Snape is one of east Suffolk’s most sought after villages, famous for the Maltings, which have been developed into the home of the Aldeburgh Festival and are now the host for a renowned calendar of music events, but also surrounding the concert hall are many boutique shops – and there are many beautiful walks along the River Alde and a pub, the Plough and Sail to visit. The village of Snape has two excellent pubs, The Golden Key and Crown, both within walking distance of the cottage and there is a footpath just on the doorstep. There is also the famous Sailors Path, a wonderful 4 mile walk towards Aldeburgh – highly recommended.
Aldeburgh and Orford are both a short drive away and offer a wide range of excellent restaurants and cultural attractions, which in the case of Aldeburgh includes golf, sailing and arts festivals and with Orford Ruth Watson’s excellent Crown and Castle, the Butley Oysterage and Orford Ness are all well worth visiting.
A short walk from the cottage there is a service station which is very useful.
A well-behaved dog is welcome in the living space only (not the carpeted bedroom area). If you wish to bring a dog it must be mentioned at the time of booking on the booking form and is subject to our conditions of booking.
