A wonderfully cosy cottage in a peaceful location, well situated for lots of lovely walks.

A pleasant, well equipped cottage, ideal for exploring the area.

Ixworth has all the amenities you would want or need, two public houses, convenience store, fish and chip shop and Chinese takeaway. A friendly village with numerous walks.

This was a real home from home.

We stay in a lot of holiday accommodation and we can rarely remember anywhere which felt so comfortable and put us at ease. The property was very well equipped. This encouraged us to cook dinners at home more often than we usually do when away. My wife loved the bedlinen and I really enjoyed the excellent radio to listen to the cricket on the welcome pack of mince pies and cider was also a nice touch. The village itself is really picturesque and has lots of useful facilities, including two pubs which we visited and were warmly received in. there is also a general store, a Chinese takeaway and a fish and chip shop within a five minute walk thank you for making our first visit to Suffolk so memorable.

We had a lovely stay thank you, and appreciated it being very dog friendly.

The outside rubbish bin which got emptied on our last morning was full when we arrived and very smelly. It may have been something to do with the hot weather, or perhaps the rubbish had been hanging around for more than a week, I don't know.

This is a lovely comfortable cottage, in a lovely village which is well equipped with everything you need.

The host was amazing while we were there and went the exa mile when my husband left clothes behind. I would happily go back to May Barn

We have to say that May Barn was absolutely perfect for our holiday, with family in or local to Ixworth it couldn't have been a better location.

The property was clean and tidy, the bed is firm but comfortable especially after a long journey. Ample storage upstairs and downstairs, wow what a bath, so nice to relax in after a busy day. The kitchen is compact but everything you need is there, though with the very warm weather we didn't worry about cooking. We only struggled with one thing and that was opening the gate to the garden, the catch was not wanting to let us in easily but we got there in the end. Overall, this was a perfect place to stay, and we will happily book again as it's so quiet, even though you're beside the road. Beautiful walks into the countryside and all you need in the village. We highly recommend May Barn, thanks so much.

May Barn was a perfect place to stay.

We found it to be truly pet friendly with a convenient enclosed outdoor space to sit and relax. The interior was very clean and well presented with thoughtful touches such as a bottle of wine and nibbles as a greeting gift on arrival , as well as dog biscuits! The kitchen as well equipped and the cooker worked efficiently. Ixworth has some ideal dog walking areas within a few hundred yards of the property. There is a pub and a small take away food store within a stone's throw, although it is quiet and peaceful. The village is very friendly with a community buzz and a small convenience store on the High Street. We would highly recommend.

Lovely quiet place to stay.

Warm and cosy. Under floor heating - lovely for barefoot in the morning. No off road parking, however was able to park wiring 10 yards every day.

The location is excellent to visit all parts of East Anglia easily by car and a short drive from Bury St Edmunds or Diss railway stations which have frequent train services.

The accommodation is very good and interesting; the road is nice and quiet with a great takeaway a short walk away! A very enjoyable place to stay - thank you. The only thing I would comment on is that it was a bit difficult to have a shower without a shower curtain, as others have commented in the visitors' book, this would be a very welcome addition.

We really enjoyed our stay again, such a lovely property, clean and tidy and so nice that the owners live nearby if there are any problems.

Thank you also for the wine, biscuits and dog treats too. We will probably come and stay again as it is such a great place for exploring both Norfolk and Suffolk.

June 7th-14th 2024 May Barn is an absolutely beautiful, well equipped, clean, cozy cottage in Ixmouth quiet, friendly village.

Loved the captivating pieces of art work strategically placed throughout the cottage. We found the bed/linen/towels luscious and comfortable. Overall, we felt relaxed and rejuvenated after a good night sleep.Thank you ever so much for our generous welcome packs (choc biscuits and wine). Our dogs also loved their dog biscuits and use of the towels etc. There are no shortages of open spaces for long/short walks locally or further out ie walks along Great Yarmouth sandy beach. Our two dogs were in their element. Despite the weather, we enjoyed exploring Suffolk scenic countryside, historic heritage, castle and cathedral. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your lovely cottage. We would not hesitate to recommend to others.

Super stay in a lovely cottage.

We used the cottage as a base to sleep as we were visiting family over Christmas.

