“We love staying at Feathers , we’ve been twice and going again in September .”

It suits are needs so well, accommodating the two dogs in our company , lots of room for them to spread out , especially in the spacious hallway. It’s very comfy , warm if you need to pop the heating on , lots of hot water and endless amounts of useful things in the kitchen. We also like the swimming pool , a nice treat at the end of the day . There is a lovely atmosphere around the complex and everyone is so friendly. We thoroughly recommend a stay at Feathers

“Feathers is a very clean, comfortable and well-equipped property in beautiful surroundings.”

Ideal for our little family ageing from 8-80, with games and books for all ages on cooler days. We had hot weather all week and struggled to open the bedroom windows. We were unable to contact anyone when there was no hot water (it was after 5pm) one day, but my daughter U-tubed the problem and thankfully sorted it. A dustpan and brush would also have been useful - small problems and we had a great time.

“An absolutely beautiful apartment.”

It was clean, comfortable and everything inside was “ high spec”. The welcome pack was very gratefully received, and we wanted for nothing. The grounds of the complex was beautifully landscaped and was very quiet. It was a joy to return to after a day exploring Suffolk, and we would definitely recommend.

“Beautiful apartment, in lovely grounds.”

Peaceful location but town centre just 10 minutes by car as well as a few pubs within similar distance where we had some great meals. Games room and large pool were a great bonus, would definitely book again.

“Property was lovely.”

It would have been nice to see basics such as cooking oil left in the property as it’s self catering. It was great that there was a high chair in the property. This would have been helpful if it was confirmed in the listing so I didn’t need to bring my own. (From memory, the listing stated there could be travel cot if requested in advance). Swimming pool/games room on site were great. We had a lovely stay.

“Lovely 3 bed ground floor apartment - stayed there with 6 adults, a six month old baby and two dogs and didn't feel cramped.”

Set just outside of Southwold just off the A12 the location was excellent for us. Would definitely return to this property.

“Property and surroundings were beautiful, very well equipped and good quality bedding.”

The shower in the en-suite was the best I’ve used. The only downside to our stay was trying to access the swimming pool. Even though we tried 7days before departure, we were only able get two slots, one of which two adults and a child came in. We booked the feathers for the pool as we had our young grandson with and thought we would be able to take him swimming daily. Not so. Luckily we had fantastic weather

“Well located & well equipped.”

We loved exploring the coast. We also enjoyed the on site swimming pool and the games room (although the latter could do with an upgrade and some new equipment such as ping pong balls and pool cues). Lack of space to eat outside was a shame in the good weather.

“Beautiful property with amazing facilities - it has everything we needed for a wonderful stay.”

Love the Blythview complex and the wonderful meadow and the pool and gym facilities also. Feathers was clean and comfortable (specially the beds) and the kitchen has everything you need to cook and eat on the premises. We came with a four year old so did eat in most nights. No complaints at all about the property. Nice little table and chairs for sitting out also.

“We've visited the property a couple of years in a row now.”

And we may leave it a little while before we visit again primarily for reasons in regards to facilities and maintenance. Please do not get us wrong. The majority of the property is in good nick. But there are a few things that could be improved. For instance, the washing machine either needs maintenance or replacing. The drum is loose and bangs against its chassis making it sound like something is banging a door loudly disturbing us and possibly the nice lady with the cats upstairs. The dishwasher fuse spur is faulty. It makes an intermittent buzzing noise which is a little disconcerting and could be an electrical hazard. You need to give it a little tap to ensure the connection works otherwise the dishwasher doesn't turn on. I think I remembered this from our previous stay as it took a while to work out why it wasn't working. Also quite a few light bulbs weren't working, including the one in the cooker hood that I think has been that way in both our stays. So likely broken for more than a year. I know this feels like splitting hairs, but it's the little things that add up and make a place feel looked after and special. Especially when you are paying a fair amount to stay there. Just a few things like the Jenga tower in the cupboard with the taped up bag could be put in something that looks a little less sad, and a bit more loved. The door's knocker and letterbox have seen better days. From some of the feedback left in the guest book about how much hasn't changed and that aspects of the property could do with a little TLC, we agree with this and things like the aforementioned. Would we stay here again in future? Absolutely. The above is by no means a deal breaker. The property has a very calm feeling about it that we can't explain. Whatever happened when the whole property was a hospital must have been good. The beds are very comfortable. It's very clean and the instructions clear in regards to monitoring our energy use.

“It is an absolutely glorious place to stay and we all loved it!”

