Charming Holiday Village
Thorpeness is a charming holiday village, largely designed by the Scottish playwright and barrister Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie, a century ago. It is just 1.5 miles along the beach from Aldeburgh with it’s excellent eateries, pubs, variety of shops, art galleries and independent cinema.
Things to do
A number of shops and eateries, village shop and the Dolphin Inn, The Kitchen and popular Meare café are all within walking distance. You cannot miss the iconic House in the Clouds, hovering on the skyline! The shingle beach and Country Club with tennis courts and games rooms. All of which are often available during half term holidays as well as the summer months.
Meanwhile, come for the Thorpeness Carnival, it really is a beautiful evening not to be missed! Hundreds of people gather for the event which normally takes place end of August each year. Furthermore, a wonderful display of fireworks light up the mere and create a stunning colourful sky! Along with a string of floats which are also very impressive.
