Mission Hall at Thorpeness

The arched front door opens into a hallway, with a king-size bedroom with en-suite shower off to the left and double doors opening to the main accommodation on the right. Doors then lead off to the family shower room, the third bedroom with super king bed, and the living/dining area. The kitchen and family bathroom open off the living/dining area with the stunning galleried sitting room with sea views, and further king bedroom above.

Hallway
The beautiful arched front door, located at the side of the house, opens into the entrance hall with a king-size bedroom on the left and doors to the right opening into the hub of the house.

Bedroom Two
A lovely spacious and bright room with windows facing south and west; this room has a king-size bed as well as a large wooden day bed which is ideal for a couple wanting some privacy; or provides accommodation for two children with the pull out bed underneath the day bed. The room has wooden floors with a large rug and high sloping ceilings. There is a small flat-screen TV, DVD player, hanging space, tallboy, cute armchair with a coffee table and a small dressing table with a mirror and chair.

En-Suite Shower Room
With natural daylight, a walk-in shower, WC, basin, and independently heated towel rail.

Living/Dining Room
This spacious double aspect room is full of character with unique arched windows facing both north and south; wood-burning stove for cosy evenings; galleried bedroom and sitting room above with wrought iron balustrades; attractive chandeliers from the sloping and beamed ceiling, and French windows opening onto the deck. The floor is wooden and there are padded fabric shutters on all of the windows. There is ample space for socialising with an eclectic mix of furniture including three large sofas, occasional tables scattered around, a lovely scrubbed pine table with seating for eight on a bench and assorted chairs, a well-stocked dresser and a beautiful grand piano for musical guests! There is a flat-screen TV with FreeSat channels, iPod docking station and a DVD player.

Kitchen - The traditional kitchen is well equipped with a double electric oven with five gas rings, a fridge with a small freezer above, dishwasher, and a washing machine. The window, overlooking the deck, allows Mums to keep an eye on the kids whilst washing up!

Family Bathroom
A luxury bathroom with heating under the marble floor; washbasin and large bath with central gold taps, WC, independently heated towel rail, mirrors and occasional table with glass top. A north facing window gives natural light.

Galleried Sitting Room
Carpeted stairs lead up to this wonderful galleried sitting room with glass doors opening to the wooden balcony with two chairs for you to relax in, enjoying the view of the dunes and sea beyond. This sitting area is the perfect place to relax with family and friends with a huge coffee table, large sofa, three comfy chairs, built in cupboards, ideal for storing games and providing additional shelf space. The original oak beams, sloping roof, and wrought iron balustrade add character to this comfortable room.

Bedroom One
Narrow carpeted stairs lead from the main living/dining area up to this beautiful galleried bedroom which is open to the living/dining room below. The bed reflects the character of the house and the balustrade, with a gothic feel gained from the wrought iron headboard and bedstead. A Velux window and little arched window give the bedroom natural light and there is an antique chest of drawers, stool, ample hanging space in built-in wardrobes as well as a little chair and table for morning coffee!

Bedroom Three
The door to this room is at the entrance to the living/dining room. With wooden floors, this room has a super-king zip and link bed which can be made into twins if preferred. There are bedside shelves with lamps, hanging space, little armchair, a tall boy, a full-length mirror, a small dressing shelf with a chair, and flat-screen TV. The west and south-facing windows make this a light room.

Family Shower Room
Again off the entrance to the living/dining room and conveniently opposite bedroom 3 on the ground floor, this is the perfect place when you come in from the beach! The floor is tiled and there is a central shower with curtain, WC, basin and heated towel rail.

Outside
The Mission Hall has a wooden fence surrounding it with a path around three sides and a gate opening onto a grassed area with ample space to park three cars. There are some shrubs and ornamental grasses.

An extensive deck with doors opening onto it from the main living area and the hallway is perfect for a family or large group of friends to congregate. The owners have catered for every eventuality with a table, six chairs and two portable BBQs making this the ideal place for alfresco dining; alternatively relax in the four loungers, three benches and two armchairs and enjoy the sounds of the sea.

There is a sandpit to keep the little ones happy and a path, through a gate, leading directly to the shingle beach. Little guests are asked to wear shoes on the deck to avoid splinters!

Whats Included?

All prices include 100% cotton bed linen, towels, heating and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.

This detached property is equipped with gas central heating and a wood-burning stove in the living/dining room. Appliances include a flat screen TV with integrated FreeSat, DVD player, iPod docking station, built-in gas hob with electric oven, dishwasher, tall fridge with small freezer above, washing machine, and a microwave.

A travel cot, high chair and stair gates are available from the property owners on request at the time of booking.

Thorpeness is a mile along the beach from Aldeburgh and there is a coastal footpath between the two. Thorpeness is unique, designed and built as a holiday village by the Scottish playwright and barrister Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie a century ago, inspired by the writings of J M Barrie, author of Peter Pan.

There is a challenging golf course and active country club, several places to eat including the Dolphin Inn, The Kitchen and the Meare Tearoom.

The Mission Hall is in an ideal location to explore the Suffolk heritage coast with Aldeburgh, Snape with the renowned Maltings, Minsmere, Orford and Southwold all close by.

The Mission Hall has a unique style (as shown in our photo gallery) gained from it's history as the original meeting place for the local fishermen. It has been beautifully restored, retaining it's individual character, and well equipped with an eclectic mix of furniture.

Sorry no smoking, or unaccompanied teenagers permitted on this property. Please supervise children on the galleried bedroom and sitting room, as well as on the outside deck.

A well-behaved dog is welcome by prior arrangement downstairs only please.
