range of equipment.

Bathroom could be improved and perhaps a new sofa in lounge.

although cosy a bit too cluttered with pictures (82) & ornaments.

could do with wardrobe for clothes .settees & chairs uncomfortable. could do with 2 settees rather than one & tub chairs. Shower a bit difficult to get temperature right & struggle with shower curtain. would benefit from walk in shower. loads of books,advice etc . didn't realize it hadn't wifi so would stop again because of this. location good.

A thoughtful touch by the owners and a nice surprise was a bottle of milk and a nice bottle of wine was left in the frig. for us to use upon our arrival.

We loved the location of Peggottys, the easy parking outside and the close proximity to the coastline.

The cottage was very comfortable, so much equipment, and attention to detail. Also lovely extras, like a bottle of wine, biscuits and milk there for us!

This was a lovely cottage in a quite setting.

It was an extremely well equipped cottage, there was nothing that you wanted for. The thoughtful things on arrival were very much appreciated, like the teabags milk and sugar, so you could have a drink if you hadn't got your shopping on the way, not to mention the cookies and wine. It was very central for all the things that we wanted to do in Suffolk and we had a very enjoyable holiday.

The instruction manual was very useful and the visitors information valuable. The owners were contactable and approachable when we asked a question. We would definitely stay again as this provided a lovely base from which to travel. Thank you so much.

Excellent little cottage.

Perfectly placed for visiting Suffolk.

We found the cottage very clean and comfortable in a very quiet and peaceful location.

Not having internet was not a problem due to the village hall kindly sharing their's . Lyn & Peter were so helpful and at the end of a phone if needed and at the same time ensuring our privacy. We intend to rebook next year and will recommend this cottage to our friends and family.

We had a very enjoyable holiday last week.

The cottage is comfortable and very well equipped.

Although the property was as listed, we are disappointed that the owner told us there may be a little work going on in the next property.

In actuality there were a number of workmen every day from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm, banging and sawing etc. There was also no mention of the social club opposite that had a band on the Saturday evening that lasted until 1.30 am. Not exactly a restful time

Although there is no wifi on the premises, there is free wifi at the village hall situated opposite the cottage.

A welcome package awaited us , which relaxed us immediately.

Home from home, everything you needed , was there. Comfortable and cosy.

Internet connection at the property would have been useful but the option to use the facility could be found at the Village Hall opposite so it was not the end of the world.

We had a lovely stay at Peggoty's regardless.

The owners were very helpful. All in all a very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Lots of extras were provided like toilet rolls , cleaning stuff, tea , coffee - things that I thought I would have to provide going self catering!
