This luxury self-catering retreat for two is great for a relaxed weekend away. Situated in the picturesque village of Horringer near Bury St Edmunds, it’s right on the edge of The National Trust property ‘Ickworth House and Park’, where you’ll find 1,800 acres of wooded parkland to explore along with an award-winning new restaurant.
The Old Piggery has a crisp modern interior – there’s a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom with a Villeroy Boch suite, a ‘Nolte’ modern-style kitchen, and WiFi broadband access. Outside there’s a patio to enjoy a glass of wine during sunny days.
Living/Dining room: The front door leads into the beamed living room where there’s a three seater sofa, coffee table, a small flat screen TV/DVD player, a dining table with four chairs and a stone floor with rugs.
Kitchen: The large ‘Nolte’ german kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and ceramic Bosch hob, slimline dishwasher, a washing/drying machine, fridge with freezer compartment, an extractor fan and a microwave.
Bedroom: There’s a double bed with bedside tables and a wardrobe with drawers.
Bathroom: The bathroom has Villeroy Boch fittings that include a deep bath with a hand-held shower attachment that can be attached to the wall, a w.c. and a hand basin.
Outside is a patio with a table and chairs and planted garden. Off-road parking is available about 150 yards away. The Old Piggery is situated in the courtyard garden of a barn conversion and the owners are careful to give you your own private space.
About the area
This self-catering holiday cottage for 2 people is situated in the very pretty village of Horringer where there are two pubs including a very popular ‘gastropub’ The Beehive.
Ickworth House and Park is just around the corner, an ideal spot for beautiful summer strolls, picnics by the fairy lake or summer house. The park at Ickworth was in part created by the famous 18th Century landscape designer 'Capability' Brown. Here you’ll also find the West Wing Restaurant, which is superb for lunches and afternoon teas and serves local Ickworth Estate wines.
The village is close to Bury St Edmunds making it ideal for exploring the historic villages of West Suffolk, including Long Melford and Lavenham.
The cottage is only 30 minutes drive from Cambridge, and around 1 hour's drive from London. The nearest train station is just 3½ miles away at Bury St Edmunds.
What’s included?
All prices include 100% Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels, heating and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.
The accommodation is equipped with underfloor heating throughout, a small flat screen TV/DVD player, electric hob and oven, microwave, slim line dishwasher, washing/drying machine and a fridge with freezer compartment. A travel cot is available on request.

Tariff

3. How to pay. When you have filled out your booking form you can choose to pay online by credit or debit card or send a cheque. A 25% deposit is requested at the time of your booking. The balance and a £100 returnable good housekeeping deposit (subject to terms and conditions) are due six weeks before your holiday commences. Please note there is a 1.5% charge for credit card payments. There is no charge for debit card or cheque payments.
