“Coconut Cottage is an ideal holiday home.”

It's a very well-equipped cottage in a quiet spot, even though it is just around the corner from the main street in Long Melford. The owner provided lots of little nice touches to make it feel like a home from home (Much appreciated was the welcome basket). Would definitely recommend it!

“Another great stay at Coconut Cottage, and each visit never disappoints.”

Everything you could wish for is provided and more. We really appreciated the Christmas decorations, a lovely gesture along with a goodie box. The cottage is well positioned, central to local facilities and great having parking at the door. Lovely to have my dog made welcome with his own dish and treats. Looking forward to another visit next year.

“We really enjoyed our stay at Coconut Cottage.”

It was extremely comfortable, well-equipped with beautiful decor - also very convenient for all the pubs and fascinating shops in Long Melford. My sister and I are senior citizens and our only concern was the bath/shower. There were no grab handles so we were too afraid to have a bath as we knew we'd have difficulty getting out. There was a slip mat which we used when having a shower - but a grab handle on the wall near the shower would have given extra confidence. Overall, we loved the cottage.

“Fine overall.”

Well equipped. A few maintenance matters, I left a note for the cleaner to report. Bathroom sink let the water drain away quite quickly so washing meant running the water continuously.. Outside gutter at back of house above central small window leaked water down the wall when it rained. Not our concern but the wall is green at the bottom as a result. Forgotten 3rd item on my list.

Thank you for your observations, it’s always helpful to know if something is going wrong. The basin sink in the bathroom has been replaced. Unfortunately in heavy rain the gutters, although regularly cleared do overflow, as I also get the run off from next door. I hope you will come back to visit again! Property Owner

“A delightful cottage in an excellent location.”

The cottage was very well equipped and had everything we needed. Its location was perfect, with plenty of lovely walks from the doorstep and within walking distance of all the amenities that Long Melford has to offer including a good selection of places to eat. This was definitely a lucky find.

Thank you for your positive comments. I only inherited the garden recently as an overgrown patch of weeds, and I am working on the development of it. As the cottage is pretty fully booked, there is only a small window of a couple of hours on a Friday, for maintenance and planting. It is already so much better than it was! The rambling roses are beginning to get into their stride, and soon the arbour will be covered with honeysuckle, roses and clematis. Property Owner

Very clean and spacious, very well equipped kitchen, comfortable and large beds. Easy off-road parking in front of the cottage, which is situated on a quiet street. We’d recommend exploring the local area by taking nice, long walks. Long Melford has lots of charm and character. We’d definitely recommend Coconut Cottage to anyone.

“1 Coconut Cottage is the loveliest and best-equipped holiday cottage I have encountered.”

It is truly a home away from home, including games and activities to while away down times. It is conveniently located to all amenities that include access to many walking trails in and around this historic village. We loved it so much that we renewed out stay and left with a sad heart. “Lovely cottage, kitchen equipped with everything you could want, living area very comfortable, bedrooms spacious and beds comfortable and great shower.”

Garden fine for dog as fully enclosed. Great having parking at your door for unloading etc. initial problem with heating but very quickly resolved by owner who even kindly brought us an electric heater until issue was fixed. Welcome pack much appreciated after a long drive. Will certainly return.

“A proper home-from-home in an excellent location, right in the heart of the Suffolk Wool Towns, and with plenty of country walks and dining options right on the doorstep.”

Had issues with the heating upon our arrival, but the owner came out and sorted the issue within half an hour. The kind neighbour next door looked after the bins for us so we didn't need to worry about that. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at this property and would highly recommend.

With a central position in the picturesque village of Long Melford, 1 Coconut Cottage is quietly situated off the main street, and overlooking the water meadows, whilst being 50 yards from Hall Street for you to enjoy the variety of beautiful independent shops, vibrant art galleries, antique centres and eateries, as well as the wonderful historic sights and walks on offer. 1 Coconut Cottage offers pet-friendly self-catering accommodation for four. Positioned across two floors, with an open plan kitchen/dining room, cloakroom and sitting room on the ground floor, and then two bedrooms and Jack and Jill bathroom on the first floor. Ground Floor Entering into the light and spacious entrance hall, leading to the open plan kitchen/dining room, living room and stairs up to the first floor. There is space to hang your coats and store your shoes. Kitchen/Dining Room Natural light fills this room through the bi-fold doors opening out onto the garden. A space for the whole family to enjoy, with an ample size kitchen featuring an electric oven with grill, four ring ceramic hob with extractor fan above, integrated dishwasher, washing machine, under-counter fridge and freezer, microwave,slow-cooker, kettle and toaster. A large dining table with four chairs is positioned centrally, with views out onto the garden. In the summer months feel the breeze through the bi-fold doors, all whilst enjoying the peace and tranquillity. Cloak Room With wash basin and WC. Natural locally made honey based toiletries have been provided by the owners. Sitting room This double aspect room with french doors is the perfect space to retreat to all year round, in the summer months open up the french doors onto the garden, in the winter months enjoy the flame-effect fire offering a cosy feel. There is a three seater sofa and two seater sofa provided relaxation, with an array of occasional tables. Located in the side unit are a wide range of games and puzzles for the whole family to enjoy. The TV connects to Roku. First Floor Carpeted stairs lead up to the first floor landing, with doors leading to both bedrooms. Bedroom 1 Upon entering this room you will instantly feel a sense of calmness and relaxation. The owners have carefully decorated and furnished this room to offer the ideal place to retreat to at the end of the day. There is a wooden king size bed with bedside units and lamps. There is a wardrobe and chest of drawers provided for your belongings, with the addition of a dressing table and mirror above. Jack and Jill Bathroom This modern bathroom suite includes a bath with overhead shower, wash basin, WC and heated towel rail. There are doors leading into both bedrooms, with both doors lockable. Honeybee toiletries which are made locally in Dedham Vale have been provided for guests use. Bedroom 2 Perfect for both adults and children to enjoy, with stylish wall paper. There are two full size single beds with bedside tables with three drawers and lamps above. There is a large chest of drawers provided for the all important storage your belongings.This room has the addition of a TV for your entertainment. Outside An enclosed garden awaits, with access from the property as well as the side entrance. The garden offers a patio area with table and four chairs, as well as a lawned space. 1 Coconut Cottage has the benefit of one allocated parking space directly outside the cottage. Additional parking can be found at the village hall, just steps from the property, we do recommend a donation is provided if you use this.

Long Melford is a former medieval wool town, and is known as the 'Antique Capital of Suffolk', with a wealth of antique shops, art galleries, tea rooms, restaurants and independent shops, found down the wide tree-lined main street. The village also has the National Trust property Melford Hall, which is unchanged since 1578, and a magnificent 15th Century church which sits on top of the hill at one end of the village. On the outskirts is Kentwell Hall, which has authentic re-creations of everyday life in Tudor or World War II times. The chocolate-box picturesque village of Lavenham is just 5 miles, and Sudbury is 3.5 miles, which makes this village an ideal location to explore Constable Country.
