"Lovely home - we felt very comfortable and relaxed. Lovely location. Love the Vivienne Westwood wallpaper!"
Shadingfield Hall Lodge has an idyllic and private countryside location, adjacent to the Regency Shadingfield Hall, down a long drive just 8 miles from Southwold on the coast. It's an ideal location of getting away from it all, just as a Prime Minister chose to do during his summer holiday in 2008.
The Lodge has been renovated to a high standard in every respect. The owners have worked with a top interior designer to create a magical interior, up there with the best boutique hotels. Guests can also expect a sumptuous welcome hamper full of luxury nibbles and refreshments such as, wine, Kettle chips, belgian chocolates and apple juice, upon arrival. This single storey property has a large sitting room with views of the duck pond and a generous kitchen diner. There are two double bedrooms and a large luxury bathroom, complete with roll top bath and large shower. Outside there is a delightful secluded courtyard garden with lovely views over the duck pond.
Ground floor: Guests arriving at the Lodge enter via an oak floored hallway with hanging space and a settee for you to sit on whilst you take off your shoes. The hallway leads to the kitchen-diner, bathroom and bedrooms with a door to the courtyard garden.
Sitting Room: This spacious and beautifully furnished room has French doors and a large window with direct views of the duck pond and the extensive grounds of the hall. The room is decorated with Sanderson wallpaper and furnished with OKA furniture mixed with antique pieces to create a sophisticated space in which to relax and read a book or watch a film on the 32” TV with FreeSat channels and DVD player. There is also a Sony CD player with iPod docking station.
Kitchen/Dining Room: The fully equipped hand-made kitchen has an electric hob and integrated electric oven, fridge, Miele dishwasher, a stainless steel microwave and coffee machine. At one end of the room is a round dining table with seating for four - two antique chairs and an antique bench.
Bedroom 1: This delightful room has a double bed and the windows are dressed with Sanderson ‘Hydrangea’ design curtains that look over the front garden and courtyard garden. There are two bedside tables with wall mounted bedside lamps, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers.
Bedroom 2: This room has stunning Little Green Company wallpaper and is furnished with a double bed, two bedside tables with lamps, a chest of drawers and free-standing hanging space. The large window is dressed with an Irish linen blind and designer Sandberg curtains.
Bathroom: This beautiful room has elegant Vivienne Westwood wall paper, a full size roll top bath with a handheld shower attachment, a large walk in shower with a chrome rain head shower, a hand basin and W.C.
Utility Room: This practical space is as beautifully decorated as the rest of The Lodge with Osborne & Little ‘Leaf’ design wallpaper. There is a Miele washer/dryer, Miele freezer and plenty of storage space.
Outside: To the side of The Lodge is a large duck pond - perfect for those summers' days lounging on the bank and watching the ducks. There is a beautiful private courtyard garden and to the back of The Lodge. There is a Teak wooden table for 6 with 6 chairs and an umbrella. There are many footpaths and bridleways through the entire Sotterley Estate for guest to explore too. Plenty of parking is available just outside The Lodge on the private drive.

This beautiful holiday cottage is located only 8 miles to the beach and shops of the popular seaside town of Southwold on the Suffolk coast, which has an excellent range of restaurants, pubs and shops and here is a pretty walk through the harbour and over a footbridge to the picture-postcard village of Walberswick, home to two good pubs (The Anchor and The Bell) and a long sandy beach. Fresh fish can be bought from the fish huts along the harbour. Southwold is home to the Adnams Brewery and the town's excellent pubs include one of our personal favourites, The Lord Nelson where you can try a range of Adnams beers.