There were some lovely touches such as the welcome gifts and the doggie welfare pack. However, we did have a few niggles. We felt that the bathroom was impractical. My mum was unable to get in / out of the bath. I struggled to shower using the hand held shower head and no shower curtain. Its inevitable that the floor gets wet. The large cracks in the floor tiles are off putting too. There is very little storage in the bathroom. I imagine it was presumed that a couple were using the cottage as towels were left in the main bedroom only. I hope my single bedroom had been cleaned but it had lots of cobwebs on the fitted wardrobes and the carpet looked grubby and had black dog hair on it. I did notice a paw print on the duvet cover too but presumed the bedding had been washed! Mum found a pair of socks from a previous guest under her chair in the main bedroom which you would imagine would have been found whilst vacuuming? My mum found the upstairs of the cottage very cold at night. The cottage is difficult with a dog. Luckily I brought throws for the white sofa! You can't just open the door and let the dog out due to it opening up on a shared driveway with a large metal gate onto the road. So, I had to take my dog out on a lead and lead him through a gate into the garden area incase the gate hadn't been closed properly. It's also hard to keep a dog downstairs when there is no door / gate to the stairs. The cottage was satisfactory for our needs over Christmas but we would have struggled if we were not spending most of our time with family.

Generally a clean and comfortable home.

A few moans which my cousin has made a note of in the comments book at the house : Bathroom The bath is deep and awkward to get out off and old people might struggle to lift themselves up from it. Also in my bathroom at home I have a toilet brush which I use solely for cleaning the bath ; that might be helpful. The kitchen. Could do with some washing up implements eg. pan brush, sponges, maybe one more tea towel. We had to buy some sponges. A glass jug suitable for putting in the microwave to cook sauces, soup etc. would be useful. . Apart from those suggestions good place to stay and would stay there again.

We very much enjoyed our week at May Barn, Ixworth.

It coincided with a September heatwave! The cottage had all the facilities advertised and there was a very comprehensive dossier of practical information which we found useful. The welcoming wine and biscuits were much appreciated! The property was in very nice clean condition and we had a very comfortable stay. Ixworth is a pleasant village, usefully situated for outings to Bury, Stowmarket, Thetford, Ely, etc. We would certainly recommend May Barn to other holiday-makers - and may even return ourselves! A lovely place to stay.

We really enjoyed the area and the places to walk the dogs. Everything we needed was provided by the host as well as extras. This was a lovely place to stay.

Lovely accommodation in a charming village.

Great welcome at the Greyhound pub. I'm 6'5" tall and unwittingly cracked my head on the beam over the door from the kitchen to the living room. I did this twice more despite hanging a cloth from the beam as a warning. Maybe a warning in the advert and definitely one in the house. The big single chair has a large dip which we filled with cushions, but not comfortable. Very hard and low settee. Despite this, I would recommend it as the bed was comfortable and the rest of the rooms were of a high standard.

We had a fabulous week in the wonderful May Barn.

It was so clean and so very comfortable. It had everything that you would want for the perfect self catering break. It is tastefully furnished & decorated. The village of Ixworth is delightful with two pubs that cook wonderful food at very reasonable prices. This is a true piece of heaven !! The owners who live next door are so friendly and so helpful that it makes your visit complete.

Amazing property - so well placed just off the main village road, good location to get to local amenities, restaurants & pubs.

Beautifully decorated and furnished property. Everything you need when away from home was there. Would definitely recommend to everyone and hope to return again.

Well equipped kitchen. The only thing we would have liked would have been a shower. Great location to travel to other places, we went to Thetford, Bury St Edmonds and the local vineyard. We also enjoyed the walks around the village. Thank you

A delightful, cosy, cottage.

Very well equipped. Ixworth is a friendly village and both pubs welcoming and serve good food. Kelly is an excellent host and immediately attentive to any problems. (Not that there were many. Just a temperamental toaster!). This is a lovely part of the Country and I am sure we will return. Will also recommend to friends & family. Thank you.

We have had a lovely weekend at May Barn.

Our daughter lives in the next village and we have stayed in many places and this cottage has been the absolute best and we hope to be able to return. We managed a family meal and everything we needed was available in the kitchen. We even managed to bake with my granddaughter. Many thanks for the lovely welcome gifts. 5 star.
