Southwold Christmas Light Switch On

There’s nothing quite like being gathered around the Christmas trees in the Market Place in Southwold when the lights are switched on.  Accompanied by the traditional brass band, and welcomed by the town Mayor, before Father Christmas appears at the Town Hall balcony.  With the crowd signing carols, the countdown begins.  Father Christmas has the honour of the big ‘switch on’. Many head into The Swan for a mulled wine, or to Two Magpies bakery for a mince pie.
