What makes a day special? Well for this particular blogger, it was our day at the beautiful Broadwater, Framlingham. Interestingly, it’s the latest addition to the Best of Suffolk collection of properties in Suffolk. Plus, it’s a magnificent Georgian house in 40 acres of landscaped grounds. Did you know, it also has it’s own vineyard, swimming pool and tennis court?
This is a house I had known, and admired from afar since I was a little boy. I grew up in the next village, gazing from the school bus window. I attended the nearby Thomas Mills school, although not at the same time as local hero Ed Sheeran! On my way to school I’d often wonder ‘what’s it like inside?’ and ‘I wonder who lives there?’. Well we now know the answer to both those questions! Inside Broadwater is truly as breath-taking as outside. And as to who lives there, for a week or two, it could be you!
First Impressions Count
Feeling the ‘buzz’ as the electric gates open for you, offering an intriguing glimpse along a wooded, curving drive, towards the house. As the drive opens up, the wisteria-clad house appears on your left, as does the magnificent views over unspoiled Suffolk countryside. It’s clear, Broadwater is special.
Broadwater is Beautiful Inside and Out
Inside lies a fantasy of curved staircases, crinoline doors, huge casement windows and the space and freedom that only a classically proportioned Georgian country house can offer. Picture this, a celebratory dinner in the dining room. Perhaps drinks in the drawing room? An evening playing cards in the sitting room. How about this? An informal, lazy breakfast in the kitchen, while your dogs sleep in front of the Aga. the choice is yours!
Outside, your options expand along with the views. Choices now range from a game of tennis, a dip in the pool, or drinks on the terrace. What about a stroll around your 40 acres? You could inspect the vines, walk amid the formal gardens or through the parkland.
Should you be tempted to venture out of Broadwater, you’ll find Framlingham.
