Two steep staircases rise from doors on the first floor landing to the two bedrooms at the top of the house.
Set in the eaves of White House Farmhouse with beams aplenty! The stairs are steep and the opening to this carpeted room is quite narrow so not suitable for unaccompanied children or guests with a mobility problem. There’s a king size bed with bedside drawers, a chest of drawers, arm chair with footstool and window overlooking the drive.
Ideally positioned between the two bedrooms with a lock on each door for privacy, this lovely bathroom exudes character with its beautiful beams, feature brick wall and free standing roll top bath. It’s also got a walk in corner shower cubicle, WC, washbasin, chair and heated towel rail. Beware of the steps up from bedroom four and up again to bedroom five.
Also at the top of the house, accessed through a low doorframe and step up from the bathroom or through another door with second staircase down to the first floor. Again, this big bedroom is carpeted and has historic beams in the sloping ceiling and a window overlooking the fields. There are twin beds with bedside cabinets, a chest of drawers and chair.
This impressive holiday home sits in an extensive open garden, mainly laid to lawn and surrounded by farmland and paddocks where barn owls can frequently be seen flying over. A double wooden swing seat next to the large attractive pond is an idyllic spot n the summer for a quiet relaxing drink, a good book or spot of bird watching as a heron can often be seen fishing (the pond isn’t fenced in so please ensure that children are always supervised) . There’s a good sized patio with furniture where you can enjoy leisurely meals with a BBQ provided and a dog kennel for your four legged friend.
All prices include 100% cotton bed linen, towels, heating and electricity, plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.
This period detached self-catering farmhouse is equipped with oil fired central heating and appliances include a TV with Freeview, Wifi and ipod docking station. The kitchen is well equipped with an Aga plus an electric double oven with induction hob, a fridge with three drawer freezer beneath, electric oven and grill, electric hob with four rings, washing machine, dishwasher and a built in microwave at eye level.
A travel cot, high chair and stair gate are available from the property owners on request at the time of booking.
As you might expect in a period farmhouse, there are wonderfully wonky floors; (particularly upstairs), there are some low door frames; both staircases from the first to second floor are steep, turn and do not have railings;and the entrance to the king bedroom on the second floor is relatively tight so White House Farm is not ideal for guests with a mobility problem.
Please note that the pond at the front of the house is not fenced so children must be supervised at all times.
Strictly one (1) well behaved dog can be accommodated on request at the time of booking and is subject to our terms and conditions. Additional dogs may be considered at an additional charge of £50 per dog. The garden is fenced, however it’s not secure for dogs so you may want to bring a stake and rope to tether your dog and prevent it from running off.
