Sitting on the prestigious Somerleyton Estate, guests staying and this charming and luxurious mid terraced cottage will have a wealth of activities to choose from on their doorstep, ranging from stunning walks around Fritton Lake, or having fun at the large playground to visiting the majestic Hall or enjoying meals at the nearby Fritton Arms.

Surrounded by fields and parkland with views of the lake, Buxton Cottage has a modern kitchen with an elegant dining room on the ground floor and a cosy living room with wood burner plus door to the garden to suit all seasons. Accommodation on the first floor is in two king size rooms with views of the fields and lake beyond, plus a room with bunk beds and the family bathroom.

Outside there’s allocated parking for one car and additional space for a second with a path running down to the front door and a peaceful private garden at the back of this self-catering cottage which runs down to the fields where you can watch the Jersey cows and chickens passing by.

Ground floor:
The front door opens into a hall with a couple of cupboards for shoes and coats and carpeted stairs rising to the first floor and a door to the kitchen with the living and dining rooms opening off it. There’s a second external door from the living room to the back garden.

Kitchen
Overlooking the front garden the kitchen’s equipped with an electric oven and induction hob with extractor and an integrated under counter fridge with freezer compartment.

Dining Room
A lovely sunny south facing room with farmhouse style table. eight chairs and an antique side board.

Living Room
Beautifully designed and furnished, this room’s perfect at any time of the year with a wide door opening to the garden and a wood burner for cooler times. It’d be hard not to relax on the huge velvet sofa and the room also has a big foot stool, two arm chairs, a handsome blanket chest, occasional tables and a wall mounted TV.

First floor
Carpet runs up the stairs and through the first floor landing, one king and the bunk bedroom, the second king has a wooden floor with rugs and the bathroom, conveniently located for all bedrooms, has lino.

Bedroom One
A lovely light bedroom overlooking the fields, furnished with a king size bed, bedside tables with lamps and a wardrobe with ample hanging space and a shelf.

Bedroom Two
Designed in shades of grey, this stylish room has a Lloyd loom king size bed with bedside tables, a couple of chairs, built in wardrobe and breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.

Family Bathroom
The window at the front of Buxton Cottage gives natural to this room with bath, hand shower, basin and WC.

Bedroom Three
Sitting at the front of the cottage this is a good-sized bedroom with bunk beds and a large chest of drawers.

Outside
This period holiday cottage sits next to two others, Lake View and Decoy Cottage which will be availble from September and can be booked together to accommodate 12 guests in total. Each cottage has allocated off road parking and there’s additional parking if needed. A path leads to the front door and a second door opens from the living room into the private garden at the back with a wicker fence for privacy at either side and hedge at the bottom which runs down to the fields, where you can watch the Jersey cows and chickens passing by.

All prices include 100% cotton bed linen, towels, heating and electricity, plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.

This mid terrace self-catering holiday cottage is equipped with central heating and a wood burner. Appliances include a TV with FreeSat, Wifi and iPod docking station. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge with freezer compartment, electric oven, ceramic hob and free standing microwave.

A travel cot and high chair are available from the property owners on request at the time of booking.

This charming mid terrace holiday cottage sits in a unique position on the Somerleyton Estate where you can experience history, romance, grandeur and conservation. The cottage is next to the Fritton Lake nature reserve offering plenty of activities for all the family to enjoy right on the doorstep with stunning walks along the banks of the lake, an adventure playground and, in summer, plenty of activity on the lake itself.

The Fritton Arms, a pub and restaurant with large terrace, is just a short walk from Buxton Cottage where you’ll be welcomed with fine food and refreshment. The Dukes Head, a five minute drive away, is also great British pub with gardens, renowned for a flavoursome, fresh and seasonal menu sourced locally where possible from the estate’s own farms, as well as Suffolk real ales on tap and a comprehensive wine list.

A visit to adjacent Somerleyton Hall is a must; this Tudor period mansion has been remodeled with beautiful stone work and sumptuous interiors. The gardens are a wonderful example of a Victorian pleasure garden, complete with a 70 foot long pergola, a walled garden with ornate iron and glass greenhouses designed by Joseph Paxton (architect of Crystal Palace) and one of the finest yew hedge mazes in Britain.

A well-behaved dog is welcome downstairs. If you wish to bring a dog it must be mentioned at the time of booking on the booking form and is subject to our conditions of booking. Please note that the garden isn't 100% secure as there is a hedge at the bottom with chickens passing!

The stairs are quite wide and have a handrail.