High ceilings, lovely views, the property is immaculate, yet super comfortable and makes you feel at home. Spacious; none of the rooms make you shimmy between dresser and bed etc! Beds are nice and big, the living area is huge and the table is a great size - it took a jigsaw puzzle at one end and 5 people eating around the table with no issues. The onsite facilities are great - the pool was lovely as was the games room. We put a reserve in for the swimming pool and got a better time; the original times available were at 8pm or 9pm at night. I read the review from Dec23, but everything is rectified from that visit - bowls aplenty. My only comment would be when communicating with holiday makers beforehand, it might be worth adding instructions on turning left and going all the way around the back of the building to park, as it did take us a while to find the spot specific to the apartment.

“Listing is not clear about exact parking location and sign for 43 was not there when we arrived which caused delay and frustration.”

Map of complex has apparently disappeared from the flat but has not been replaced, so finding the swimming pool on a winter's evening was challenging! Flat (toilet) not properly cleaned on arrival. Heating difficult to control on low, so we had to turn it off completely to stop the flat becoming too hot. Some of the utensils are heavily damaged and should not still be in the drawer. Oven/grill instructions missing and it is quite an unusual appliance so we gave up after 2-3 days of trying to work it out ourselves. Based on this, the property rating of 5 stars is a real stretch although it has potential to be worthy if greater attention was given to details (which make all the difference).

“LoveLy property in great location.”

We would definitely come back. Great to have swimming pool and games room on site and plenty of space for kids and dog to get outside. Welcoming and helpful neighbours. Property would benefit from more crockery as there was only 1 bowl each so we had to wash up a lot and also a stale Smokey smell when we arrived which was unpleasant. The ikea mattress in the main bedroom had been flipped onto the side you can’t sleep on and was too soft but when we realised this it was easily sorted. Would be nice to have some extra towels and bin bags too for a week long stay. Also another set of keys would be good as there was only one set of front door keys. These are minor points which are easily rectified as overall it’s a lovely place to stay and I would recommend. We hope to return.

“We thoroughly enjoyed our four days at Feathers, it was comfortable, spacious and well equipped.”

The Blythview site was quiet and well maintained and we were well placed for visiting Southwold, RSPB Minsmere and many other places. Our daughter, son in law and their 3 month baby joined us for one day and night and our grandson had his first experience of a swim in the leisure pool. Overall a very nice break.

“We had an enjoyable stay in a very nice well appointed and well equipped property and would visit again.”

Visitors with dogs should be aware that there is no enclosed garden space at this property and with strict rules regarding keeping dogs on leads at all times when outside, it is slightly annoying that whenever your dog needs to go outside, you need to accompany him/her rather than simply being able to let it out by itself.

“The property is in a great location for many gorgeous beaches, well known landmarks and some fabulous concert venues.”

The actual property is five stars - a good layout, well equipped with everything you need for a good holiday. The surroundings and countryside vista are stunning. The pool and gym are a nice added extra. We also found the neighbours very friendly and informative of local history, farm shops and places to eat. I would highly recommend The Feathers and we would love to visit again.

“We booked four nights at The Feathers and were very happy.”

It is nicer than the pictures. The apartment is spacious , plenty of storage, comfortable, warm, plenty of hot water and nice showers, just watch your delicate bits on the ensuite radiator as you get out of the shower. It had everything we needed. The dining table is nice and long and perfect for evening supper after a long day exploring. We were four adults and one child, but it is big enough for 6 adults. It is in a good location, but you definitely need a car. You can walk to the local pub, The White Hart, but it is a bit of an adventure across the footpaths and took us about 40 minutes and it was light. We also left our car in The White Hart carpark and walked to Southwold, it is a good walk. There is a bus that you can get back from Southwold to Blythburgh and it doesn't take long. Check the bus times before you go, I think the bus number was 99A. The Feathers is very good value for what you are getting and is definitely one of the best apartments I have stayed in. I would highly recommend and would stay there again.

Southwold 1 mile.

Southwold is a seaside town situated along the East Suffolk coast within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and resting between Lowestoft and Ipswich. Southwold is known as the home of Adnams Brewery which was established in the town in 1872 and it also has its own lighthouse, a museum and a picturesque pier which has a selection of colourful beach huts and which plays host to the regular Southwold Model Yacht regatta. The town boasts a number of excellent restaurants and eateries with a particular nod to its seaside location so there is always plenty of seafood and fish on the menu. Southwold has some fantastic independent shops, boutiques, galleries and pubs which are great for a browse and to stock up on essentials for your holiday. Just outside Southwold there are a number of great attractions for the whole family including Africa Alive Zoological Reserve, RSPB Minsmere and Dunwich Museum as well as scenic towns such as Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Leiston and Lowestoft to visit.
