“Cottage was comfy with everything we needed.”

Welcome pack was well received. Cottage looking a little tired .please weed that back yard and beyond gate so bins can sit there instead of pavements in this heat the smell was horrible when u opened front door or windows. Few things we wernt comfortable about but on the whole was ok . Lovely pub and walks just down road.

“I arrived at 3pm on Saturday and left at 3.”

20pm! The property smells. Floors had not been cleaned. Paint flaking off damp walls. The stench from the kitchen sink was revolting. Orange limescale all over both shower heads. Bedsheets not changed (just turned inside out) with disgusting stains and dirt and hairs inside the crumpled mess. Damp carpet, black mouldy walls, curtains and windows. There was absolutely no way that my dog and I were staying in this health hazard. If I could add photos to this review I would. My much needed holiday completely ruined and I am still awaiting a refund!

Thank you. This feedback is totally unexpected and is being investigated by our cleaning company's supervisor as a matter of priority. The cleaning company's supervisor has now reported back following a requested investigation that the cottage's cleanliness was and I quote: "at the exceptional level". This correlates with all the recent feedback from our other - often repeat and happy guests. All the bedding is changed on a weekly basis. They did identify some damp areas on an external wall (this is January) and the cottage is now scheduled for a deep clean and maintenance in the last week of January. This guest neither contacted me as the owner or as far as I understand it, the cleaning company, and no message was left - had that been the case a resolution would have been found as per all the previous feedback regarding our care and attention. Posting this feedback without prior discussion is unnecessary, unworthy, potentially damaging and unwelcome. But you achieved your objective... Suffice to say the next guests gave 5 Stars and actually meant they would NOT HESTITATE TO BOOK AGAIN! Property Owner

It’s so close to everything you need, beach, pubs and the shops. There were improvements made since our last stay here. Could do with some new cutlery and a new dinner set as no spare of anything. Wouldn’t hesitate to return

“Gull’s Nest is a lovely little cottage, very spacious living/ dining area and well equipped kitchen.”

Cute little yard which was nice to sit out in and have breakfast. Very close to the beach, a short walk. The beach itself had lifeguards and was lovely and sandy. Lots of nice restaurants and pubs within walking distance. We had a great time. Owners were great, left a lovely welcome pack and easily contactable.

“This property was absolutely brilliant for a last minute find, we felt very lucky.”

The location is amazing with a brilliant beach and lovely pubs within walking distance. The wonderful welcome pack included my favourite wine! We wore the pooch out with the great beach and wore my 11 yr old boy out with the body boarding. The property itself really felt like a home away from home. We would definitely stay again!

It had everything we needed to make us feel at home and walking distance to the beach. The cottage is very nicely decorated and the beds were very comfortable. “Lovely well kept, nicley decorated and clean cozy property so near to the beach and nice pub!”

Would have given more stars re comfort if the double bed had room for bedside tables (the other bedroom with the twin beds more suitable for a double bed) and the tv in a better viewing position (weirdly tucked away at an angle up a tight corner). Had a very nice stay and owners extremely helpful when we got locked out which was entirely our fault. Thank you.

Thank you for the advice. Probably our worst nightmare. Guests locked themselves out by not following our advice about the key. Our local cleaners kindly walked with them to find the key they lost, but were unsuccessful. We organised and paid for an expensive locksmith to let them in. They did not offer to pay for the locksmith but did at least replace the key they had lost. So thank you for scoring us 75/100. Property Owner

“Property had not been by 3pm.”

When cleaners arrived they didn't vacuum or mop floors at all, just changed sheets/towels and dusted. They were gone within 20mins. Windows, paintwork, floors very dirty. List of small maintance jobs need doing Nice little house nice area spoiled by lack of attention

Dear Josephine, I am truly sorry about this experience. As you know we spoke on your arrival and the there was clearly an unprecedented problem with the cleaners. The past reports on cleanliness of the cottage have been very complimentary in the main and any reports have been actioned as soon as possible. If you had raised these concerns with me during your stay - before publishing on the web site - I would have arranged to get everything fixed there and then. As it is, a thorough deep clean has now been arranged for the whole property in addition to the weekly one. “We had a really nice stay here, perfect location.”

We did stay with two young children , which was a little challenging without a stair gate but we managed just fine. Parking was never an issue and always managed to find a spot outside. Would definitely stay again, and it was really nice having a secluded area office as we did need to work when we were away. WiFi was all really good too. Thank you.

“Lovely little property.”

Well turned out had everything we needed for a short stay. Well equipped kitchen. Very small yard all concrete ok for our little dog as we were out all day everyday but might not be enough for a large breed. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely part of the country to stay. Plenty of places to visit. House comfortable and felt we could relax with our dog. Very quiet area if you want to relax but fab places to eat nearby if you don't want to cook Parking on the street but not not a problem for us.

“Lovely light seaside cottage.”

Cosy and comfy. Perfect for a little doggie too. The welcome gifts of wine, milk, crisps, cookies and bottled water was a very thoughtful touch. Quiet and peaceful location. Just a short stroll from the lovely Pakefield beach. The cordoned off steep-stepped private area of the cottage was at first intriguing to my doggie but first step up I said no and he didn't bother with it any more. I would say that if anyone is travelling alone, and likes to check out all of the house for peace of mind, no bogie man lurking etc , then this may not be for you with the cordoned off, but not locked away, upper floor. This wasn't a problem for me but could be for others. A lovely Sunday to Wednesday stay in early May! Thank you.

The CH did not appear to come on until c7.75/8pm - an additional room heater would have been useful, but this was not an issue. I would not hesitate to spend another week in this cottage.

“Enjoyed our time at Gulls Nest.”

Good location, near the beach. Local shop/ 2 good pubs serving food nearby. My only criticisms would be: lack of a vacuum cleaner/broom. Wasn’t possible to keep floors very clean as there was only a long handled brush and dustpan. It would have been good to at least be able to remove dog hairs and any crumbs etc regularly. Also, instructions for the induction hob would have been useful.Not everyone has one at home !! we never did work out why it kept turning itself off during cooking !!!! Overall our stay at Gulls Nest was very enjoyable. It was well maintained and nicely decorated.

Lowestoft 1 mile; Beccles 8 miles; Southwold 10 miles.

Located on the Suffolk coast, Pakefield is a suburb of Lowestoft, however it was historically a village in its own right and is home to the parish church of All Saints and St Margarets. Pakefield has a selection of shops, bars and restaurants as well as a real fish and chip shop, and is home to The Seagull Theatre, as well as an art gallery. Nearby Lowestoft is a traditional seaside resort with a wide range of amenities including the Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park, whilst south of Pakefield is the coastal town of Southwold, famous for its pier, busy harbour and the colourful beach huts which line the seafront. Pakefield is a good touring base for all of East Anglia including the Norfolk Broads and the cathedral city of Norwich.
