“The main problem I experienced was that I was unable to open the windows.”

As I was staying during a heatwave, this was unacceptable. The bed and the duvet are not very comfortable. The position is good and the downstairs accommodation is very pleasant.

We are sorry to read you had a less than perfect stay. In a record breaking heatwave, even with all these access points open, the accommodation would remain warm if there were no breeze. In other seasons this heat retention is what makes the cottage so nice and snug. Many windows on both floors do open. The lifting type windows upstairs do all open, and are of an older design in which they 'jam' in the frames when open (rather than having a sash). This info can be added to the house details if it's not clear. Downstairs one of two the main sitting room windows opens (lifts) and the the 'stable door' style front door can have the top half open on it own (to allow fresh air in but keeping a dog of child inside) or be opened fully. In the kitchen is the back door opening onto a private alleyway and two lifting / opening ceiling domes which can be wound open to provide light and air. I hope you were able to take advantage of the close proximity to the beach and high street (ice cream shop , chip shops and all the other retail, art and restaurant outlets) and the walks by the riverside or beach. “Loved our stay at the property.”

Excellent location in the town and close to everything. Our Whippet loved it too and thanks very much for the welcome pack of goodies. Only minor feedback would be that it would be nice to have shower gel or shampoo provided in the bathroom. We hope to return soon!

“We had a lovely stay at Alinka.”

It’s a perfect location for the beach and the high street. The bed is very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we could need. The only slight downside were the bins from the restaurant next door were slightly smelly and didn’t create the best first impression. Appreciate this can’t be changed but it does impact the experience of the visit. Overall, the little cottage was great for our short stay.

We are of course not pleased to read of the issue with neighbouring restaurant bins. We have been in touch with the Restaurant Group, Regional and onsite management teams regarding this issue and they have assured us they are working hard to resolve the situation, not least by arranging for more frequent bin collections, but also staff training regarding the handling of waste and ensure the bins are closed completely. Thank you for your kind feed back. The interior of the property was given a repaint in January with the kitchen and sitting room and stairwell all getting a freshen up. We are in the envious situation that available time between guest is limited all year, however we took this note to heart and closed up for two weeks to get the cottage back to a tip top condition. One option which we use ourselves, is to travel with an HDMI cable. This allows a Lap top or similar to be used in connection with the Wifi-Internet to watch online content and feed it to the big screen. “A charming cute comfortable cottage in excellent location for access to beach, shops, restaurants and walks.”

We had fantastic few days with great weather so no need to venture too far! Cottage very well equipped and decorated. Would highly recommend for short stay although the daybed in second bedroom fine for a younger child but not quite so comfy for adults!

Thank you for your kind comments. We are pleased when the cottage is used by three adult guests as it provides a great value for money proposition in the location. However, it was set up as a 'sleeps 2 (double) plus 1 (for baby or child). A full size bed in the smaller room would make it a very cramped space. We will continue to review the options as new furniture designs come onto the market and keep an open mind with regard to making a change. Once again thank you for your kind comments and feed back. “A beautiful cottage that was clean and very close to the beach and high street.”

We did very much enjoy our stay. The only downside was the house is nestled between Prezzo and a local bar & resturant. Generally it’s fine but some nights there was a lot of noise coming from the Prezzo staff on cigarette breaks, which was quite disruptive. Otherwise, a very lovely house and the owners were accommodating and let us arrive a few hours early.

Being located in the middle of town and near the facilities and beach does come with the issue of potential noise from visitors, but this should not come from the restaurants, especially not late at night. “A wonderful and charming cottage in the heart of Aldeburgh, so close to the sea.”

All the amenities you need and more. We had a fab time, and our dog Charlie also had the best time, entrance via a back gate makes it easy to clean off paws before entering the house. Would highly recommend. Note stairs are typical of older cottages so small and tight and steep, so take care going up and down.

The cottage is very quaint and cosy, with the beach a short walk from the doorstep, the town of Aldeburgh has a host of interesting shops and wonderful fish and chips to take away and eat by the sea shore. We loved everything about our short break and we would definately return in the future.

Thank you for your feedback. I was very sorry to read of the appearance at the front. I have been in direct touch with Prezzo regional management, the restaurant next door, to call them out on the bins and cigarette ends. They advise that they have been working extra hard to keep the location tidy but I am not sure the head office message is reaching the local management team! The property

You’re welcomed into bright new kitchen/breakfast room leading through to the lovely living room at the front of the cottage and stairs to the first floor. The large master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with separate shower and there’s an additional room, ideal for a child with comfortable day bed, or for your own use as a dressing/reading room. The name Alinka originates from a 36ft yacht that the owners sailed over many seasons and a pair of Oars used in the tender can be seen in the living room as a fond keepsake, along with some artwork created by the talented owner. This mid terraced cottage was built around 1900 and extended after the second world war to add the luxury of an internal bathroom! There's some unrestricted parking close to the cottage and a public car park almost opposite. Ground Floor A stable door opens directly into the carpeted living room with a back door opening into the kitchen/breakfast room. Wooden stairs to the first floor are accessed through a door in the living room. Kitchen/Dining Room A warm welcome awaits you as you enter this sunny kitchen with sky lights allowing the daylight to flood in. The kitchen’s equipped with an electric oven, gas hob and extractor, slimline dishwasher and a fridge with two shelf freezer and a microwave tucked neatly into an alcove. Step up to the breakfast area, furnished with a table and four chairs. Living Room This bright room is decorated in a palette of relaxing colours with coastal theme. A two seater sofa and comfy arm chair encourage you to sit back and enjoy a good book, and there’s a good mix of tables and dresser for the TV. First floor A door in the living room opens directly onto the steep stairs rising to the master bedroom with bathroom beyond and dressing room to the left. The entire first floor has wooden floors. Master Bedroom The king size bed takes pride of place under the sash window with bedside stools and a dressing table with stool which can double up as a desk if needs be. Small Single Cleverly furnished to accommodate your needs; either as a single bedroom with comfortable day bed which will be made up for you if required, or simply as a dressing room with hanging space and shelves. Bathroom Effectively an ensuite off the master bedroom, with bath, corner shower cubicle, wash basin set in a vanity unit, WC, heated towel rail and natural light. Outside Alinka sits on King Street, just one street back from the seafront and conveniently close to a public car park where you can park for the entire stay by purchasing a long stay pass. The front door opens directly onto the street and there’s a side gate leading down a path to the kitchen door giving convenient access for buggies etc.

The popular, vibrant seaside town of Aldeburgh is famous for its culture, traditional feel and one of the best fish and chip shops in the country! Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings are home to one of the world’s greatest music festivals and has been named as one of the top 50 places to live in Britain. Crag Path runs along the seafront dividing the beautiful pebbly beach from the unspoilt pastel-coloured seafront properties and the town. The beach is a popular place for groups and couples to enjoy the wonderful fish and chips throughout the summer months. The town is steeped in history and has become a wonderful town for shopping with a good mixture of independent and chain stores to enjoy. The town also offers a good selection of pubs and restaurants or why not buy some freshly caught fish from the huts on the seafront and cook up your own feast at home. For those wishing for a more action-packed holiday there is excellent walking, cycling, sailing and golf at Aldeburgh. Growing in popularity you will want to return to Aldeburgh again and again!
