About the property

This lovely cottage is ideally located just off the famous village green in Norfolk’s fashionable Burnham Market.  Owned by a cookery writer the property reflects its owners’ passion for food, featuring a lovely cream Aga and fully equipped chef’s kitchen.  

Cooking however is not compulsory – there are excellent pubs, restaurants and renowned bakery and fish mongers, underpinning Burnham Market’s reputation as one of the most sought after villages in East Anglia. 

The accommodation: 

Ground floor:

Living/dining room:  Through the front door guests will enter the cottage’s welcoming sitting room, with two large blue sofas, an open fire and when needed a basket of logs. Guests with find the cottage stocked with plenty of board games and magazines, ideal for whiling away evenings whilst relaxing on holiday.

Beyond the sitting area is the solid oak dining table with wicker chairs, leading through to the galley kitchen.  There is of course a TV, DVD player and iPod player.

Kitchen: the well equipped kitchen has a wonderful night storage Aga cooker and a separate halogen hob and oven with an extractor fan as well as a wide selection of cookery books and utensils. There’s an integrated fridge and freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.

Bathroom: There’s a straightforward bath with shower over it, a w.c., a hand basin and a heated towel rail – complete with fluffy bathsheets and lovely toiletries.

First floor: Stairs from dining area to small first floor landing. 

Bed 1: There’s a super brass king size bed - complete with crisp cotton sheets, bedside tables, an antique chest of drawers, and a fitted wardrobe and ornamental fireplace.  The room has some lovely panelled walls and an original sash window.

Bed 2: This room has a twin bed with a bedside table between the beds, a chest of drawers and coat hooks on the wall for your clothes.

Outside: French doors from the kitchen lead straight out to a pretty patio with a table and chairs and a herb garden.  On road parking is usually available nearby.

About the area:

The cottage is ideally situated close to Burnham Market’s pretty village green.

Explore the area with our top five tips:

1.  Take a bracing walk along the river estuary and vast beaches between from Burnham Overy Staithe to Holkham, stopping for lunch at The Victoria before returning back and relaxing in front of the lighting the open fire.

2. Visit one of the nearby stately homes of Holkham Hall, Sandringham Palace, Houghton Hall, and Blickling Hall.

3.  Catch a boat trip from Morston Quay to Blakeney Point to watch the seals basking on the beaches, some times with young pups.

4.  Have leisurely stroll around Burnham Market, visiting the bakers and deli and stopping for lunch or dinner at the renowned Hoste Arms.

5.  Visit the nature reserves at Titchwell, Holme, Holkham and Cley.  This area of Norfolk is well known for its reed beds and marshes, sand dunes and wide open beaches

What’s included?

All rental prices include bed linen and towels, gas and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.

The property is equipped with gas central heating, TV, DVD player, Ipod docker and stereo, electric Aga range, ceramic hob and electric oven, a fridge andfreezer, microwave, dishwasher, and washing machine. A travel cot and a high chair are available on request.

Restrictions and notes: Sorry, no smoking, pets or unaccompanied teenagers permitted at the property. 

Tariff

£420 to £650 week depending on the time of year. Short breaks are sometimes available – check the availability calendar for up to date information and to book online.

3. How to pay. When you have filled out your booking form you can choose to pay online by credit or debit card or send a cheque. A 25% deposit is requested at the time of your booking. The balance and a £100 returnable good housekeeping deposit (subject to terms and conditions) are due six weeks before your holiday commences. Please note there is a 1.5% charge for credit card payments. There is no charge for debit card or cheque payments.
