Until the early 20th century the village was a trading port, but today it is one of Suffolk’s top tourist attractions with picture postcard village green with tea rooms, restaurants and two public houses (The Anchor and The Bell), art gallery, original crafts and gift shops. The village is famous for its annual crabbing competition and guests will enjoy the stunning sandy beach and marshland.
Durdans is located just minutes from the harbour and a pretty walk over the Bailey a footbridge to the popular town of Southwold which boasts several excellent pubs and restaurants as well as a range of independent shops and galleries. Guests can walk along the tow path to the Harbour Inn, enjoying the view of the fishing boats and yachts along the way or, during the summer, be rowed across the estuary in the ferry boat . Fresh fish, purchased from the iconic black Walberswick fishermen’s huts are a must!
