We try out our properties with our families and friends to provide first-hand experience of our stays.\u00a0 From the property itself to the local area, things to do, and places to eat \u2013 we \u2018try and test\u2019 it all.\u00a0 After all, there\u2019s nothing better than a personal recommendation, especially when it comes to something as important as a holiday!<\/p>\n

In this edition, Hannah (our Portfolio Manager), and her husband James tried out The Granary at Red House Farm for a pre-Christmas break.<\/p>\n

The Granary at Red House Farm, Fressingfield<\/h2>\n

If you\u2019re looking for a relaxing break as a couple or with family and friends, this light and airy self-catering accommodation will be perfect for you!\u00a0 The Granary was beautifully renovated in 2017, retaining high ceilings and whitewashed beams from the 19th-century barn, complemented by attractive French Farmhouse style furnishings, a restful palette of soft tones and charming countryside touches to reflect the surroundings.\u00a0 Find out how Hannah and James spent their pre-Christmas long weekend in the Suffolk countryside.<\/p>\n

VIEW & BOOK THE GRANARY AT RED HOUSE FARM<\/a><\/p>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

Location, Location, Location!<\/h3>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

The Granary is a large detached property sitting on Red House Farm in rural Suffolk, surrounded by farmland, just 30 minutes drive from the beautiful Suffolk Heritage Coast.\u00a0 It’s an ideal base from which to explore Suffolk, on foot or by car!<\/p>\n

Fressingfield is the closest village where you’ll find the Fox and Goose<\/a>, an AA 2 Rosettes fine restaurant and country pub; it’s a lovely country walk (just under two miles).<\/p>\n

Stradbroke is 2.6 miles away, with a couple more pubs and various village shops and there are many other quintessentially English villages with excellent pubs serving local food and ales close by.<\/p>\n

This comfortable holiday home is an ideal base from which to explore East Anglia with major towns of Norfolk and Ipswich within reach and many picturesque coastal villages boasting stretches of unspoiled beaches with fishing huts and candy coloured seaside houses. Southwold is a must-visit with a sandy beach, famous pier, and excellent range of shops and restaurants plus, for beer lovers, it is home to the famous Adnams Brewery.\u00a0 Beautiful walks can be enjoyed at Dunwich forest and heath, Minsmere wildlife reserve, and the pretty coastal village of Walberswick.<\/p>\n

The Granary at Red House Farm: First Impressions<\/h3>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

We all know first impressions really do count!\u00a0 From receiving the arrival details by email for The Granary at Red House Farm, Hannah and James were excited to check-in.\u00a0 After easily finding the key box and using the code provided, the excitement built as they opened the door for the first time to explore!<\/p>\n

Incredible Outdoor Space<\/h3>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

The Granary is in a beautiful tranquil setting, surrounded by fields.\u00a0 Perfect for bird watching along with looking out for wildlife, they kept a lookout for the resident owl but sadly no sightings that weekend.\u00a0 You can sit and enjoy the stunning views from the warmth and comfort of the living room which looks out across the backfields.<\/p>\n

Finishing Touches<\/h3>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

The owner, Beka, has worked hard to create some of the most beautiful Christmas decorations with a real Christmas tree, fairy lights sweeping across the property, and lots of beautiful handcrafted decorations, all of which well and truly made the most perfect pre-Christmas break.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

On the Friday evening, a buffet was cooked up in the well-equipped spacious kitchen, enjoyed with some of the owner\u2019s home-made sloe gin (which was scrummy!) and Christmas films, all with the wood-burning stove roared away in the background.<\/p>\n

Beka also leaves guests a wonderful welcome pack with home-made treats, and really enjoys going all-out to ensure a warm welcome.\u00a0 whether you’re staying in spring, summer, autumn or winter, Beka is sure to please and delight all guests by going the extra mile for those all-important finishing touches.<\/p>\n

Comfort and Luxury<\/h3>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

Both luxury and comfort await you at The Granary at Red House Farm.\u00a0 Accommodating six people over three bedrooms (two kings and one king\/zip and link twin) it provides the ultimate flexibility for families, groups of couples or friends.<\/p>\n

Hannah and James were truly spoilt for choice but opted for the master bedroom on the first floor.\u00a0 The gorgeous bedroom has beams and a double-height ceiling and long window with a stunning view of the moat.<\/p>\n

