About the property

South House is a large and stylish house situated on a private road just a few minutes walk from Aldeburgh High Street and the beach. With ample outdoor space, stunning views from the balconies, open fires and off road parking, this property is ideal for family gatherings at all times of the year.

The house is laid out on two floors, on the ground floor there is a large open plan kitchen-dining room, two bedrooms, a shower room and a utility room.  The first floor has a large drawing room with a super south-facing balcony and access up to the roof terrace for stunning river views; two further bedrooms and a family bathroom.   Outside is a large landscaped garden to the front and a lawned garden to the rear, both of which are enclosed.

The accommodation

Ground floor:

Kitchen-Dining room: This light and airy open plan space has blue painted kitchen cupboards, an integrated gas hob/electric oven with overhead extractor fan, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave.   Patio doors lead out to the west-facing front garden.  The dining area has a table with seating for eight people, a sofa, a window seat and a living flame gas fire.

Bedroom 3: A twin bedroom with a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables.

Bedroom 4: A twin bedroom with a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables.

Shower room:  A shower room with a shower, w.c. and hand basin.

First floor:

Living room: A lovely room with a large bay with sash windows enjoying views towards the River Alde.  There are two three-seater sofas, two chairs, coffee table, side tables, TV, DVD player and Playstation and a living flame gas fire.  Patio doors lead out to the balcony from where a spiral staircase leads up to a roof terrace with panoramic views of Aldeburgh, the River Alde and the sea

Bedroom 1: A double bedroom with bedside tables, chest of drawers and a wardrobe.  This double aspect room has patio doors directly out onto the balcony with tables and chairs. Access from there is via the spiral staircase to the roof terrace above. 

Bedroom 2: A twin bedroom with south-facing views over the garden.

Family bathroom: With a lovely freestanding claw-foot bath with a hand-held shower attachment, a separate large shower, w.c and hand basin. 

Third floor roof terrace:  With access from the first floor balcony, the terrace has wide and stunning views over the roof tops to the sea and south towards the river. The terrace has railings.

About the area

South House is a large self-catering house located on a quiet and private road within a 5-10 minute walk of Aldeburgh's High Street in Suffolk.  Aldeburgh is a popular seaside town with many several independent shops shops, restaurants, art galleries and an unspoilt beach. 

What's included?

All prices include 100% cotton bed linen and towels, gas and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.

The property is equipped with gas central heating, two living gas flame fires, gas hob and electric oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine, TV, DVD player, CD/radio/Ipod player, garden furniture, and a BBQ.  A travel cot is available on request.

Pets: This property welcomes a well-behaved dog on a discretionary basis, subject to our usual booking conditions. Also, pets are only allowed on the ground floor (ie. not the first floor which includes the living room).  Please let us know at the time of booking if you plan on bringing a pet with you.

Restrictions: Sorry, no smoking, or unaccompanied teenagers permitted at the property.

2. Make a provisional booking by clicking on your arrival date, then click on your departure date. You will then be prompted to fill out a booking form. Only dates that are underlined can be selected as arrival and departure dates. For enquiries about other dates please email or call us.

3. How to pay. When you have filled out your booking form you can choose to pay online by credit or debit card or send a cheque. A 25% deposit is requested at the time of your booking. The balance and a £100 returnable good housekeeping deposit (subject to terms and conditions) are due six weeks before your holiday commences. Please note there is a 1.5% charge for credit card payments. There is no charge for debit card or cheque payments.
