"We have thoroughly enjoyed our break. Willows barn is beautiful, really well equipped, really comfy bed and we felt very at home here. There is so much to do here, we wish we were staying longer!

This gorgeous holiday cottage for two is a stylish and very spacious retreat situated in the heart of the Suffolk countryside and just a short drive to the Heritage Coast.  Willows Barn is a brisk walk or very short car journey to the historic market town of Framlingham. It’s a great place to relax away from it all, with its stylish interior and delightful finishing touches.

It has a large open plan living/dining/kitchen area with a wonderful double-sided wood-burning stove in the middle of the room.  The spacious bedroom has a superking bed and a freestanding bath to luxuriate in, and there’s an en-suite shower room too.  Outside there are two patios, a full size tennis court and off-road parking.

The Accommodation

Open plan living/kitchen/dining room:  This large room has a wonderful central wood-burning stove with doors that can be opened on either side, so put your feet up and relax in front of the glow.  There’s a 2 ½ seater sofa and an armchair in Vanessa Arbuthnott fabrics, a large 37” flat screen HD TV with Freesat channels, a Blu-ray/DVD player, a digital radio CD player with Ipod docking station and WiFi.  Lovely mullioned windows looking out in both directions, one to a large south facing terrace over looking the tennis court and the other to a secluded woodland garden and patio.

The kitchen/dining area has an oak dining table and beech shaker style chairs.  The kitchen has handmade painted wooden cupboards and a beautiful Iroko worksurface.  Appliances include a Smeg electric hob and oven, a double butler sink, a Smeg tall fridge-freezer, and a slimline dishwasher. 

Bedroom with bath:  You’ll be relaxing in a superking size bed in this large bedroom.  Other furniture includes oak bedside tables, a dressing table, wardrobe with hanging space and drawers and a lovely freestanding claw foot deep bath with painted wooden panelling behind.

En-suite shower room: There’s a corner shower, a hand basin, a w.c. and a heated towel rail.

Outside: The property has two patios, a secluded patio with a café style table and chairs and the willow trees that give the property its name, and a much larger terrace.  The large terrace has a wooden steamer chair and wooden sun lounger with a low level drinks table, perfect for relaxing with a newspaper or good book.  

There’s an oak-framed pergola with brushwood shading for sunny days and a fire-pit style BBQ.  This south facing terrace overlooks the full-size tennis court which you are welcome to use. There is off-road parking for several cars.

About the area

Willows Barn is situated about 1½ miles from the pretty market town of Framlingham where you’ll find a supermarket, a bakery, a deli and several pubs and cafes amongst its facilities. Just half a mile in the other direction is the stunning English Heritage owned Saxtead Green Post Mill. The Suffolk coast is just half an hour’s drive away.

Our Top Five Tips for exploring the area:

1. Explore the pretty market town of Framlingham, stretching your leg’s on the circular walk and visiting the spectacular 12th century castle owned by English Heritage, before heading to the Dancing Goat cafe on the market square for cappuccinos and panninis.

2. Take a trip to Shawsgate Vineyard for a tour of the growing grapes before tasting and buying some of their delicious wines or bring your golf clubs and play a round at Cretingham near Ufford.

3. Willows Barn is on a National Cycle Route, so why not bring your bicycles.

4. Take a trip out in your car to the coast for fish and chips at Aldeburgh or Southwold and breathe in that fresh and salty sea air.

5. Don’t go anywhere, bring books and DVDs and relax in the beautiful countryside surroundings of Willows Barn. If you are feeling energetic bring your tennis shoes and rackets for a game or two on the tennis court. (rackets and balls are provided for your convenience).

What’s included?

All prices include 100% cotton bed linen, towels, heating and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.

This detached property is situated in the grounds of a Suffolk farmhouse and has underfloor heating throughout.  Appliances include a large 37” flat screen TV with freesat channels, Blu-ray/DVD player, digital radio with CD player, WiFi access, and an Ipod docking station.  There’s a built-in electric hob and oven, slimline dishwasher, tall Smeg fridge with a two-shelf freezer. The property has tiled flooring with rugs throughout.  A travel cot and high chair for non-walking babies and a microwave are available from the property owners on request at the time of booking.  You’ll also find a selection of books and board games at the barn.

Notes and restrictions:

Sorry no infants of walking age or older, no smoking, pets or unaccompanied teenagers permitted at the property.

2. Make a provisional booking by clicking on your arrival date, then click on your departure date. You will then be prompted to fill out a booking form. Only dates that are underlined can be selected as arrival and departure dates. For enquiries about other dates please email or call us.

3. How to pay. When you have filled out your booking form you can choose to pay online by credit or debit card or send a cheque. A 25% deposit is requested at the time of your booking. The balance and a £100 returnable good housekeeping deposit (subject to terms and conditions) are due six weeks before your holiday commences. Please note there is a 1.5% charge for credit card payments. There is no charge for debit card or cheque payments.
