Relaxing beachside holiday home with sea views

“Lovely place, beautiful design & very comfortable”

This magical beachside holiday property with stunning sea views sleeps six to eight people in three bedrooms. This is a chill-out holiday retreat with a relaxed atmosphere, just a couple of miles up the coast from Aldeburgh at Thorpeness.

Once a fisherman's dwelling, this chic single storey beach cottage is light and airy with dramatic sea views on three sides of the building. The open plan living space with natural fibre carpet runs down two sides of the property and has ample seating on the large corner sofa and a large day bed - both finished with masses of cushions.

A long refectory table provides a wonderful setting for meals with family and friends, which can be cooked on the Smeg range cooker in the simply furnished kitchen.

A door leads from the living area to the bedrooms and bathrooms. There are two rooms with double beds and a third has four built-in bunk beds, two of which are child-sized. The upper bunks are reached via a step ladder. This third bedroom has interior rather than external windows which look out into the living room, with views beyond this to the sea. There’s a bathroom with bath, washbasin and w.c. and a shower room with overhead shower, washbasin and w.c. Although the bedrooms aren't particularly big, this is made up for by the generously-sized communal areas and superb location on the beach.

Patio doors lead from the living room area to a generously sized grassed patio area which looks directly out to sea across the sand and shingle beach, with private steps leading onto the beach. The large outside table and chairs plus deck chairs make this an ideal vantage point to wile away the hours looking out to sea or reading magazines.

Valetta is a very relaxed and chic property, perhaps not as highly finished as some of our other properties but it is incredibly popular and well worth a visit.

Thorpeness is about 1½ miles along the beach from Aldeburgh and is a charming holiday village designed by the Scottish playwright and barrister Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie a century ago. He decided to create an idyllic model seaside village, inspired by the writings of JM Barrie, author of Peter Pan. The village has a Meare (local for lake) and its several miles of shallow water can be explored in the summer time by rowing boat. Around the corner from the cottage is the Thorpeness Country Club. Here the tennis courts and games rooms are often available during half term holidays as well as the summer months. The area is ideal for cycling and walking, both along the coast and inland. It's a short walk to the famous ‘House in the Clouds’ and windmill, close to the Meare. There are a number of shops and eateries including The Dolphin Inn, and Thorpeness Brasserie and a Meare-side café.

Rental prices include bed linen and towels, gas and electricity plus a welcoming bottle of wine and chocolate to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.

The property is equipped with central heating, TV, DVD and CD players, Gas BBQ, Smeg range cooker, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer and a phone for incoming calls only. There is off street parking for two cars in front of the house on a grass slope.
