NEW PROPERTY – The Moorings
We are delighted to showcase our latest addition to the Best of Suffolk family, The Moorings in Orford.
This 18th century fisherman’s cottage sits in a wonderful position near the quay, castle, picturesque heart of Orford and is just a few doors down from the Jolly Sailor, a traditional pub.
The Moorings is charmingly furnished with nautical touches and oozes character with beams, a brick fireplace and stone floors.
Cosy Living Area
A welcoming hallway opens into the hub of the cottage. With kitchen/breakfast room wrapping round to the cosy living room. The bright bathroom is also on the ground floor and stairs rise to the master bedroom with en suite cloakroom on the first floor. A wonderful ship’s staircase takes adventurous guests up to the twin room with view of the River Alde.

The property has all of the best requirements, including being pet friendly, parking, Wi-Fi, woodburner and river views, and best of all walking distance to a pub!
Within Orford itself there is so much to see and enjoy, arguably one of the most featured points is Orford Castle. Touring high over the town, with magnificent views over Orford Ness and home to the village museum. This is a fantastic way to enjoy learning all about the history. Why not take advantage of open grass space by having a picnic in the sunshine beneath the castle?
The Quay area is a very diverse space, enjoying the beautiful views and array of colourful boats. Here you can enjoy longs walks around Orford taking in the views. Moreover, Orford Quay is a fantastic spot to enjoy an afternoon of crabbing with the whole family.
While there, partake in a pot of tea and piece of cake from the café in the huts. Furthermore, from here you can see Orford Lighthouse, an iconic building on the Suffolk Coast. After that, hop on a boat across to Orford Ness.
In the Market Square you have Pump Street Bakery which is the award winning bakery where they create lovely artisan bread using sour dough, pastries and chocolatier. It also has a cafe serving brunch and pastries and even does takeaways. Please note it is closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Orford is the perfect base to enjoy the Suffolk Coast and the Suffolk Countryside.
With the beautiful coastal towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh to enjoy. With their sandy/pebbles beach, variety of fantastic independent shops and eateries – a whole lot of fun for the whole family enjoy.
Outstanding Natural Beauty
Close to Orford is Rendlesham Forest and area of Outstanding Natural beauty. There’s something for everyone, including play areas, a bike park for both beginner and experienced riders, sculptures to discover in the Tangham Wood. Plenty of walks to enjoy with places for picnics. Why not walk the UFO trail and discover more about the famous UFO sighting in December 1980.
