The property

Sitting in a prominent position in Framlingham is Holly Cottage, a quaint 19th century traditional flint cottage offering a welcoming base for a romantic getaway for two, or a small family adventure in an exciting corner of Suffolk. Be charmed by this delightful cottage, finding a private courtyard to the rear with your own seating area for you and your loved one to enjoy an evening tipple as you catch-up on the day's events. The courtyard, front garden and grassed side garden areas are all fully enclosed and ideal for the holidaying family pet. Cook up a storm in the amply-equipped kitchen, fitted with all the necessary amenities for all your culinary needs. Resting behind is a lovely bathroom with a shower where a warm rinse welcomes you after a long day in the countryside. You can look forward to cosying up in the living/dining room, featuring plush seating in front of a large TV, and a drop leaf dining table resting behind where you can settle down for dinner and toast to a wonderful holiday. Two stunning bedrooms; comprising a double room and single room, are ideal for couples or a small family. Conveniently placed in the bustling market town of Framlingham, this lovely cottage is just a gentle saunter over to a wealth of vibrant amenities; take a wander around the local, independent shops where you can pick up a souvenir of your holiday, before heading over to one of the local pubs or restaurants for a delicious meal. Soak up the local surroundings as you explore attractions in the area. The ancient Framlingham Castle, dating back to the 1100s with its stunning Mere and nature reserve is only a short stroll from Holly Cottage. Saxmundham is another market town just a short trip away, with even more shopping choices, as well as a train station with links to Lowestoft and Ipswich. Enjoy a unique experience at Snape Maltings; a quirky arts complex on the banks of the River Alde where you can watch a performance all year round, or be there to catch the annual Aldeburgh Festival. Adventure lovers will love the selection of adventurous walking trails around the area, choosing from coastal explorations near the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB, or rural nature at the Broads National Park. Days out can be spent at the vibrant city of Norwich, the historic town of Ipswich, or the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Holly Cottage is fortunate to have a central location in beautiful Framlingham, with easy walking access to the historic town centre. It does have a roadside location and some traffic noise is inevitable. The road can busy at times, especially at commuter times.

About the location

FRAMLINGHAM

Saxmundham 7.5 miles; Aldeburgh 14 miles; Southwold 20 miles

The beautiful market town of Framlingham is mentioned in the Domesday Book (1086) and has been known since Anglo Saxon times, when it consisted of several manors which William the Conqueror (1066-1087) presented to Roger Bigod. The town is of particular interest as it has a large castle and mere which was built between 1190 and 1210. The town is surrounded by lovely villages to explore and has two of the oldest working post boxes and one of Britain’s smallest houses, with the footprint measuring 6.1x2.2m! Today, the town offers a number of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants and it is also home to Framlingham Summer Arts Festival.
