Lovely comfortable and well appointed cottage about 15 minutes walk into Aldeburgh and close to a Tesco and Co-Op.

Cottage was nicely furnished and really nice place to relax.Road can get a bit busy for parking but there is room on the side streets if necessary.Would stay here again.

Compass Cottage is a beautiful, well-equipped, comfortable retreat.

It really is a little jewel!! We have thoroughly enjoyed staying there and felt really sad to be heading home. Sarah, the owner has thought of everything in the way she has set the cottage up. She was also very kind and helpful when my husband injured his leg. Aldeburgh is gorgeous!! We loved the town, the beach, the fish and chips (you have to try them!) and the surrounding area. We have had a fabulous holiday and we will definitely be back! Thank you.

Compass Cottage is a very clean and comfortable place to stay in a great location.

It was easy to park nearby and there is a nice pub, a Tesco and a Co-op minutes away. A pleasant 10 minute walk to the town and beach. A very enjoyable stay.

A lovely little cottage.

Even though in close proximity to the road, traffc noise didn't cause any disturbances. Good location, easy to walk into town & The Railway across the road was very welcoming. The sun was out so we enjoyed sitting in the enclosed garden across the alleyway. Property probably not suitable for anyone with mobility issues as the stairs are very steep. I didn't find the bed that comfy, bit hard for my liking but appreciate this is personal preference. The bedroom doors need oiling / adjusting / anytime somebody got up for the loo they woke the whole household. Lovely to have plenty of crockery, cutlery & glasses so you didn't have to wash up on every occasion you had a drink. All in all fab cottage & we would happily stay again.

Compass cottage is a great place to stay, very spacious, plenty of room for us and a large dog. Clean, tidy and well equipped. Lovely secure back garden. The property is perfectly situated, 15 minute walk to the high street and the beach, with plenty of great shops, cafes and pubs to visit! Lots of walks on your doorstep. Also Tesco and co op 2 minutes walk around the corner from the cottage. Lovely welcome pack too which was much appreciated. Highly recommend Compass Cottage and would definitely return! On a side note for the owner - the little gate at the back door was broken, we were still able to keep it shut but don’t think it would be long before the latch bar comes off completely.

Very comfortable cottage on bus route to Saxmundham for railway connections.

Very nicely decorated with interesting pictures and ornaments including shells. Well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, good shower. Good central heating (we were there in December). Only 100 yards from Tesco Express and Coop Foodstore. 10-15 minutes walk to cinema and Jubilee Theatre and waterfront. Both cinema and theatre have good, varied programmes – we went to 8 events in the week. Good trails from Aldeburgh to Thorpeness and Sizewell, and to Snape Maltings. We arrived after dark in December and found the lounge lights on and a Christmas tree with lights on – a very nice welcome.

The cottage is very welcoming, beautifully decorated, bright and airy.

The beds are extremely comfortable with quality linen. The sofas were comfortable in the tv area. Kitchen perfect enough to prepare and cook meals with plenty of saucepans, frying pans and utensils. Lovely downstairs bathroom with shower. We managed to park on the street outside the house. However, even though we knew from the description that the garden was separate from the house, we didn’t realise that there was an alley running past the back gate before you enter the enclosed space the other side. We let our dog out into the ‘garden’ as soon as we arrived after a 2 hour journey and after she had wee’d, I went to walk across the narrow alley into the gated back entrance to the kitchen, but she wandered past the gate, and ran along the alley which then 3 houses down, led into the busy street. Fortunately my husband was still unloading the car and he found her. This meant that we couldn’t leave our dog in the garden space on her own at any time. So it was lead walks early morning and before bed at night. Be also aware that the heating is timed to come on from 7am until 10am and then 3.30pm until 9pm! There is no override and the temperature appears to be set quite low at 18 degrees according to a thermometer thing at the dining room end. There were times during these periods when the radiators were not warm! If you’re booked into Compass Cottage in the winter, take warm clothing and throws for the evenings. The owner, Sarah, is lovely but she doesn’t know how to change the timings as it’s programmed remotely. There is a very friendly pub literally 2 minutes walk from the cottage, two supermarkets 3 minutes away and a lovely large open space over the road opposite the pub where we exercised our dog every day. The walk into town is very pleasant past a beautifully decorated (Xmas) church and large houses. It took about 25 minutes with the dog but that’s because she sniffs every blade of grass! I would have rated this 4 stars because the garden didn’t suit us and because of the heating situation. But if you didn’t have a dog and stayed outside of winter, it would merit a 5 star as it’s a lovely cottage in a very convenient area. So it didn’t seem fair to the owners to drop a star because we have a dog. I do think that they need to revisit the heating arrangements though especially when the temperature drops below freezing.

Compass cottage is a great place to stay, conveniently located just a short walk away from the centre of Aldeburgh.

The property is very clean, comfortable and well appointed with a lot of thought given to the furnishings and equipment by the owners, the welcome pack on arrival was much appreciated. We highly recommend Compass cottage and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

So relaxing and fabulous walks despite Storm Bert! My second visit, highly recommend.

It turned out to be an excellent location for me as I had wanted to attend the firework display which was approx 500 yards away, along with the tesco express same distance.

I dont drive so that was fairly important for me. The cottage was centre for walks thru Aldeburgh out to Snape or the other way to Thorpness and beyond, all circular walks. I found the kitchen fully equipped and a thoughtful welcome pack of milk in the fridge and shortbread biscuits, I dont drink, so the wine and crisps Ive left for the next holiday!! I made contact with the owner easily when I had to request for the heating to be turned off as too warm for me. The double bed in the back room with its feather duvet was super comfortable. I would def book this cottage again.

A lovely holiday cottage, within a 10 minute walk to the Town Centre with a Tesco Express and Co-op nearby.

The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well equipped and we enjoyed a very relaxing stay. A nice welcome pack on arrival and treats for our dog. Parking outside the property can be problematic at times. Good, friendly communication from the Owner. We are looking forward to our next visit later this year.

It was very convenient to have two small supermarkets within a few minutes walk away. We really enjoyed our stay here and loved the area.

We have stayed in various cottages over the years, and I can honestly say that this cottage is definitely the best!

So comfortable, well equipped, and an ideal location for walking into Aldeburgh. The Welcome pack was a nice touch too. We arrived on a Friday evening so couldn’t park outside the cottage but found somewhere up the road. Will definitely be back!

Gorgeous cottage.

10 mins walk from beach/centre of Aldeburgh. Southwold and Walberswick approximately 30 minutes drive away. Garden is detached from cottage but there is a small enclosed path to the side . Tesco and co-op round the corner. Can highly recommend

This cottage was THE DREAM.

We had the best stay and it was so incredibly well equipped. We had been meant to take our sausage dog with us (but she’s on holiday at my mums) which meant she missed out on the cutest bag of treats in the lovely welcome pack! We were in Aldeburgh for the children to learn to sail for the week and the cottage has an outdoor tap (to rinse wetsuits and salty kit) and a lovely sun-trap garden to dry everything. We have stayed at quite a few ‘best of Suffolk’ cottages in Aldeburgh, and for us this one had everything. Amazing proximity to Tesco & Coop too so the children could have a bit of independence and go themselves. We will 100% rent this place again. Lovely communication from the owners too. Bliss.

Absolutely loved it!

The cottage was perfect - clean and comfortable with everything required for a week away. The location was great - near to the beach, High St and a very handy Co-op and Tesco. Wonderful walks - fell in love with Suffolk - will definitely be visiting again but for longer!