The two further bedrooms are just as opulent.\u00a0 The Bunny Bedroom provides flexibility by being made up into either a king or a twin.\u00a0 Ideal for the children, or if you have friends that prefer their own sleeping space.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

The Deer Bedroom is another king and the double doors open onto the courtyard where you can sit with your morning coffee (on slightly warmer days!).<\/p>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

Framlingham<\/h3>\n

\"Framlingham<\/p>\n

On the Saturday morning they headed out early to enjoy a long walk at the neighboring market town of Framlingham.\u00a0 They parked up in the castle at Framlingham car park, which is charged at \u00a33 for the day.<\/p>\n

Here is a great base to get the welly boots and coat on and head off from the Castle itself exploring the grounds and then off across the fields, there are some wonderful views to be enjoyed of the castle.<\/p>\n

\"Framlignham<\/p>\n

On our way back we stopped at 221B Bakery to stock up on some tasty treats to enjoy back at The Granary that afternoon.<\/p>\n

Back at The Granary there are some beautiful walks to be had and the owner is happy for you to enjoy walks through the 10 acres of land.<\/p>\n

Well-Equipped Kitchen<\/h3>\n

If you are looking for a base to sit and enjoy and cook up some culinary delights then The Granary is the perfect choice.\u00a0 The kitchen is stocked full of all of the cooking and baking items you could ever need \u2013 with a large wooden dining table to sit back and enjoy quality time together over good food and drink.<\/p>\n

Stunning Suffolk Views<\/h3>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

On the Sunday morning they got up early and were lucky enough to have the most beautiful view from the master bedroom of the pink sky across the neighbouring pond.\u00a0 Talk about picture perfect!<\/p>\n

Exploring The Suffolk Coast<\/h3>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

After breakfast, Hannah and James headed off to one of the local beaches.\u00a0 With so many wonderful beaches within a 30-minute drive, it was a hard decision, but they settled on Walberswick.\u00a0 A pretty coastal Suffolk village just south of Southwold, famed for its crabbing and boasts a wonderful beach.<\/p>\n

Although it was a cloudy day, it was great to enjoy a blustery walk along the seafront setting themselves up for the day head.<\/p>\n

If I Had More Time, I Would…<\/h2>\n

Eat at the Fox & Goose, Fressingfield<\/h3>\n

At just under 2 miles from The Granary’s door to the fine restaurant and country pub, you’ve just enough time to work up an appetite before you arrive!\u00a0 Plus you can enjoy the delicious food of knowing you’ve earned it!\u00a0 If you give notice, the owners are also happy to offer lifts to and from the Fox & Goose, what more could you want?!<\/p>\n

Situated in the heart of North Suffolk serving a very high standard of traditional and modern cooking with attention to the quality and selection of ingredients, the Fox & Goose has been awarded AA 2 Rosettes and featured in the Michelin and Harden’s food guides.\u00a0 When you book your break to The Granary, best to sure to book your table at the Fox and Goose too!<\/p>\n

Sit in the Sunshine!<\/h3>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

This was a pre-Christmas break so Hannah and James’s time in the garden was limited.\u00a0 However, for breaks where warmer weather permits, the outdoor space at The Granary at Red House Farm is made for entertaining!<\/p>\n

This detached granary has an enclosed east-facing courtyard with secure parking for a couple of cars and space to sit with your morning coffee.\u00a0 At the back is a wide patio, furnished with an outdoor dining table and chairs and a Weber BBQ – a peaceful place to sit back and enjoy the surroundings with barn owls and muntjacs regularly passing by.<\/p>\n

Explore Local Footpaths<\/h3>\n

\"Deer<\/p>\n

You are completely immersed in the Suffolk countryside at The Granary at Red House Farm.\u00a0 With many local footpaths to explore and walks to be done, it’s ideal for walkers.\u00a0 No need to get in the car with so much beauty right on your doorstep!<\/p>\n

The Verdict: The Granary at Red House Farm<\/h2>\n

The Granary is a superb choice to base yourself when exploring Suffolk, being able to enjoy the busy coastal and market towns but to retreat to quietness for some relaxing times \u2013 complete with parking and space for little ones to run around in safety in the enclosed courtyard.<\/p>\n

All in all the weekend was absolutely fantastic and Hannah and James feeling extremely Christmassy and relaxed.<\/p>\n
