THE CROSS WING
"The Cross Wing really has been given the ‘wow factor’. Beautifully restored and laid out in a way to make the most of the views and sheep :-) outside of the French windows to boot!"
Guests arrive into the kitchen/breakfast room, with handmade kitchen units and French doors opening onto a south-facing patio. The dual aspect sitting room has the large inglenook fireplace, complete with medieval graffiti, housing a wood-burning stove. Upstairs, there is a master bedroom with a specially commissioned handmade king-sized bed. This has fantastic views over the grounds and neighbouring farmland, and a magnificent bathroom with freestanding roll-top bath and large walk-in shower.
The Cross Wing enjoys private gardens, which include a south-facing fully paved patio, with lawns stretching down to a pond, there is also ample parking for two cars. Guests will also benefit from the use of extensive walks around the grounds.
Sitting Room
Dual aspect room with magnificent inglenook fireplace, housing a wood-burning stove with bressumer beam above, featuring 16th Century medieval markings. Exposed beams and waxed floorboards. Original beehive bread oven, leather sofas, wing back armchair, and coffee table.
Kitchen/Breakfast Room
Dual aspect room offering views over the grounds and meadows beyond. Handmade kitchen units with oak work surfaces and dishwasher. Specially commissioned handmade dining table and chairs, handmade floor pamments and double doors opening to the south-facing sun terrace.
Bedroom
Vaulted ceiling, king-sized handmade bed, antique furniture, and window offering far-reaching views over the grounds.
Bathroom
Window offering views over neighbouring farmland. Freestanding roll top bath and walk-in shower. Low-level W.C and basin. Wide oak original floorboards and exposed beams.
THE COTTAGE
Guests enter via the sitting room, with it's restored inglenook fireplace - complete with wood burning stove. The kitchen/diner has bespoke handmade kitchen units and brick floor together with furniture handmade specifically for The Cottage. Up the cottage stairs, is the bedroom with a handmade king-sized bed and a large window offering stunning views over six-acre gardens and farmland beyond. The en-suite bathroom is a nod to modern luxury, with a freestanding roll-top bath and separate shower.
Outside the property enjoys private gardens, which include a south-facing fully paved patio, and lawns overlooking a picturesque pond, there is also ample parking for two cars. Guests will also benefit from the use of the six acre grounds surrounding The Cottage.
Sitting Room
Dual aspect room offering views over the front garden and meadows beyond. Impressive inglenook fireplace housing a wood-burning stove and original bread oven to the side. Exposed beams and with natural coir flooring. Sofa, armchair, flat-screen TV, iPod docking station, and coffee table.
Kitchen
Dual aspect room offering views over the front garden and meadows beyond. Handmade kitchen units with oak work surfaces, integrated dishwasher, and Smeg oven. Dining table with benches. The floor is made from original yard bricks from Alde House, which was formally the residence of Elizabeth Garrett Anderson who was instrumental in the Women's Suffrage Movement in 1866.
Bedroom
Window offering southerly views over the six-acre grounds and neighbouring farmland beyond. King-sized bed with side table and lamps. Exposed beams, red brick chimney breast, and waxed wooden floorboards.
Bathroom
Dual aspect room offering views over the grounds and neighbouring farmland beyond. Freestanding roll top bath and separate shower. Low-level W.C, washbasin, exposed beams and waxed wooden floorboards.
Outside
The two cottages are adjacent but not interconnecting, approached over a shared drive which passes a third property, The Seed Store which can also be booked in conjunction for additional guests. Each cottage has private parking for two cars with a gate opening to an enclosed garden which is partly laid to lawn and features a south-facing fully paved sun terrace with garden furniture including outside table and chairs with space for you to dine together. The sun terrace enjoys stunning views over the adjoining meadows which feature a range of native hedging, trees, and grazing livestock. Guests will also have access to walks around these fields.
Whats Included?
All prices include 100% cotton bed linen, towels, heating and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and nibbles to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.
Each stylish self-catering cottage is equipped with gas central heating and an open fire. Appliances include a flat screen TV. In the kitchen there is a four-ring ceramic hob, a microwave and integrated appliances including: electric oven, fridge, freezer, and slim-line dishwasher.
A travel cot and high chair are available on request at the time of booking.
Please note that these cottages are not interconnecting. They are semi-detached with adjacent gardens so you can enjoy the company of your friends as well as some privacy. The stairs at both of the cottages are steep, and the door way into the living room is very low.
Sorry, no smoking or unaccompanied teenagers are permitted at this property.
A well-behaved dog is welcome downstairs. If you wish to bring a dog it must be mentioned at the time of booking on the booking form and is subject to our conditions of booking.
Children are welcome.
These holiday cottages are situated close to a main road and so some traffic noise can be heard. However the outside seating areas and 6 acres of meadow give you a feeling of plenty of space away from it.
Once you have filled out the online booking form, you will be given the option to pay by credit or debit card, or by BACs transfer. A 25% deposit is requested at the time of your booking to secure your booking. The balance and a returnable good housekeeping deposit are due six weeks before your holiday commences.
