{"id":3397,"date":"2019-09-30T13:06:40","date_gmt":"2019-09-30T12:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bos.cottage-search.com\/blog\/2019\/09\/30\/best-of-suffolk-aldeburgh-triathlon\/"},"modified":"2022-09-23T13:12:40","modified_gmt":"2022-09-23T12:12:40","slug":"best-of-suffolk-aldeburgh-triathlon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/best-of-suffolk-aldeburgh-triathlon\/","title":{"rendered":"Best of Suffolk take to the track!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Best of Suffolk Dream Team take on the Aldeburgh Triathlon<\/h2>\n<p>On Sunday 15 September, some of the Best of Suffolk team took to the track for the <a href=\"https:\/\/aldeburghtriahlon.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aldeburgh Triathlon Team Relay.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now an annual fixture, the hugely supported event was back for\u00a0 the 5<sup>th<\/sup> year running.\u00a0 As I, Iona, and my sister, Eliza, wondered down the High Street towards the Moot Hall, we had no idea what to expect.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-39949\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/08\/XhvXDO4SPy42kfjxdROQw_thumb_7d1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Neither of us had taken part in this event before, but rest assured we will be taking part next year.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-39945\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/08\/lCe9G9LSRcGVbAy1UsSutQ_thumb_7ec.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>The Unknown!<\/h3>\n<p>As we got closer to the Moot Hall we could sense the excitement and nerves raising.\u00a0 The crowds were gathering, everyone looking very sporty and professional.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-39948\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/08\/shtPxVjbT06PMsmBmPb38Q_thumb_7d3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Sponsored by Best of Suffolk<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-39967\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/08\/3zu1T9T6SeaouFPZXFGLxg_thumb_7c8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Surrounding the crowds were the proudly standing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/\">Best of Suffolk<\/a> flags, as one of the main sponsors of Aldeburgh Triathlon Best of Suffolk felt every proud to have two teams taking part.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-39944\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/08\/DSWZwWq9S4GfDarRb7mLIw_thumb_7ef.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Amongst the crowd we met up with Donna also from Best of Suffolk, the Best of Suffolk Ladies Team was now ready and raring to go!\u00a0 With Eliza taking on the 1000m swim, myself doing the 15-mile cycle ride, and Donna running 5K, we were the Dream Team\u2026or so we thought!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-39943\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/08\/2pSafKOlQG6J3gzUUG7kg_thumb_7c9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Best of Suffolk Gentleman\u2019s team was made up of Tim and two of his great friends, Jim and Will.\u00a0 The six of us all joined together for a team talk before kickoff at 11am.\u00a0 At this stage the nerves were really starting to kick in.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-39947\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/08\/Y4GeWJ2nTTWqgRWAEK5ig_thumb_7e6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Eliza and Will made their way up to the famous Scallop on the beach between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/suffolk-breaks\/by-region\/thorpeness-cottages\/\">Thorpeness<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/suffolk-breaks\/by-region\/aldeburgh-cottages\/\">Aldeburgh<\/a>, to join all of the other swimmers.\u00a0 Afterwards, Eliza said \u201cthe swim was exhilarating and totally thrilling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-39966\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/08\/18p7sPqQIWuxZ77EMWuQ_thumb_7e0.jpg\" alt=\"Aldeburgh Triathlon\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Both of the swimmers did so well! Will\u2019s time being 12 minutes and Eliza very close behind with 14 minutes. They both finished among the top 30 swimmers!<\/p>\n<p>So when Eliza came out of the sea, along the carpet to the road outside the White Lion, she quickly past me our team band and off I went!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-39950\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/08\/rkacW7BRrqGzLKelodUw_thumb_7d5-1.jpg\" alt=\"Aldeburgh Triathlon\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Second Lap<\/h3>\n<p>The 15-mile bike was from Aldeburgh to Thorpeness and to Aldringham and back to Aldeburgh twice.\u00a0 I must say I thought I had finished when I got back to Aldeburgh for the first time\u2026but I was told I needed to do the lap again!\u00a0 The 15-miles took me in total 1 hour and 7 minutes, which I was pretty pleased with.\u00a0 Unfortunately it wasn\u2019t enough to keep up with the top athletes but it&#8217;s all about taking part.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-39953\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/08\/NXMZM26cQ27xmOTemlrLA_thumb_7e4.jpg\" alt=\"Aldeburgh Triathlon\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Run, run, run!<\/h3>\n<p>Donna was waiting for me as I came back into Aldeburgh for the second time.\u00a0 I passed over the band and wished her the best of luck!\u00a0 Within 35 minutes Donna was back over the finish line.\u00a0 So in total the Best of Suffolk Ladies team finished with a total time of just under 2 hours!\u00a0 However, the Best of Suffolk Gentleman\u2019s team finished in 1 hour 30 minutes, so well done to them!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-39954\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/08\/kBrFub6gSu22SQOiDOoVhA_thumb_7ee.jpg\" alt=\"Aldeburgh Triathlon\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As Donna ran over the finish line she was presented with three medals for each of us.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-40283\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2019-10-08-at-16.23.50.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"1279\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Best of Suffolk sponsored the medals and we were very proud to wear them around Aldeburgh.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-39955\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/08\/kyOQltX6TgeezuTP9utykw_thumb_7f0.jpg\" alt=\"Aldeburgh Triathlon\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" \/><\/p>\n<p>All in all a wonderfully organised event, with some fantastic athletes and some great fun&#8230;until next year!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-39956\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/08\/XhvXDO4SPy42kfjxdROQw_thumb_7d1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Stay in Aldeburgh<\/h2>\n<p>Aldeburgh is a stunning, classic coastal town that welcomes tens of thousands of visitors and holiday makers every year.\u00a0 Ideal for families young and old, the Aldeburgh appeal continues to grow.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re tempted to book a break in Aldeburgh, book with Best of Suffolk.\u00a0 We have some stunning stylish places on stay in Aldeburgh that can offer sea views, accommodation for families and extended families.
