Ideally positioned on Aldeburgh’s High Street, Oriel Cottage is a pretty ‘Suffolk Pink’ fisherman’s cottage dating back to the 18th century. Just a few short steps from the beach, it’s also just a few doors from Aldeburgh’s wonderful shops and restaurants.

This light and airy self-catering Aldeburgh holiday cottage has been lovingly restored and is filled with original and period features. On the ground floor is a large living/dining room with a wood-burning stove, a kitchen with high quality handmade painted units, and a shower room. On the first floor are two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and the other with zip and link beds configurable as a king bed or twin and a bathroom with a large roll-top bath. On the second floor there’s a twin bedroom. Outside there are small patios to the front and rear of the house and access across a small public car park to the beach.

All in all we think this lovely self-catering Aldeburgh holiday cottage is a great place for a summer break or a cosy winter weekend retreat for both families and couples alike.

GROUND FLOOR:

LIVING/DINING ROOM: The front door leads into a large living/dining room with exposed beams, painted floorboards and a wood-burning stove. There a place for coats and a shoe-store, a large oak dining table (which comfortably seats 8), a sideboard, two large comfy sofas, a flat screen TV, a DVD player, CD player, SKY TV channels and a good supply of books, games and DVD’s.

KITCHEN: The living room leads through to the kitchen with its handmade units, solid oak work surfaces, double butler sink and traditional herringbone laid terracotta floor-tiles. There is a freestanding Smeg cooker with a gas hob and electric oven, a microwave, dishwasher and two under-counter fridges (one with a small freezer compartment). Along one wall is a low oak breakfast bar with two stools. Under the staircase to the first floor is a cupboard with a washing machine, and more room for coats and boots. Wind-breaks are provided as well as an umbrella and shopping bags. The kitchen is fully equipped including also picnic-ware for trips to the beach or coffee on the beach wall.

SHOWER ROOM: Beyond the kitchen is a mosaic-tiled shower-room with a large shower enclosure and a powerful 8” shower-head. There is a w.c., a hand basin with a shaver point and a heated towel rail.

FIRST FLOOR:

FAMILY BATHROOM: This room has a deep free-standing roll-top bath, a w.c. and basin with a shaver point, with a feature light-up mirror above, and hand painted mosaic dolphin tiles on the floor. There is also a heated towel rail and a shaving mirror.

BEDROOM 1: This has a king-size brass bed with bedside tables, and a built-in wardrobe with shelving as well as a dressing table and stool. There is a chair to to sit in and enjoy the evening sun and a large mirror on the wall. The pretty oriel window is in this room, with super views both up and down the high street. There is also a bedside clock radio and hair-dryer.

BEDROOM 2: This room features a zip and link bed and can be configured as two full size single beds or as a king-size bed. There are two bedside tables, a built-in wardrobe and a set of drawers. The bedroom has a built-in wardrobe with hanging space and shelves, and two bedside tables. Above the bed is a delightfully colourful gypsy chandelier and there is a large mirror on the wall.

SECOND FLOOR:

BEDROOM 3:The staircase to the second floor is full of character and winds its way up to the attic room. This bright twin bedroom has sloping ceilings and a large dormer window. It has two shaker-style single beds, each with its own wall light above, a wall mirror, a chest of drawers and coat hooks with hangers on the wall to hang clothes, a TV and a Playstation2.
* Please note that access to the twin room is up a winding staircase with a very low head height, so you will need to duck your head down at times on the stairs. We therefore wouldn’t recommend this room to the very tall or elderly. *

OUTSIDE:
Outside and to the front and rear of this self-catering Aldeburgh holiday cottage are small painted patios. At the back there is a small courtyard with a table and chairs, and a gate that leads down a covered pathway with direct access to Crag Path and the beach.
On-road parking is usually available either in the bays to the front of the house (these are time-limited), in the pay and display car park just to the rear of the house (daily and weekly permits available) or free in nearby side streets.

All prices include 100% cotton bed linen and towels, heating and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.

This self-catering Aldeburgh holiday cottage is equipped with gas central heating, a wood-burning stove in the living room, a gas hob and electric oven, a double under the counter fridge with a small freezer compartment, washing machine, microwave, flat screen TV, Sky Plus with Sky Movies, DVD player, WIFI, a CD player and Playstation2 in the twin bedroom. A travel cot and a high chair are available on request.

This stylish self-catering Aldeburgh holiday cottage is located at the heart of Aldeburgh’s High Street in Suffolk and is ideally situated to enjoy the town’s very popular restaurants, cafes and independent shops, and of course the beach.

Sorry, no smoking, or unaccompanied teenagers permitted at the property.

One small well-behaved dog is welcome downstairs and a dog bowl is provided. If you wish to bring a dog it must be mentioned at the time of booking on the booking form and is subject to our conditions of booking.

Please note the zip and link bed in Bedroom 2 will be left as a king size bed unless otherwise specified as two single beds at the time of your booking.

Once you have filled out the online booking form, you will be given the option to pay by credit or debit card, or by BACs transfer.
