"A fabulous half-term holiday (again) here in Aldeburgh with our 5 year old daughter. But this cottage has been the best yet, beautifully converted and perfectly located………….. Roll on next year"
Quintessentially Aldeburgh, this stylish period cottage occupies a lovely spot on a short lane between the beach and High Street – absolutely ideal. Guests can enjoy Aldeburgh’s vibrant atmosphere in close proximity while being in a quiet spot - alternatively several lovely walks leading to the river and through the marshes and by the sea start nearby.
On the ground floor, there’s a large living room with a lovely inglenook fireplace, a kitchen/dining room and a bathroom. Upstairs there are two bedrooms (a double and a single) and a small cloakroom with a w.c. Outside, there’s a pretty courtyard at the front of the cottage and a lovely walled garden at the rear. The beach is just moments away.
Ground Floor
Living room: The front door leads into a large living room with a 3-seater sofa, an armchair and a wicker chair. There’s a bay window – ideal for enjoying occasional people-watching as people stroll around this seaside town, or stop briefly to gaze at the Sundial over the front door. As well as the inglenook, there is a flat screen TV with an integrated DVD player and FreeView, and an Ipod docking station.
Kitchen/Dining room: This room has a dining area at one end and a good-sized kitchen at the other. The dining area has a round pine table and four chairs, an original fire place (not in use) and an armchair in an alcove with pretty garden views behind. There’s also a breakfast bar with two bar stools. The kitchen has an integrated gas hob and electric oven, a dishwasher, washing machine, a microwave, under-counter fridge with an ice-box.
Bathroom: Beyond the kitchen, there’s a bathroom with a bath and a shower over, a w.c. and a hand basin.
First floor:
Straight stairs with a hand rail lead from the dining area to a small first floor landing with access to the two bedrooms and cloakroom.
Bedroom 1: This large room has a king size bed with two small chests of drawers, a large built-in original wardrobe, an Africa Chair and a period fireplace (not in use). There’s also a good glimpse of the sea if you pop your head out of the window!
Bedroom 2: This compact room has a single bed, small chest of drawers and a large wardrobe with shelves.
Cloakroom: There’s a w.c. with a hand basin and a great view straight down the pretty garden!
Outside: At the rear is a 70 foot long walled garden with a patio and lawn beyond, an old apple tree, mature roses and a table and chairs. It is a lovely haven away from the crowded beach on a sunny summer’s afternoon and is ideal for young children. At the front there’s a south-facing courtyard with a table, bench and well stocked planters. It’s a great spot for a morning coffee whilst watching people head off to the beach for an early swim, or a relaxing drink at the end of the day.
