Marsh Bungalow

Had a lovely relaxing stay at Marsh Bungalow, comfortable and quiet while i was there.

Excellent base for surrounding area, walks on Carlton Marshes, boat trips and boat hire on Oulton Broad. Great train service from Oulton Broad North (for Norwich) and Oulton Broad South (for Ipswich) Not far to drive to Great Yarmouth, Southwold etc. Nice park nearby and plenty of good places to eat including the bar on site.

It's the second time we have stayed here.

The accommodation and location, next to the broads and near the coast, is very good. My wife is disabled, and uses a walker indoors. We know the property is not listed as accessible, but as before, she found the property, including the bathroom and shower, met all her needs.

I write this review as a less able bodied guest.

As a less able bodied elderly gentleman, I found the entrance difficult. There is a step up to the outside door (not really such a problem), a step over into the porch area, and another step over into the actual accommodation. Difficult for someone unsteady on their feet. Whilst the accommodation is big and spacious - and very light with it's big windows, I found the furniture difficult to get up from. Quality leather furniture, but...too low for me and the seats also had a slight backward lean, once sat down. I ended up sitting in the sun chair I bought with me, as I found it easier to get up from. Also, after dropping some crisps on the sofa, I wiped it down - and the cloth afterwards was filthy! I'm guessing the sofas had not been polished in a while. Bathroom is not good. A doll's house sized triangular sink in the corner is a bit ridiculous, to be honest. Shower has no rail to hold on to, so I couldn't have one during my entire week's stay. Kitchen nice and spacious. Fridge for me was too low for easy access. Bed was super comfortable. As I said, I write this as a less able bodied person, to give those of a similar ilk a head's up. For people without issues, I'm sure some of the things mentioned would be just fine! I liked having the big green area outside. Nice and quiet, and when the sun came out, it was very nice there. Thank you.

Lovely bungalow had everything we needed , clean, bed was really comfortable.

At first we had trouble finding it as it was in the middle of some chalets , located next to the launderette, there could of been more parking around the area. Other than that its located in a lovely area, couple mins walk to the marina , and couple of mins drive to oulton broad , kids loved the big play area. Would definitely come back we had a lovely stay.

Yes the accommodation was very clean and comfortable and had everything in it, if we could get the same cottage, we are thinking of booking it for the next half term in February.

This is the second time we have stayed here and I find it is so relaxing.

The site the chalet is on is beautiful right next to oulton broads. Will definitely be booking again for next year.

Was a great place to stay, clean and tidy.

The site was quiet and clean. The only issues, is that it smelt of pets, which masked with air freshener that was over bearing. There was no information about local shops, the hiring of boats for the lake, when the on site pub opened or closed. Great location by the lake for water activities and a stroll around general area with nice views

When we arrived, we noticed the fridge was disgusting in the seal, I messaged the owner, who said the cleaner must have missed it, bit he was that black, it must have not been cleaned for months, we noticed damage to the bottom of the double bed, which we photographed a few days later, we then get a message, after our holiday, to say we had caused the damage to the bed, this is so untrue it's an old bed made of fake leather and its peeling, we did not do this damage, but it looks like we will be charged for it, we would definitely not recommend this property.

I am disabled the only thing that spoilt my stay was the shower I am a large lady and the door does not go back far enough if it pulled out I would of been able to get in also the bed was not that comfortable but I loved the quiet side of the stay

A nice, tidy bungalow/lodge with good self-catering facilities and a well-equipped kitchen.

The lounge and bedrooms were very comfortable, and there was a powerful shower in the bathroom. The site was very quiet (it was off season). The walks to the marina and further were lovely, and we had sunny, but cold weather. The stations in Oulton Broad are very useful for journeys further afield. Our only criticism is that the timers on the electric wall radiators had not been set, so the bungalow was cold when we arrived and in the mornings. (This may have simply been an oversight as we had booked off season). We did use the 'boost' function the rest of the time to get up to a comfortable temperature. I would definitely return as it is very nice location for exploring North Suffolk and South Norfolk.

First time we had rented a property like this and was very impressed with it and would really like to come back again. Good walks right on the doorstep including around the marina and park

Property was lovely.

Everything we needed was there. Plenty of space and in a nice quiet location.

We really enjoyed our stay, the sofas and beds very comfortable, also cool and shady due to the porch in the hot weather, was quiet and relaxing even in the school holidays, swimming pool nice and warm and the train station next to us to go out for the day, also a lovely park next to us, would definitely recommend and think of going back again

Although I have a few complaints, after we settled in we had a great time and a good stay at this property.

