At last the moment has arrived, on Friday, Best of Suffolk’s 1928 House finally emerged for a 12 month exacting renovation, returning this time-warp house to the condition it was in when first built. Subtly fitted with all modern conveniences, such as full central heating, new bathroom and wi-fi the house retains it’s original furniture, purchased in 1929 – we have the receipts!
The launch day was a great success, the Mayor of Aldeburgh arrived on a 1929 bus, and after a short speech declared the house open! Inside was a vintage themed tea party, thanks to Emma from Cragg Sister’s Tea Room and Emily from Kenton hall, for the 50 invited guests, many of whom were dressed in the period of the day, the atmosphere was completed by the tones of a wind-up gramophone and the hubbub of friends, neighbours re-acquainting themselves with a much loved Aldeburgh home, once again…
