Eventually occupying all of the ground floor rooms and forcing them to move out. The office had to capture all of that! The feeling was, to attract the very best team needed to sustain our growth, we needed an amazing workspace to inspire, motivate and accommodate our future growth.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5624\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5624\" class=\"wp-image-5624 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/09\/Best-of-Suffolk-Construction-External-Scaffolding-1024x681-1.jpg\" alt=\"Best of Suffolk Office Construction\" width=\"1024\" height=\"681\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5624\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Suffolk barn that was to become Best of Suffolk\u2019s home.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>From humble beginnings<\/h2>\n<p>Right next to Lime Tree Farm, this traditional Suffolk barn was ideal. Itself a listed building, made of clay lump and timber and right next to the farmhouse. Time to set to work! Working with a combination of a local, conservation architect and a London based contemporary specialist, Alex worked on the design. The design was to celebrate the original structure but make it work as a modern workspace.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5625\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5625\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5625\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/09\/Best-of-Suffolk-Early-Days-Inside-Barn-1024x681-1.jpg\" alt=\"Best of Suffolk Office\" width=\"1024\" height=\"681\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5625\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">As you can see, the renovation was a labour of love.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Local craftsmen<\/h2>\n<p>He worked with his established team of local craftsmen to restore the clay lump, repaint with traditional lime, repair the roof and brickwork and then create the contemporary conservation. A main element was the steel mezzanine, which does not touch the original walls, meaning it could be removed and leave the original structure unaffected. The stairs and bridge were designed by an expert in \u2018super light weight\u2019 structures, meaning its the minimum amount of metal possible to enable access to the first floor.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5626\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5626\" class=\"wp-image-5626 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/09\/Best-of-Suffolk-Office-Local-Craftsmen-1024x681-1.jpg\" alt=\"Best of Suffolk Office built by local craftsmen\" width=\"1024\" height=\"681\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5626\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Local craftsmen working on the build at Best of Suffolk headquarters.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Low carbon<\/h2>\n<p>With the environment in mind, as well as conserving the structure and using low carbon materials, there was also from the outset LED lighting, heating from wood pellets and the insulation was lambswool.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5620\" style=\"width: 1032px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5620\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5620\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/09\/2-Best-of-Suffolk-Inside-Staircase-MG.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1022\" height=\"680\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5620\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">When the office was first completed, it also became home to Alex\u2019s beloved MG!<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Bespoke fittings<\/h2>\n<p>The final fit-out was bespoke, with all the desks being hand-built by local craftsmen and the furniture mid-century originals from iconic designers such as Eames, Noguchi, Knoll and Saarinen.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5638\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5638\" class=\"wp-image-5638 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofsuffolk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/09\/Best-of-Suffolk-Desks-and-Cabinets-1024x682-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5638\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bespoke desks were fitted for a beautifully designed workspace.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>January 2012 \u2013 It became our home!<\/h2>\n<p>In January 2012 the scene was set, our wonderful team could move in and Best of Suffolk finally had a home it could call it\u2019s own.
