King George Penthouse at Aldeburgh

You’re welcomed into a light and airy communal hall at King George House with stairs rising to the second floor where there’s a private porch leading to the penthouse hallway. Ideal for socialising with friends and family, the stunning open plan living space has a state of the kitchen, supremely comfortable sitting area, stylish dining area and wonderful south-facing balcony. There's an additional snug for some peace and quiet! All accommodation is beautifully furnished - two on the entry floor (one with en-suite shower room) and a large modern bathroom between them; the third bedroom (also with en-suite) is on the top floor with panoramic window looking down through the living room.

Secure residents' parking for one car is a great asset here, with additional unrestricted parking close by and a couple of supermarkets literally round the corner. There are two private balconies with outdoor furniture so you can enjoy meals or simply sit back with a good book whilst enjoying the views towards Orford Ness.

Communal Entrance
With a security intercom and staircase to the second floor where there’s a door to the private entrance lobby.

A glazed door opens from the landing into the porch, with coat hooks and blanket chest for storing your footwear, giving access to the front door of the penthouse.

Entrance Hall
With fitted carpet and high vaulted ceiling. A staircase leads to the first-floor landing and doors open to the living room/kitchen/dining room and two double bedrooms and the family bathroom. A console table houses a number of board games for your enjoyment.

Living Space
A fabulous open plan living space beneath a high vaulted ceiling with full height double glazed south-facing window and French doors that open out on to the south balcony, giving spectacular views over open pasture and the Aldeburgh marshes towards Orford Ness.

The kitchen area is beautifully appointed with Corian and glass worktops; it's well-equipped with built-in Neff appliances including an electric fan oven at waist height, combination microwave, large fridge, 2 drawer freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, water softener and Nespresso coffee machine with aeroccino. The four-ring induction hob is located in a central island with stainless steel extractor above; there's a breakfast bar with three stools making this the ideal spot to sit and chat with the chef! Double glazed French windows open out to the north balcony.

The living area is tastefully furnished with an enormous L shaped leather sofa plus matching footstool, coffee table, and armchair. Entertainment's provided with a 48" wall mounted flat screen Smart TV, Cambridge Audio Bluetooth speaker, and Wifi with BT Infinity broadband. Enjoy long leisurely meals at the long steel top table with eight dining chairs.

South Balcony
With steel and glass balustrades this sheltered balcony has vaulted ceiling and outdoor furniture so you can enjoy meals or simply sit back and make the most of the view.

Designed for those needing to do a spot of work, play or simply chill, with comfy sofa, handsome desk and chair for 'mature' guests; plus a bookcase with a selection of books, jigsaws and other toys to keep little guests amused and window giving views of the marshes.

Balcony Bedroom
A lovely light bedroom with French windows opening to the sunny private west facing balcony with a couple of rattan chairs and coffee table. The zip and link super king bed gives you the option of double or twin configuration and there are bedside drawers, lamps, a dressing table with mirror and stool, plus wardrobe with hanging and shelf space.

Family Bathroom
This luxurious bathroom with bath, wide shower cubicle, WC, vanity unit with washbasin, heated towel rail and Velux window giving natural light.

Double Bedroom
This charming double has a king-size bed, bedside units with lamps, a chest of drawers, a dressing table with stool plus a wardrobe with hanging and shelf space. An external door overlooks the north balcony with a roof top view beyond.

En Suite Shower Room
Very smart contemporary en suite comprising corner shower cubicle, vanity enclosed wash hand basin, WC and heated towel rail. A double glazed Velux window gives natural light.

Top Floor
Carpeted stairs rise to the landing with the door to the master bedroom.

Master Bedroom
Elegantly furnished with a French-style king-size bed with bedside drawers and lamps, dressing table with stool, porthole mirror, and a comfy chair. The walk-in dressing room has a hanging rail and a good-sized shelf. There's an archway leading to the en suite. There's an additional day bed in this room, which is designed as a sofa, however, can be split into two full-size single beds on request to accommodate young children.

One wall of windows overlooks the living space and through the gable window towards Orford Ness, to the north side, you can see the House in The Clouds at Thorpeness.

This modern en-suite has a corner shower cubicle, washbasin set into a vanity unit, WC and heated towel rail.

An allocated parking space for one car within a secure residents' car park is a great asset here, with additional unrestricted parking close by and a couple of supermarkets literally round the corner. There's an electric car charging port at the Co-op, just around the corner. It has 24 hour access and operates via the Plug-N-Go app or RFID card.

There are three balconies; one south-facing from the living room, perfect for meals or simply relaxing with a good book whilst enjoying the views towards Orford Ness; another west facing with seating through off the 'balcony' bedroom and a third small balcony off the kitchen.

All prices include 100% cotton bed linen, towels, heating and electricity, plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start. A travel cot and high chair are available from the property owners on request at the time of booking; please bring your own cot linen as this is not provided.

This self-catering penthouse apartment is equipped with gas-fired central heating. Appliances include a Neff electric fan oven at waist height, four-ring induction hob with stainless steel extractor above, combination microwave, large fridge, 2 drawer freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, water softener, Nespresso coffee machine with aeroccino (please bring your own pods).

King George Penthouse is perched above neighbouring apartments and a supermarket on the outskirts of Aldeburgh; a short walk from the vibrant High Street with art galleries, pubs and fine restaurants, independent shops and quaint cinema.

There is a golf club, and sailing clubs with wonderful walks along the Alde estuary and unspoilt shingle beach to the iconic village of Thorpeness or the Martello Tower and sailing clubs. Local attractions include the world famous Snape Maltings Concert Hall, and the nature reserves at North Warren, Minsmere and Havergate Island.

Only one well-behaved dog is welcome in the living area at King George Penthouse but not in the bedrooms. If you wish to bring a dog it must be mentioned at the time of booking on the booking form and is subject to our conditions of booking.

There is ONE allocated parking space for guests, please DO NOT double park or in any way obstruct the access to the bins or restrict access for other residents in King George House. There is additional parking, if needed, on the roadside nearby.

The apartment is on the second and third floor of King George House with no lift so may not be suitable for guests with a mobility problem. There are four neighbouring apartments and a supermarket which is on the ground floor at the front of the building. Sorry, no smoking or unaccompanied teenagers.

Once you have filled out the online booking form, you will be given the option to pay by credit or debit card, or by BACs transfer. A 25% deposit is requested at the time of your booking to secure your booking. The balance and a returnable good housekeeping deposit are due six weeks before your holiday commences.
