The 12 century castle remains well preserved, allowing visitors the opportunity to walk around the castle walls and admire the stunning views of Framlingham and the surrounding countryside. The castle has plenty of games and interactive exhibits, making it the perfect place for a trip with all the family! Framlingham Castle is set above Framlingham Mere, a 13.8ha nature reserve that encompasses a lake and wet meadows. Ideal for spotting spot birds and wild flowers.<\/p>\n

Sitting between the Alde and Deben Valleys, Framlingham is also surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in East Suffolk, where you can find numerous foot and bridle paths to enjoy a long walk. A must is the Brownsord Way \u2013 a circular 11 mile walk that gives panoramic views of the town.<\/p>\n
When all that exploring builds up an appetite, you are spoiled for choice in Framlingham. Traditional pubs to cosy up in include The Crown, The Castle and The Railway. Plus tearooms aplenty for those that fancy a coffee and a cake!<\/p>\n
Framlingham Gala Day, Country Fair and The Great Framlingham Sausage Festival are but a few events which take place in this market town.<\/p>\n
For fans of the celebrity and all things famous, the Mackenzie Crook metal-detecting comedy Detectorists is filmed in Framlingham, despite being set in a fictional town in Devon. Suffolk\u2019s famous son, Ed Sheeran, is from Framlingham, with \u201cCastle on the Hill\u201d being about the triple-platinum artists\u2019 trips home to his family and friends.<\/p>\n
