LIGHT AND AIRY HOLIDAY LODGE ON THE SOMERLEYTON ESTATE
This light and airy lodge sits quietly in the grounds of the Fritton Lake Retreats, a great spot for a fun holiday with the kids with plenty of activities to keep them happy, or a relaxing break with friends and family with excellent pub on the doorstep.
Accommodation is on one level with a spacious living space comprising kitchen, living and dining areas with three charming bedrooms, one with en suite shower, and a stylish family bathroom.
Surrounded by fields with a short walk to the lake, this is a great place for long walks or games of hide and seek with the kids. When the day’s done you can relax on the spacious raised wooden deck, furnished for al fresco meals.
Owl Lodge is all on one level, however it is raised and has three steps to the front door. Inside there’s an entrance hall with space to leave footwear and coats then an inner hall with the bedrooms, bathroom and living space opening off it. All rooms are carpeted other than the bathroom and hall where there’s an attractive hard floor.
A lovely light room with sun streaming through two sets of double doors which open onto the spacious deck. The room’s ideal for socialising with friends and family with a sitting area furnished with sofas and occasional tables around the warming gas fire and TV; dining area with handsome table and six chairs and kitchen equipped with an electric double oven with four ring ceramic hob and extractor, five shelf fridge, three drawer freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher and free standing microwave.
A good sized room with double bed, bedside drawers, dressing table with mirror and stool and ample storage in a built in wardrobe with mirrored doors, book case and flat screen TV.
With natural light, shower cubicle, wash basin set in a vanity unit, WC and heated towel rail.

Decorated in soft tones this bright room has twin beds with padded bedhead, bedside units, bags of wardrobe space and drawers.
This stylish bathroom has a bath with shower over, wash basin, WC, heated towel rail and natural light.
You can park beside the lodge which has a large wooden deck running round two sides and three wooden steps rising to the front door. The majority of the deck ifaces south east, overlooking fields which stretch down to Fritton Lake – an idyllic spot to enjoy meals in the fresh air with table, chairs and parasol provided, or simply chill and listen to the birds.
All prices include 100% cotton bed linen, towels, heating and electricity, plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.

This self-catering holiday lodge sits in a unique position on the Somerleyton Estate where you can experience history, romance, grandeur and conservation. Owl Lodge is on the Fritton Lake nature reserve offering plenty of activities for all the family to enjoy right on the doorstep with stunning walks along the banks of the lake, an adventure playground, horse riding, triathlon, trail running, cycling, farm and in summer plenty of activity on the lake itself such as paddle boarding and open water swimming.
The Fritton Arms, a pub and restaurant with large terrace, is just a short walk from Owl Lodge where you’ll be welcomed with fine food and refreshment. The Dukes Head, a five minute drive away, is also great British pub with gardens, renowned for a flavoursome, fresh and seasonal menu sourced locally where possible from the estate’s own farms, as well as Suffolk real ales on tap and a comprehensive wine list.
A visit to adjacent Somerleyton Hall is a must; this Tudor period mansion has been remodeled with beautiful stone work and sumptuous interiors. The gardens are a wonderful example of a Victorian pleasure garden, complete with a 70 foot long pergola, a walled garden with ornate iron and glass greenhouses designed by Joseph Paxton (architect of Crystal Palace) and one of the finest yew hedge mazes in Britain.
