Best of Suffolk’s NEW St. Margaret’s Cottage in Laxfield is perfect for a restful break for two couples (plus furry friends!)
The property recruitment team here at Best of Suffolk is extremely excited to welcome this cottage to our growing collection. Located in the quaint village of Laxfield in rural Suffolk, this is the perfect base from which to discover Suffolk. After a day of exploring, cosy-up in front of the wood burner in this charming cottage. Even better- one of Suffolk’s quirkiest and most historic pubs is just next door!
Dine in Style
A spacious, airy and extremely stylish open-plan kitchen/dining room welcomes you through the front door of St. Margaret’s Cottage.
This Shaker-style kitchen exudes style but is also ultimately extremely functional and well-equipped. Double French doors into the garden make for easy al-fresco dining (when the weather permits!). This space is completed by a charming and well-stocked Welsh dresser, two-seater sofa, settle, and the dining table that has plentiful seating in this cottage for two couples.
Charming and Cosy
Enjoy true relaxation in the cosy, comfortable, and spacious living-room. This room best show-cases the charming character of this cottage which has been tastefully renovated and retains beautiful beams and an exposed brick wall.
The contemporary furnishings, interesting artwork, and collection of busts and home accessories perfectly complement the original features of this cottage.
Imagine an evening with the spectacular wood burner lit and the curtain at the door drawn for ultimate cosiness. Enjoy some me-time snuggled up with a book in front of the fire on one of the enormous plush sofas. Alternatively, compete as two couples at one of the games provided. In the summer months, throw open the double doors that lead into the quaint garden and let the fresh country air in.
Two Beautiful Bedrooms
Two equally extraordinary bedrooms make this the perfect cottage for two couples to enjoy a trip away. Restful nights are promised in the high super king size bed that takes pride of place between two ornate bedside tables in this first bedroom. The plush velvet chair invites you to sit and truly relax with your morning coffee.
The second bedroom is just as luxurious. Original beams, wooden floorboards, and a wrought iron double bed are complemented by a restful palette of warm earth colours. Furthermore, both bedrooms benefit from chic en suite shower rooms which have large walk-in rain showers, a washbasin, WC, and a heated towel rail.
Laxfield really celebrates the best that rural Suffolk has to offer. Being relatively remote, it is the perfect location for proper R&R. The village shop currently run by the Co-operative Society, however, ensures it is well-equipped.
Pub Next Door
St. Margaret’s Cottage is spectacularly located right next-door to the uniquely charming The King’s Head pub (known locally as ‘The Low House’.)
Step back in time when you enter the Low House, which has remained mainly unaltered for over 400 years. This charmingly unique pub actually has no bar but serves fantastic local real ales straight from the casks in the Tap Room.
In the winter, head here for the pub’s high backed settles and warm open fire. As the weather improves, flock to the beautiful large back garden.
From pub quizzes to celebrity chefs; themed food evenings and music nights there’s always something exciting going on at the Low House. This is truly a pub like none you may have visited before!
The historic market town of Framlingham is only a short drive from Laxfield. Head here for a day trip to explore the gorgeous castle, famous in Tudor history, and walk the streets where Ed Sheeran grew up.
