Cragside, Aldeburgh

Our sixth stay at Cragside, it’s perfect for us.

It has everything needed for a luxurious, relaxing break. We love the stylish interior and the location is ideal - a stones throw from the sea and an easy walk along Aldeburgh High Street. We will be back.

On the whole a wonderful little place to stay for a few days or perhaps longer.

The location is superb with just a few strides until you are on the seafront. The decor is quirky and modern and the facilities in the kitchen and the bathroom are great. The bed is comfy, lighting is good, heating is effective and easy to operate, information supplied is helpful. Shower is lovely and powerful and hot on demand. Likewise the bath. I guess the challenge comes as to whether this is truly a five star property as there are a number of areas for improvement. The sofa is tired and needs replacing. The TV position is truly awful. The WiFi strength is fine day to day but it limits channel selection on the TV. Clothes hanging space is limited - fine for a weekend, not so much for a week. Depends what you wear I guess. The front door and windows were filthy on the outside and lock can tricky to use - not a great first impression but you live in the inside not outside. The property is lovely and clean inside which is what counts. No outside space and no parking - both are known when you book the property. We stayed mid May at the weekend and didn’t have an issue with parking - lots available within 200m. The property is underneath a much bigger building and so limited natural light in some rooms. It’s a solid 4* property for sure.

Only 20 steps to the beach, and 2 minutes walk to the village centre, a perfect location .

Kids loved the alcove in the second bedroom. Only downside for us is it felt a bit damp and as you get with such properties, the odd silverfish. Would not stop us staying again though.

Interior done to the highest standard, beautifully designed with no expense spared to make it picture perfect inside. Very comfortable with everything you could ever need for your stay. We loved it!

Lovely, stylish apartment in the perfect location.

'Cragside' is a lovely seaside property; it's very well equipped and furnished and the location is superb.

Being able to walk just a few paces and then be right by the sea was a joy. There was a minor problem with lights, which the owner was aware of and quickly arranged for an electrician to come round, which was great. All in all, we had a very nice two week stay over Christmas and New Year.

From the first minute we felt comfortable and perhaps even better we felt at home.

Seaside was so well equipped we wanted for nothing. The bed was so comfortable we enjoyed long restful sleeps ensuring our stay was a true holiday.

We had a delightful stay in Cragside and would be happy to return and stay there again.

It is very comfortable for two people and in a prime location in the town and very close to the sea. The lack of private parking was not an issue for us in October, as we always found public parking on the street, either across the road, or on the seafront a minute's walk round a corner. It might be more difficult in high season. Only one slight annoyance. The freezer is hidden away in the bottom of a cupboard and not surprisingly has a stiff door, so we were concerned about opening it not knowing what it was. Not a problem once we eventually were told it is a freezer, but it would be good to mention it in the instructions. We would prefer to deal with a local office, not a problem during our stay, but there didn't appear to be an out of hours emergency number. We did wonder how quickly there would have been someone on site in an emergency. Overall a lovely stay.

We needed ground floor accommodation for elderly parents.

Cragside fitted the bill perfectly, beautiful, clean, and excellent location. We would have liked a little outdoor area to sit but understand why that wasn’t possible. Great use of space though!

Beautifully appointed luxurious holiday apartment.

Top quality furniture, fixtures & fittings. Very comfortable. Spotlessly clean and very well maintained. We stayed here the late May 2024, but even though it was a bank holiday weekend, found no issues with parking. Free roadside parking opposite. Also very close by, 6pm-8am with 2 free hours parking allowed. So you could park for free 4pm one day, to 11am following day. Plus which, the paying car park is also near. The apartment is ground floor/basement level (on a slight hill), so is a little dark in some rooms at some points in the day. However, the lighting is really well positioned to so it never felt an issue. It is really well located at one end of the High Street and steps away from the beach. Be aware that there is no outside space, but this was no issue for us. A truly practical, but exceptionally beautiful space. We would highly recommend this stunning apartment & would definitely stop there again.

We adored Cragside.

The apartment was clean, warm and stylish. Parking was straightforward on the road outside. Aldeburgh is charming. We enjoyed local walks, seal spotting near the Martello Tower, and fish and chips from round the corner. Would completely recommend a short break here. We look forward to returning.

The apartment was damp.

It was basically a basement flat. We informed you of this on the second day of our stay. Your response was 'we are only the agents.' Not good enough!

We enjoyed our stay at Cragside and appreciated the welcome pack.

The flat was well equipped and the décor unusual and imaginative. The online photos of the property are slightly misleading as the property was quite dark internally. The location is great and the parking not too much of a problem. We would certainly consider a return visit.

The property is in an amazing location steps from the beach.

It was perfect for my daughter & I and we loved the decor and the house was equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. My daughter loved the reading nook in her bedroom!

Our third stay in this very stylish apartment.

Great location between the sea and the high street, well equipped and comfortable. It was perfect for us.

The apartment was perfect until you had people move into the properties above.

The general noise of people walking around is tolerable, but music being played late at night was rather intrusive and affected my sleep on a number of occasions. I wont return to Cragside for this reason.

Cragside was an absolute delight!

So tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. We spent a lovely week here and are already looking to book again next year.

A comfy flat with everything you need, Love being 1 minute from the beach, sunrise and seals were highlights, would recommend.

We have had a lovely restful stay at Cragside.

The beautiful interiors we just as we had seen online and every comfort catered for. Had a lovely Sunday lunch at The Dolphin in Thorpeness and we would recommend this, Two Magpies pastries and cakes great as usual. It's been around 5 years since we've been to Aldeburgh nothing much has changed much to out delight. Many thanks for a fab holiday.

Lovely place to stay enjoyed cozy movie nights and our child loved the reading nook in her bedroom!

Had a great many things to do in Aldeburgh and enjoyed a pleasant walk to the shell and lunch out in the lighthouse! Will hopefully come back soon.
