This sophisticated penthouse apartment is an exceptional find. It has breathtaking panoramic views of the sea over Southwold’s South Green and Gun Hill from almost every room, and there’s a fabulous French-influenced interior mixing vintage and new contemporary pieces of furniture. This apartment will appeal to couples and small families who appreciate quality and luxury as well as those who simply love Southwold and the sea.
This first floor apartment has a large living area with tall floor to ceiling windows to take advantage of those panoramic sea and Southwold views, an original conservatory-style kitchen/dining room with further large windows and views, two bedrooms (1 double four poster, 1 twin), and a shower room, all in stylish French style.
First floor: Communal stairs from ground floor on South Green lead up to a first floor landing and the front door.
The front door leads into a hallway with oak leaf pattern wallpaper and access to all of the rooms.
Living/dining room: A magnificent room with wall to ceiling windows framing the superb sea views over the Green. With shutters and soft blinds, painted floor boards, vintage leather armchairs and a Conran leather sofa. There’s a wall-mounted 34" flat screen TV with Sky TV channels, a DVD/CD player and WIFI. The dining area features a handmade trestle wooden table and Eames dining chairs and a Scandinavian wooden bench.
Kitchen/Dining area: The living room leads through to a conservatory kitchen with more wonderful panoramic views. There’s a handmade kitchen decorated in classical colours and vintage wall tiles and a Belfast sink. A Scandinavian table and chairs with a painted bench is ideal for breakfasts. This conservatory kitchen is small but very well appointed with outstanding views to Dunwich, Walberswick and Gun Hill. Appliances include a wine cooler, slimline dishwasher, fridge with a freezer compartment, electric hob and oven, a microwave and a combined washing machine/dryer.
Bedroom 1 (Master bedroom): This lovely bedroom has a double four-poster bed, and amazing views over the green of the sea. There’s a painted floor, bedside tables, a wardrobe with hanging space and shelves, funky Sea Thistle wallpaper, a 37 inch wall mounted TV and DVD player, and a vintage bench for guests to sit on and enjoy the view.
Bedroom 2: This room has a fun and funky feel, with flexible beds - either 2 single Conran beds, 1 single daybed or one large Queen sized bed....whatever best suits your requirements.
With designers Vivienne Westwood and Ralph Lauren wallpapers, mini Ghost chairs and a Conran desk table, and breathtaking views of the Green and the sea - at any time of the year! The wooden floor is painted and other furniture includes a wardrobe and bedside tables.
Shower room: This is beautifully designed with a French feel! Small but perfectly formed with a walk-in shower, w.c. and large wash hand basin, boasting Fired Earth sanitaryware.
Outside: On road parking is often available either outside the property or in nearby side street. Southwold has several car parks which usually offer free parking.
The sandy beach in Southwold is adorned with a string of colourful beach huts that lead along to Southwold Pier at one end and towards Southwold Harbour at the other end.
Southwold boasts several excellent pubs and restaurants as well as a range of independent shops and galleries. There is a pretty walk through the harbour and over a footbridge to the picture-postcard village of Walberswick, home to two good pubs (The Anchor and The Bell) and a long sandy beach.
Fresh fish can be bought from the fish huts along the harbour. Southwold is home to the Adnams Brewery and the town’s excellent pubs include one of our personal favourites, The Lord Nelson where you can try a range of Adnams bitters.
All prices include 100% cotton bed linen, towels, heating and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.
This first floor apartment is equipped with gas central heating. Appliances include two large flat screen TVs with Sky satellite channels, DVD/CD player, wi-fi broadband, electric hob and oven, slimline dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, combined washing machine/dryer and a microwave. There are original solid pine floors in most of the rooms.
