Just moments from the beach, The Blue House is a carefully renovated Georgian property in a central location on Aldeburgh High Street. The cottage has been comprehensively brought up to date and now sports a stunning kitchen/dining area opening to an enclosed patio beyond.
The cottage is on the corner of Aldeburgh High Street and Hertford Place, from which you'll find the main door, which opens into a hallway at the centre of the house. The sitting room is at the front of the property, featuring a wood-burning stove and windows to the front and side of the property - to the rear of the house is the large kitchen/diner with large folding and French doors opening onto the private patio area. Upstairs there is the master bedroom, a twin bedroom and the modern family bathroom.

GROUND floor: Entering the cottage you find yourself in a hallway which leads to the sitting room on the right, kitchen/diner on the left and stairs to the first floor straight ahead.
SITTing room: Two Corbusier style sofas and a large comfortable chair are situated around the contemporary Mørso wood-burning stove. A glass coffee table sits on a pebble rug bringing a little of the beach into the house. The room has double-aspect windows allowing views down and across Aldeburgh High Street. There is a flat screen TV (with FreeView channels available from November 2011), and a Blu-Ray Disc/DVD player.
Kitchen/Diner: This space has two main areas, one housing the bespoke hand-made kitchen, the other the dining table with Eames DSW chairs. In addition the room includes a dramatic pink Swan sofa and Yamaha digital piano, and CD player/iPod docking station. Continuing the narrative from the sitting room of bringing the outside in, both areas look out through large glazed doors onto a walled patio area, which when the doors are open acts as an extension to the room; perfect for alfresco dining when the weather is right!
FIRST floor: Straight stairs lead from the hallway with pairs of blue LED lights lighting the way and drawing the eye up the stairs to a design classic “Artichoke” style landing light at the landing above, from which all three of the first floor rooms are accessed independently.
Master bedroom: Located at the front of the cottage this room has a modern four poster king-sized bed and benefits again from dual aspect windows giving lovely views along the High Street and across to the marshes. There is a wardrobe that has hanging space, one built-in set of shelves, a separate chest of drawers, and two bedside tables. Wall lights above the bed can be switched from either the wall or from a switch on the lights themselves.
BATHROOM: This room has a full size bath with an overhead shower, a hand basin and W.C. All of the fixtures are contemporary including the chrome rain head over the bath. A bevelled edge mirror with hand-wave activated LED illumination, shelf and shaver socket complete the room.
Bedroom 1: This room has twin single beds and has a large window looking from the rear of the cottage along Hertford Place. There is a wardrobe that has hanging space and drawers, and a shared bedside table with lamp.
OUTSIDE: An enclosed rear patio with high surrounding walls provides a secluded, private outdoor space and has a table with seating for four. Blue LED lights along the wall add an atmospheric touch to warm evenings outside. Beyond the rear of the property is a shared parking area, which is on a first come, first served basis and provides off-road parking close to the property. Further on-road parking is usually available in nearby side streets and Fort Green car park is only 3 minutes walk away; weekly parking tickets can be bought from the Tourist Information Centre.
This stylish holiday cottage is located close to the beach and shops in the popular seaside town of Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast. The town has an excellent range of restaurants, pubs and shops.
All prices include 100% cotton bed linen, towels, heating and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine, biscuits and complimentary toiletries to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.
This stylishly renovated cottage is equipped with gas central heating and a wood-burning stove.
