Deep in the heart of sumptuous Friston, there once were 9 famous shoemakers. Take yourself back to 1850, where they would make and mend early innovations of shoes and, at Shoemakers Cottage, one of those nine used to live there, working until late at night designing and creating his next line of shoes.
Located near Aldeburgh and Snape, Shoemakers Cottage is steeped in history, and in fact, contains the original 1800s shoemaker artefacts found buried within the earth closet where the summer house now stands. This charming holiday cottage has also retained its original period features of a bread oven, inglebrook fireplace and cast iron kitchen range.
Loose yourself in the cosiness of Shoemakers Cottage as you’re welcomed straight into the rustic sitting room complete with an open fire, the study that used to be the shoemaker’s workplace, and the well-appointed open plan kitchen/dining area with a large fridge/freezer.
This beautiful self catering holiday cottage features two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and an en-suite, the other with a single/twin beds. From this bedroom you can see the rear aspect views of the tallest post mill in all of England.