The camp site was clean and the on site restaurant was a nice place to have food and the staff were very friendly. The property we stayed in was very modern and very spacious, the 2 bedrooms were very nice and the beds were comfortable. Bathroom and kitchen were also great. The lounge area was also spacious with 2 lovely comfortable sofas. Unfortunately there were a few things that let it down. There was no mention that the swimming facilities were not free. Only free if you book through Hoseasons I was informed. This became quite an extra expense on top of the holiday price. There were lots of cobwebs in the corners of the property. There were human hairs on the dining table. There was an awful smell at times from the sink in the kitchen. The fridge didn’t have a frozen compartment (being self catering you would expect one) After we cleaned this property ourselves we had a great time. Lots of lovely walks and lots of things to do. I feel the above complaints are all things that can easily be rectified by yourselves for you to then receive perfect feedback by other's.

Had a great week comfortable double bed would come back.

Close to the Marsh walks we enjoyed the long walks around there

We found the property very comfortable and had a very enjoyable time.

There were two small items we would like to mention. The lack a a freezer section in the top of the fridge, this is a necessity in a self catering property, not everyone can afford to eat out every day and having to shop every day takes time out of your holiday. Also were were not able yo use our freezer bag as wew could not freeze the blocks. The second item was the fact that there were two wardrobes in the main bedroom and not one in the second bedroom. The storage cupboard in the second bedroom could have been in the other bedroom making room for a wardrobe. This is for the site, there were three washing machines in the laundry and no dryer. We were there for two weeks and blessed with hot weather but wet weather would have made it difficult to dry anything, especially families who may be there with young children. Overall it was a very nice holiday but these small things in self catering properties do help

Locating chalet from instructions was confusing.

Would of been nice if both hand soap & washing up liquid had been topped up.

Overall we had a great stay.

It should be noted that the on-site pool although “available to all” has an extra charge for some guests, including people staying at Marsh Bungalow. (Family of two adults and two children cost £19 and the pool is small and very tired looking). There is no mobile coverage for Giffgaff phones but the WIFI is sufficient for most needs. There is no freezer in the property which lets it down, not even a freezer box at the top of the fridge which we found surprising. Granted there is no mention of a freezer in the description but we wrongly assumed there would be a small box for ice at least in the fridge. All other facilities in the property however were well kept and clean. We ate at the on-site cafe/bar one evening and had an enjoyable evening. The food and staff were great. All together we would definitely stay again.

The property was lovely.

But the twin room (where I slept) had a very damp smell. It was very unpleasant, especially at night when sleeping. I had to keep my clothes in the living room so they did not pick up the smell. Also the advert said parking, but it was not clear that the parking was not outside the bungalow but a walk to a car park. This was sometimes difficult for my dad as he has limited mobility.

We loved the bungalow it is well looked after, The bed was comfortable, The bungalow has everything needed to cook, We had our breakfasts outside on the table every morning (it's a suntrap).

The only issue which wasn't a problem for me but my partner would have liked to have had a hand rail in the shower. It was a pleasure to stay in the bungalow, We both said we would go back to the bungalow on future holidays.

An enjoyable week away.

Cottage was lovely - very comfortable and clean with everything we needed. Situated on a small and very peaceful park within easy access of many amenities and places to visit. Our second Sykes holiday and to the same high standard as the first - we will be back.

Bungalow was clean and comfortable, it is sited in a good location for visiting Suffolk and into Norfolk with good walks nearby. Lovely surprise on arrival to see Wi-Fi now installed and free, a really good addition. We all agreed we would like to return at a future date. Thank you

Very enjoyable stay

When we arrived at Marsh Bungalow the first thing we noticed from the outside was that there was no decked area.

This was contrary to the description given on the details. However the Bungalow was clean so this, although disappointing was not going to affect our holiday too much. The bed was really comfortable and the bedding had a lovely fresh smell but pet owners beware. We have a young dog who is well behaved but unfortunately he got onto the bed unnoticed by us and left behind some dirty marks. I was devastated and embarrassed by this and more than happy to pay for replacement bedding, however, I have been charged for two bed sets at £49.99 each. Upon asking the owners why they needed to buy two when only one was soiled, I have not had a satisfactory answer. This Bungalow should not be advertised as pet friendly, particularly as the bedding is white. I know my dog should not have been on the furniture but unfortunately as most dog owners will admit, these things happen. This is definitely not pet friendly.

The property was spacious, clean & very comfortable.

The facilities were ample. It was nice to sit outside having a coffee. We loved the proximity to the Broads, marina & park. Great for dog walking.

This property was spotlessly clean and the walk in shower excellent for my disabled husband.

A grab rail fitted to the inside of the shower would be a good addition. All the appliances, crockery and utensils were of a very high standard and helpful information on their use provided. Our only disappointment was the poor quality of the double bed linen. It looked very colour coordinated but being 100% polyester with no cotton content at all, meant with the hot weather we had, that sleeping was very uncomfortable. I think with the high standard the owners are trying to achieve at Marsh bungalow, it was disappointing not to have good quality bedding and is perhaps something that could easily be rectified. In every other way the property, location and our stay was excellent.

No broad band available if I had known this before hand I would not have booked this holiday with Sykes

It was immaculately clean, great facilities and brilliant location. Had the best night sleep, the beds were so comfortable!
